Chapter 55
A disheveled Victor sets off again.
Chapter 55 A disheveled Victor sets off again.
The room reeked of blood, and splattered blood stained the entire living room carpet red.
Logan stared coldly at the two corpses on the ground, put away his steel claws, calmly turned around and ran to the door of the private room, locking the door completely.
Then he went into the bathroom and washed the blood off his hands and clothes.
As he wiped the blood off his face in front of the mirror, he saw a small window reflected in the mirror.
The window was neither too big nor too small, just big enough for a person to barely pass through.
Logan wiped away all the obvious bloodstains, quickly slipped out of the small window, walked along the wall to the outside of the twelve-story building, successfully entered another empty private room, and returned to the auction venue.
The auction was still ongoing, with bids coming in all directions.
"Lola".
Logan left the auction house and ran towards the banquet hall, looking around.
At this moment, all the guests were in the auction house, the banquet hall was quiet and deserted, and even the servants had all left.
Suddenly, a small hand rose from behind the table. Laura looked up, her cheeks puffed out, and her suit collar was covered with crumbs from snacks.
"We need to get out of here right away."
Logan quickly stepped forward, grabbed Laura's little hand, and noticed that Laura looked at the table of snacks with a hint of reluctance.
He grabbed a handful of snacks, stuffed them into Laura's pocket, and whispered, "Let's go."
Laura, looking satisfied, patted her bulging pockets and strode away with Logan.
As instructed by Notland, Logan found the warehouse on the fourteenth floor.
However, a huge guard stood at the entrance of the warehouse.
Standing at the corner of the corridor, Logan turned half his head to the side, lost in thought.
The corner was more than ten meters away from the guard. If he rushed out rashly, the guard would have plenty of time to call for reinforcements via walkie-talkie.
The guard must be dealt with in a way that prevents him from notifying anyone else.
At that moment, Logan noticed Laura at his feet and instantly came up with a plan.
He patted Laura on the shoulder.
The girl tilted her head, looking puzzled.
"Go and distract the guards."
Logan pointed to the guards at the warehouse entrance and spoke in a low voice.
Laura turned her head to look over, then glanced at the half-eaten chocolate bar in her hand, stuffed it into her mouth without hesitation, and then strode toward the guard.
Hearing footsteps, the guard was visibly startled, quickly turning around and aiming his gun. Only after seeing it was a little girl did he relax and put his pistol away. "Little girl, are you lost?"
Laura silently tugged at the guard's sleeve and headed towards the stairwell.
Looking at the adorable girl, the guard lowered his guard and let Laura pull him along. "Where are you taking me? Where are your parents?"
Laura remained silent and led the guards straight into the stairwell.
boom!
A dull thud was heard, and a moment later Laura walked out alone, clapping her hands.
"Looks like you've done this kind of thing quite a few times; you're really good at it."
Logan touched Laura's soft face, but the girl remained silent.
The two stood in front of the warehouse door, which was locked with a heavy padlock, but such a lock was not a problem for Logan at all.
With a snap, the steel claw swept across, and the chain fell to the ground.
Pushing open the door and entering the warehouse, the huge warehouse was filled with all kinds of auction items, antique paintings, treasures and jewelry, a dazzling array, the prices of which could even buy half of Santa Fe City.
Of course, these weren't Logan's goals.
After searching for a while, he found the cage in the center of the warehouse, which was covered with a white cloth.
Logan was anxious and suddenly pulled back the white sheet.
However, as soon as the white sheet was lifted, Victor inside the cage sprang to his feet, lunging at the cage and brandishing his sharp claws through the bars. "Damn bastards, if I get out, I'll tear you shameless bastards to shreds!"
"Calm down, Victor, it's me."
Logan quickly spoke up.
"Logan? What are you doing here!"
Hearing the familiar voice, Victor was startled and withdrew his hand to touch his dirty face.
When he realized it was really Logan, he exclaimed excitedly, "Quick, let me out right now!"
Logan extended his steel claws and easily severed the cage and the chains binding Victor, and the two embraced tightly.
Logan looked at the haggard Victor and asked with concern, "What happened? With your abilities, those guys can't catch you!"
Notland may have some influence, but with the thugs under his command, he could never be a match for Victor.
Victor's expression darkened instantly, and he cursed, "It's that damn anesthetic. Those thugs came to me, and I thought they were assigning me a task, so I wasn't on guard. But they injected me with an anesthetic."
His eyes were filled with hatred. "Why? I'm already so lowly, behaving like a dog, yet why do they still treat me like this?! Logan, do you know what? Those guys treat me like a wild animal in a zoo!"
Logan sighed and patted him on the shoulder. "We'll talk about that later. We need to get out of here first."
"No!"
Victor straightened up, clenched his fists, and his eyes flashed with ferocity once more. "I'm going to kill that bastard Notland!"
Although Notland saved his life, his years of hard work should have long since repaid the kindness of that piece of bread. Now, all that remains is the hatred of betrayal!
"No need." Logan gestured for Victor to calm down. "I've already taken care of those two guys for you. Their bodies are still down there."
Victor was slightly taken aback, then gave a wry smile, patted Logan on the shoulder, and said, "Thanks."
[Prestige +10]
Logan raised an eyebrow, a pleasant surprise indeed.
"Why are you being so polite with me? Let's go. If the body is discovered, it will be too late."
Logan quickly ran out of the building before the police could cordon off the entire floor, and jumped into the car with Victor and Laura.
"Are you alright?"
Caliban, who had been waiting for a long time, breathed a long sigh of relief when he saw that Logan and his men were safe and sound. He had been scared to death when the patrolling police arrived.
"It's alright, let's go!"
Logan watched as the support police cars roared in from afar. The entire building was now completely surrounded, with police tape cordoned off the area. He quickly urged Caliban to drive away.
The police in Las Vegas are not like the useless cops in Santa Fe.
Upon leaving the building, Logan immediately returned to the hotel, picked up the professor, and drove to the highway exit.
After all, someone was killed here, and it involved mutants. Nobody knows if Dr. Rice and the S.H.I.E.L.D. guys will come running after them. In any case, we can't stay here any longer. We need to get to North Dakota as soon as possible. Maybe it's time to leave this country temporarily.
