Chapter 25
The Demon Spirit Turns into Light
Chapter 25 The Demon Spirit Turns into Light
Night always seems to fall earlier in Gotham than elsewhere. The abandoned amusement park seems to have been forgotten in a corner of the world, and the giant Ferris wheel floats silently in the air like a sleeping behemoth.
A thick fog hung in the air, obscuring the only road leading to the amusement park. The fluorescent lights in the distance barely illuminated the dim cobblestone pavement. A dull wind howled past, and a pale moon hung high in the night sky. The rustling wind sounded like the sighs of demons drifting in the air.
Two afterimages broke the silence of the night.
A demonic spirit spread its wings like a fallen angel and charged at full speed through the boundless night sky. A magnificent trail of flame followed closely behind, and the red and silver steel armor closed the distance between them at a visible speed.
Below, in the darkness of the amusement park, a ghostly green light appeared, like a will-o'-the-wisp in the night.
"They're here," a demon chuckled softly.
The demon spirit Yusak, who was in charge of leading the team, used an ancient telepathic technique to send a message to the demon spirit in the air: "Pretend to be outmatched and lure that despicable Ultraman to the designated location. He will discover that we have prepared a surprise for him."
They quickly returned, following the telepathic message from the aerial spirit.
"Are you guys blind?! I'm genuinely no match for you!" the demon screamed. "Where are my teammates?! Help me?!"
However, it was too late.
The mechanism on the shoulder of the red and silver armor opened, and a small launcher popped out from the shoulder.
With a piercing whistle, the miniature missile ignited and launched. The demon spirit in mid-air had no way to avoid it. After a heart-wrenching scream, it was hit by the missile and exploded into a dazzling display of fireworks in the night sky.
All the demons: "."
The Specium warhead, Shen You's latest weapon, currently only has one prototype warhead that has been test-fired.
Inspired by the Specium warhead developed by Guys of the Earth Defense Force in the Ultraman Mebius TV series, but its size has been reduced to be able to be mounted on a single-soldier mech.
Missiles using Specium matter as their primary destructive element possess the same destructive properties as the Specium Ray. While weaker than the previously developed light-energy cannon, they have the advantage of being instantaneous with no cooldown and zero energy consumption.
All the demons lurking in the shadows turned their gazes toward Yusak, who was leading the group.
"Anyway, it's lured the target to its designated location; its mission is complete," Yusak said coldly. "It doesn't matter; I'll take action. Proceed as planned!"
The red and silver armored warriors landed in the amusement park.
The surroundings were empty, devoid of anything. The bare, withered trees swayed in the wind, their rustling sounds like the whispers of ghosts and spirits.
Everything seems to be normal.
However, the instrument still detected fluctuations in darkness, and the values were not low. Shen You could also vaguely sense a sense of unease.
With a thought, his mental power suddenly erupted, and Ultra Vision was activated simultaneously.
Sure enough, ripples immediately appeared in the seemingly calm darkness around him. He looked around and saw that a large number of demonic spirits had silently appeared from all directions.
Most of them had dark-colored bodies, with jagged, uneven forms, each one glaring menacingly like a pack of wolves surrounding their prey.
However, when they were just a few steps away, they all stopped in unison, looking at each other as if waiting for their teammates to go first.
Finally, one of the wolf-headed demons led the charge, shouting, "He's under an illusion spell! He can't see or hear us now! Let's kill him!"
Having said that, he roared and prepared to lead the charge. But before he could take a step, Shen You suddenly turned around and, without warning, thrust out a palm. A ball of light shot out from his palm and slammed into the face of the wolf-headed demon spirit, instantly blasting its head off. The headless corpse was propelled forward a short distance by inertia before collapsing to the ground, lifeless.
"He can see!" a demon exclaimed.
"We're not afraid even if they see us, there are too many of us!"
"There's no need for chivalry when dealing with these warriors of light; let's all charge in together!"
As they spoke, several demon spirits rushed forward, shouting.
Shen You deftly dodged the demon's claws, then launched a flying kick that struck the demon squarely on the forehead, causing the demon's brains to splatter and the demon to die instantly.
He deflected a punch with his left arm and followed up with an elbow strike to the opponent's lung. At the same time, his right palm opened, and light energy poured out from his palm, instantly blasting another demon spirit through the heart.
The demons roared and surged forward from all sides, but with a series of muffled thuds, dark figures were sent flying backward one after another. The red and silver armored warrior was like an iron war god among the monsters, unstoppable and ruthless.
Just as the battle reached its climax, a gigantic shadow suddenly emerged from the darkness behind. It approached the battlefield silently until the shadow of its massive body loomed over them.
A gaping, blood-red maw!
The demon spirit Yusak's body rapidly expanded, transforming into some kind of enormous and ferocious monster! Its body was made of a gel-like substance, its eyes were like will-o'-the-wisps, and its maw was so large it seemed to devour the heavens and earth.
As Shen You was fighting his way through the besieging demons, the giant mouth suddenly launched a sneak attack and swallowed him whole!
It worked!
Yusak was overjoyed, never expecting it to come so easily.
Its stomach is not the digestive system of an ordinary creature, but its most powerful weapon. Inside its body is a special magical space, filled with magic capable of corroding any substance, even steel, instantly. Furthermore, that space also possesses a magic-blocking function, able to block any magical attacks.
In its view, the most difficult part is actually figuring out how to devour the enemy.
The demons, who had been battered and bruised, were overjoyed to see Yusak succeed. The more astute ones quickly rushed forward, showering him with compliments, saying how awesome their boss was, how worthy he was of his rank, how his skill was evident from the first move, and how that guy had no chance whatsoever.
Yusak, flattered by the compliments, became quite arrogant, puffing out his chest and thinking that Ultraman was nothing special. He thought to himself, "When those other executives mentioned taking down this guy, they all cowered like cowards. Sure enough, in the end, it was Yusak who had to step in."
They completely ignored the fact that they were once one of those cowards too.
Just as he was enjoying the flattery, a demon asked an inappropriate question.
"Hey boss, why do I get the feeling you're about to turn into light?"
Yusak glared at him fiercely.
"What nonsense are you spouting? Light and darkness have been irreconcilable since ancient times. Are you implying that I want to defect to the enemy?"
"No, no," the demon said, embarrassed. "But boss, you really do seem to be glowing."
"what?"
Yusak paused, then looked down at himself.
It seems to be true.
The incandescent, intense radiance, so dazzling it was impossible to look directly at, could not be concealed even by its thick, black, gelatinous body, and pierced outwards from its entire form.
My body feels hot, spicy, and a little sore.
Yusak paused for a moment, a strange thought popping into his mind.
Have I really defected to the enemy?
But why don't I remember it?
The next second, all the demons in the arena were shocked, deeply shaken by their demonic existence, as they witnessed this utterly bizarre and terrifying scene.
Yusak cracked.
The literal crack was like a plush toy bursting its stitches. The massive shell was stretched open by the intense light, and the first thing to burst out of that crack was a huge, silvery-white fist, followed by a divine, sun-like radiance.
Following closely behind that fist was a slender, red and silver body that flew out, growing taller and larger until it was like a pillar supporting the sky, as if one could reach out and touch the stars.
The demons below stared up at the giant bursting from its belly and Yusak split in two, and were all frozen in place.
Their mood is like the green belt along the streets of Gotham.
That's all fuck.
