Chapter 95
First Encounter with Tony Stark, Seizing the Mind Scepter
Chapter 95 First Encounter with Tony Stark, Seizing the Mind Scepter
In the shelter farm, in McCa's office.
"How was it? Nothing unusual happened at the farm while I was away."
McCa sat at his desk, looking at everyone in the office.
Basically, all the core members of the farm were present: Logan, Victor, Marcus, John, and others. Except for Caliban, who had to accompany the professor to class, they were all gathered by McCain.
He had been away for several days and finally returned to the farm, where he needed to find out what had happened.
However, after he finished speaking, no one answered immediately. After exchanging glances for a while, Marcos finally spoke up: "Something went wrong. We lost four sheep."
"Four sheep?"
McCain was taken aback, his brow furrowed as he asked, "What happened? Did it get lost?"
Marcos remained silent for a moment, unsure how to respond.
Luo stepped forward and responded, "No, they were stolen. He successfully stole three, and we caught him when he was trying to steal the fourth. But he killed the sheep before he left."
"Who is it?"
McCain was stunned. He couldn't understand who would dare to sneak into a mutant farm to steal sheep, and even succeed three times.
"I don't know."
Logan shook his head. "We couldn't catch him, but there were three strange men, blue-skinned, with lion-like manes around their necks, very tall, and incredibly strong and fast, like savages, but they could talk. Victor and I chased them into the woods and fought them, but they still managed to escape."
After hearing Logan's words, McCain's eyes flickered almost imperceptibly, but his brow remained furrowed. "There are people like that around here?"
Victor, who was standing nearby, spoke up: "They should know you; at least one of them seems to have a grudge against you."
"Oh?"
Maika paused for a moment, stared at Victor, and asked with a furrowed brow, "What did he say?"
After thinking for a moment, Victor replied, "They didn't say anything, just that one of the strange guys was willing to compensate us for our losses, but the strange guy who stole the sheep wasn't. He even said that he couldn't compensate us for anything and called us a scoundrel or something."
After hearing this, Maika frowned and pondered for a long time before shaking his head. "I don't remember. Maybe we had some past grudges. After all, building this farm inevitably attracts some enemies."
Logan looked at McCain's expression and felt that something was off.
Those strange people had very distinctive physical characteristics. If they had a grudge, they would surely remember each other. Moreover, the way one of the strange people treated McCa clearly indicated that he had been hurt by McCa in the past.
Looking at McCa's expression, Logan felt that McCa seemed to be hiding something, but after thinking about it, Logan did not choose to expose it.
After pondering without success, McCarthy stopped thinking about it and instead asked, "Besides the four sheep, were there any other losses? Were any of our men injured?"
"no."
Marcos responded, "Apart from this, everything else is normal."
"That's good."
McCa waved his hand, looking relaxed, and said, "As long as no one gets hurt, that's fine. As for the sheep pen, I'll arrange for more guards to patrol it later. You should also be careful and watch out for attacks from strange people."
The loss of four sheep is indeed a significant loss for the shelter, but not to the point of being irreparable.
After a pause, McCain looked at everyone and said, "I called you all here today for one reason only: to understand the situation at the shelter. There is another task that requires your help."
"What mission?"
Victor was immediately interested when he heard about the mission, after all, he was getting bored of staying on the farm every day teaching the children fighting skills.
"Go to a place, retrieve something important, and make sure to bring it back safely."
After McCa finished speaking, his gaze fixed on Logan. "Logan, this is quite important. You have a lot of experience in carrying out missions outside. I wonder if you can lead the team and complete this mission?"
"Hey, my experience is no less than his."
Victor looked indignant. "You shouldn't keep focusing on Wolverine. Sabretooth's abilities are no less than Wolverine's."
McCa smiled and turned to look at Victor. "Victor, if you can get rid of your temper, I can consider making you the leader. Otherwise, I'm worried that you'll lead my friends in a blind charge whenever we encounter the enemy, causing me heavy losses."
Victor was speechless upon hearing this. Although he was unwilling to admit it, he was indeed not as meticulous as Logan.
Logan thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "I can go and complete the mission."
"Very good."
McCa smiled and added, "As for who you want to take with you, that's your choice. I'll prepare fake passports, new ID cards, and plane tickets for you. They'll be ready tomorrow. The place you're going to this time is a bit far, so I hope you're well prepared."
As he spoke, McCarra opened a drawer, took out a document, and handed it to Logan.
Logan opened the file bag. The mission location was a small country in the interior of Eastern Europe called Sokovia. The mission was to bring back a batch of goods from Sokovia, but the mission did not specify what the goods were.
McCain also stated that he was unaware of the details of the goods, as the job was an order he received from a middleman. After all, the shelter required a lot of expenses, and as the leader of the shelter, he had to find ways to make money for it.
Otherwise, relying solely on the farm's business, the shelter will never be able to expand.
