Chapter 58

Logan X24

Chapter 58 Logan X-24

As night deepened, the campfire flickered in the woods, casting interplay of light and shadow.

Sharp steel claws gleamed coldly in the crimson-orange firelight, and the fake Logan pounced on Victor like a bolt of lightning.

The gusts of wind whipped up by the mad dash disrupted the blooming flames, causing the light to flicker.

Victor's eyes narrowed, and he quickly dodged to block, extending his claws to entangle with the fake Logan.

Laura, squatting in front of the campfire, watched the two suddenly start fighting and was at a loss for what to do. Her glassy eyes kept scanning the two of them as she tilted her head, lost in confusion.

The fake Logan's steel claws were incredibly sharp, dancing in the darkness, scattering cold light. The surrounding grass was swept by the cold light, instantly separating the branches, and the shattered grass swayed in the firelight.

On the other side, Victor's tiger claws were equally formidable. Every punch he threw produced a muffled whooshing sound, and the explosive power of speed and strength allowed him to handle even sneak attacks with ease.

Bang bang bang!!

The dull thuds of impact echoed through the silent jungle. Claws clashed, fists collided, each move revealing deadly intent. In just a few minutes, the two men's chests were covered in scratches, their clothes were completely torn, and the horrific injuries were too gruesome to look at. Crimson blood seeped out and dripped continuously onto the grassy path.

Peng!

The two men's eyes flashed with murderous intent, and they threw punches simultaneously. Their fists collided, and the powerful force instantly created a hurricane. The campfire flickered, and the two men were thrown back by the force, rolling on the grass, their fists bleeding profusely.

After releasing their energy, the two quickly got up and charged forward, plunging into another chaotic battle.

The stalemate didn't last long. Victor's aging body made it impossible for him to fight for long periods of time. Although his explosive power was still there, his endurance was not what it used to be, and his punching speed gradually slowed down.

Fake Logan seized the opportunity, grabbed Victor's arm and pulled hard, while clenching his other fist and slamming it into Victor's chest.

Peng!

A dull thud sounded again, and a terrifying force in his chest sent him flying, crashing heavily into a large tree behind him. The tree trunk trembled, and leaves fell in a flurry.

cough!

Victor struggled to his feet, coughing up blood. A tearing pain shot through his chest, but he gritted his teeth and endured it, staring intently at the approaching fake Logan. His eyes were icy cold as he suddenly sprang forward again.

The two sides were locked in a stalemate once again, and the scene became chaotic.

However, Victor, who was not in good physical condition, was eventually overwhelmed by the fake Logan's fierce offensive. He was caught off guard and punched in the chest.

At that moment, the fake Logan unleashed unimaginable terrifying power. Victor felt his chest cave in, spitting out a large amount of blood. His body was instantly sent flying, crashing heavily into the blazing campfire. The campfire scattered, and Victor's clothes were also set ablaze by the flames, with sparks flying everywhere.

The burning sensation on his body startled Victor, and he quickly reached out to extinguish the flames on his clothes.

brush!

Seeing this, the fake Logan suddenly extended his steel claws and pounced on Victor again, his claws gleaming coldly.

Victor's eyes narrowed sharply, unable to dodge in time.

Just as the steel claws were about to pierce Victor, in a flash, a dark figure pounced out and knocked the fake Logan away.

Are you alright?

Logan stared intently at the imposter who had been knocked down, and asked Victor behind him a question.

"fine."

Victor, panting heavily, watched Logan's retreating figure, yet dared not relax for a moment, and asked in a low voice, "Are you real or fake?"

The imposter, bred using Logan's genes, was so similar to the real Logan that he had to be wary.

"When you were a child on a manor in Canada, you dug a small hole in the bathhouse and often peeked at the maids bathing. You thought no one would find out, but..."

"shut up."

Logan hadn't finished speaking when Victor quickly interrupted, "Don't mention this again!"

As he spoke, he quickly changed the subject, looked at the fake Logan who had risen again in the darkness, and said in a deep voice, "This guy's abilities are no less than ours when we were young. Those biologists really took extra care of you, creating clones one after another."

As he spoke, he couldn't help but glance at Laura.

"X-24".

Logan stared intently at the clone in the darkness, recalling what Donald had said in that abandoned laboratory.