His goal wasn't just to shelter a hundred or so mutants, but to create a massive mutant community, and that required money.
Logan looked at the location Kosovia on the mission and felt it looked familiar, but he couldn't remember it for a moment. After thinking about it for a while, he still had no clue, so he simply stopped thinking about it.
After glancing at the mission information and thinking for a moment, Logan turned to look at the group. "If we're going on the mission together, then Victor, Marcus, and John, plus me, the four of us will be enough."
They had worked together more than once, and they were both very capable; Logan trusted them completely.
"Hey, Uncle Wolf, don't underestimate me just because I'm a woman. I think I should participate in this mission too."
After hearing Logan call her name, Lorna immediately stood up, clearly eager to participate in the mission.
Logan gave a wry smile. "Lorna, you have to stay and protect the farm. There are a few potentially threatening weirdos on the farm now, so at least one strong person needs to stay behind. You're the one who should do it."
He looked at Lorna and chuckled softly.
Of course, this is only one reason. More importantly, he doesn't want girls to be involved in too many dangerous missions, especially Lorna.
After all, she is Magneto's daughter, and Logan doesn't want her to follow in Magneto's footsteps. Living a good life on the farm is a better way for her to grow up.
Hearing Logan's words, Lorna could only nod helplessly.
……
The following morning, after instructing Caliban to take good care of the professor, Logan took Victor, John, and Marcus to McCain's office to collect fake passports and ID cards, as well as plane tickets to Kosovia.
Kosovia is located in the interior of Eastern Europe. It doesn't take too long to fly there from Canada. Even with a layover, it only took less than 20 hours to reach the airport in Kosovia.
In addition, McCa's fake ID was very complete, so the journey went very smoothly without any obstacles.
Kosovia is a small country in Eastern Europe with beautiful scenery, attracting a large number of tourists every year, mainly relying on tourism.
When Logan boarded the plane, he could clearly sense that there were a lot of tourists heading to Sokovia, most of them with their families. Even before landing, they were leaning against the plane windows, looking at the beautiful scenery below.
As the plane landed and the cabin door opened, Logan turned to Victor and the others traveling with him and said, "Put on your masks, it's safer."
Both he and Viktor were wanted criminals, and no one could be sure whether the United States would send their photos to Sokovia. If they were recognized at the airport, it would be a huge problem.
Moreover, they came with a mission, so they had to keep a low profile.
Victor was clearly somewhat disdainful, but he still obediently put on the mask. As for Marcus and John, they didn't object.
The group successfully exited the station, but as soon as they stepped out, they were immediately surrounded by taxi drivers.
These drivers treated the passengers like vicious dogs eyeing a steak, scrambling to surround Logan and his companions.
Logan and his companions were clearly not used to such "enthusiasm" and waved their hands repeatedly to indicate that they didn't need it, but the drivers wouldn't let it go so easily and kept asking them about their destination.
Just as Logan was getting annoyed by these drivers, he suddenly felt a tug on his pocket.
An ordinary person might just think it was an accidental tug, but Logan had been in a place like Santa Fe for over a decade, and he had seen plenty of these low-level money-stealing tricks.
He quickly reached into his pocket, and sure enough, the wallet that had been lying there was gone.
At the same time, he noticed a young man wearing a baseball cap, quickly pulled the cap down, and hurried away with his head down.
"Hey, you stop right there!"
Logan yelled at the young man.
Instead of stopping, the young man quickened his pace and weaved through the crowd.
"What's wrong?"
Victor, standing to the side, looked at Logan in surprise, not understanding what had happened.
"He stole my wallet!"
Logan roared, then pushed through the crowd and chased after the young man, yelling, "Fuck, get out of my way!"
He's Wolverine, the butcher who killed countless people in World War II. If he were to have his wallet stolen by a petty thief in this place, he would have wasted nearly two hundred years of his life!
When the thief saw Logan chasing after him, he panicked and quickened his pace again.
The two ran frantically outside the airport, one after the other, while the people around them seemed to be used to such things and continued with their own business without finding it strange.
The young man weaved through the crowd, making Logan hesitant to speed up.
Although he could easily catch the young man if he ran at full speed, his physique would make it easy for him to bump into pedestrians if he did so.
If an ordinary person were hit by him, they would be thrown at least several meters and suffer internal injuries. If the police were alerted, it would be a real problem.
Therefore, Logan dared not run too fast and could only weave through the pedestrians as he ran.
"Kid, if you don't stop now, you'll regret it!"
Logan roared at the thief.
The thief, however, was clearly disdainful, even turning around and taunting, "It's just a stolen wallet, why are you chasing me!"
boom!
However, no sooner had he finished speaking than a foot suddenly appeared in the corner in front of him.
The young man wasn't paying attention and tripped over that foot, falling heavily to the ground.
Because he was going so fast, he rolled over on the ground before stopping, lying on the ground curled up and groaning.
A man emerged from the corner, dressed in a sharp suit, sporting a very stylish mustache, and wearing sunglasses. He walked out with a nonchalant air, picked up the stolen wallet, and handed it to Logan, who had just arrived. He said, "Take good care of it. Don't lose it again. There are plenty of thieves around here. You'd better put it in a safe place."
Thank you.
Logan took the wallet, checked its contents, and was relieved to find that nothing was missing.
After all, his ID cards were fake, and if he lost them, he couldn't get a replacement or seek help from the embassy like other travelers.
Logan stuffed his wallet into his pocket, looked up at the man who had helped him, and froze when he saw the man's face.
"You are... Tony Stark?"
Logan was completely stunned when he saw that all-too-familiar face.
He never expected to run into Iron Man here!
Upon hearing Logan's words, Tony raised an eyebrow behind his sunglasses and said with a smile, "I didn't expect to have fans in Eastern Europe. But judging from your accent, you don't seem to be a local. Are you from America?"
"Yes, I'm here as a tourist."
Logan tried his best to appear like a normal fan, after all, he was still on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s wanted list.
Although his appearance has changed, making him look much younger, and he's even wearing a mask, making him unrecognizable to ordinary people, Logan is still worried that Tony's smart butler Jarvis will recognize his true identity.
After all, although Tony doesn't seem to be carrying any smart devices, his sunglasses might have already recorded his information.
Just then, Tony's phone rang.
He waved to Logan, then calmly answered the phone. After listening to the other person's words, Tony nodded and said, "You found it? I'm coming right away."
After saying that, he hung up the phone, turned to Logan and shushed him, "Sorry sir, I have something to do and can't take a picture with you. I hope you won't tell anyone that you've seen me here. I don't want to be the center of attention right now."
After saying that, Tony turned and left.
Logan frowned as he watched Tony's retreating figure.
He never expected to see Tony here, and judging from the content of his phone call, besides Tony, there seemed to be other Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D. members, who also seemed to be carrying out some kind of mission.
This made Logan think of the task that McCa had assigned him, and he couldn't help but feel a little worried.
Hopefully, their missions won't overlap. Logan doesn't want any more conflict with the Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D. right now.
Just then, Logan suddenly remembered the name Sokovia.
"Isn't this the site of the final battle in the Age of Ultron?!"
Logan suddenly remembered that the reason Kosovia sounded familiar was because he had seen it in Avengers: Age of Ultron!
Having traveled for so long, Logan had forgotten many things, but seeing Iron Man here made him remember them all!
Logan tried hard to recall the plot of the movie, and after thinking for a long time, he finally understood.
If the plot unfolds as it should, the Avengers found the missing Mind Scepter here at the beginning. Then, before Thor left with the scepter, Logan studied it and accidentally created Ultron, triggering the Ultron crisis.
However, it is clear that Ultron had not yet been born at this time, and the revenge came from Kosovia, which was just the search for the scepter at the beginning of the movie.
But Logan clearly remembers the beginning of the movie, when almost all the veteran Avengers participated in the struggle for the Mind Scepter.
In other words, Kosovia now has all the other Avengers besides Tony!
This made Logan worry for a moment.
If the shipment that McCain is tasked with acquiring is also the Mind Scepter, then it means they are about to engage in a major battle with the Avengers!
He wasn't sure if his current group of men were capable of fighting the Avengers.
Just as Logan was pondering this, Victor and a few others caught up with him.
Upon seeing the thief lying on the ground groaning in pain, Victor angrily stepped forward and kicked him hard.
Qin Nian, who was already in pain from the fall, could not withstand Vic's kick and screamed in agony.
But Victor wasn't about to let him get away with it. He grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up. "Kid, if I ever catch you stealing money again, I'll throw you into the river to feed the fish!"
After saying that, he punched the young man hard in the chest, making him almost faint from the pain and beg for mercy.
Seeing this, Victor threw it down and yelled, "Get out of here!"
The young man, naturally, dared not linger. Enduring the excruciating pain, he scrambled to his feet and fled as fast as he could.
After dealing with the thief, Marcos noticed Logan's expression and, seeing that something was wrong, asked worriedly, "Logan, what's wrong?"
Logan looked at them and murmured, "I just ran into Tony Stark."
"Iron Man?"
John was stunned, and said incredulously, "What's he doing here?"
"It's not just him."
After a moment of silence, Logan said again, "The other Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents should all be here."
Upon hearing this, Marcos was completely stunned and quickly asked, "He didn't realize your identity, did he?"
"Probably not."
Logan shook his head, then quickly added, "Let's go to the hotel first, keep a low profile, and make sure we don't get caught."
After saying that, he hurried towards the hotel he had booked.
He understood that revenge was most likely motivated by a desire for the Mind Scepter.
As for the Mind Stone, others might not know, but Logan knew perfectly well that it contained an Infinity Stone...