Dr. Rice used more than twenty test subjects, but only two Wolverines were successfully bred in the end: one was the perfect X-23 Laura, and the other was the slightly flawed X-24. Clearly, the one in front of us was the flawed one.

Although it has some flaws, the steel claws are made of Adamantium alloy, and its healing factor is comparable to that of a young Wolverine, so its fighting power should not be underestimated.

"As expected of your 'child,' it looks exactly like you."

Victor regained some of his strength and stared intently at X-24, whose steel claws gleamed menacingly in the darkness.

"A counterfeit is still a counterfeit!"

Logan snorted coldly and extended his steel claws as well, his eyes sharp.

However, the expected charge by X-24 did not occur. Instead, it simply stood still, making no other move except to stare intently at Logan.

Just as Logan was wondering, a series of rapid footsteps suddenly came from afar, followed by a powerful flashlight that could illuminate the forest as if it were daytime.

A group of heavily armed soldiers surrounded Logan and his men in an orderly fashion, with dozens of rifles pointed at them, ready to riddle them with bullets at any moment.

Seeing this, Logan's heart sank, and he quickly hugged Laura in his arms, glancing around at the crowd.

"More than sixty, that's quite a generous gesture."

Victor brandished his tiger claws, his voice deep and resonant.

Logan's gaze was icy as he glanced at the cave not far away, his brows furrowed.

He originally intended to lure people to that cave, since that place was practically their home turf, but now it seems that the plan is going to fall through.

"Logan Howlett, we meet again."

Dr. Rice stepped out from the crowd behind him, a sinister smile on his face, as if he were looking at prey in a cage. "You can't take that girl with you. Hand her over, and I can guarantee you'll suffer less."

Logan turned and stared intently at Rice. "You think you can take me down with these guys?"

"If you were younger, I would definitely have expanded the number tenfold. As for now..."

Dr. Rice was only halfway through his sentence when he saw Logan's face clearly and suddenly froze. "Wait, your face... how come you look so young?"

He noticed that Logan now looked at least ten years younger, with far fewer wrinkles and gray hair than in the photos he had seen before!

Logan chuckled. "What, are you surprised? If it weren't for your GMO foods suppressing me, I could be even younger."

"That's impossible!"

Rice's gaze suddenly turned serious. "Your X gene has already weakened; there's absolutely no way you can become younger!"

Logan squinted, raised his steel claws, and said with a mocking expression, "Maybe my abilities have evolved? Those genetically modified foods might no longer have any effect on me."

Rice was taken aback for a moment, then realized what he meant, and a greedy look appeared on his face. "Logan, you really are a gem. Even in your old age, you can still create all sorts of possibilities. Your genes are still fascinating."

As he spoke, he glanced at Victor and said again, "You and Laura come back with us, and I will let the others go, including those little guys in your so-called Garden of Eden."

Obtaining Logan's genes and exploring the mysteries of X gene evolution is far more valuable than anything else!

It's important to know that he was involved in the research and development of genetically modified foods, so he naturally understands how strongly those things suppress the X gene.

Logan's X gene was able to complete its own evolution under such suppression, which is simply a biological miracle!

"Don't even think about it!"

Victor stood in front of Logan, staring intently at Rice. "Nobody's leaving with you tonight!"

After saying that, he turned his head and whispered to Logan, "I'll hold them off for a while. You take Laura and leave. This time, let me protect you!"

Victor's words warmed Logan's heart, and he immediately smiled and said, "No need, we can leave together."

Victor was taken aback, turned his head to look at Logan, and saw the confidence on his face, which puzzled him.

One X-24 and over sixty soldiers—they were no match for them now.

"Wait for my instructions. When I tell you to squat down, you squat down."

Logan pressed Laura's head down with one hand and patted Victor's shoulder with the other.

"What?"

Victor was taken aback, then noticed the red light gradually flashing in Logan's eyes.

In that crimson gaze, he sensed a profound danger; it was the smell of death.

"Crouch down!" Logan suddenly yelled, pressing Victor's shoulder down hard with his hand.

Upon hearing this voice, Dr. Rice immediately sensed something was wrong.

The next second, a crimson heat beam burst forth from the dark forest, intense heat spread, the surrounding grass withered instantly, the moisture in the air evaporated, and water vapor rose.

brush!

Two beams of red light illuminated the entire forest.

It swept across the surrounding enemies without any mercy.
