Chapter 9
Temple
Chapter 9 Temple
In fact, the light energy cannon developed by Shen You has been significantly weakened compared to the original version.
If he were to transform and release the Specium Ray himself, the average temperature would be around 500,000 degrees Celsius. Although the power of the ray mainly comes from the "Specium Matter," a patented substance of the Ultra race, contained within it, temperature does not represent intensity, but it can reflect the strength of the ray's output through temperature.
For example, the maximum output of a light energy cannon is only about 100,000 degrees Celsius, and its mass is far less than that of the cannon itself.
But this already surprised the elderly gentleman next to him, who was over nine thousand years old.
On the surface, the old man appeared as calm as an old dog, with a composed expression that said, "What kind of big scene haven't I, the wizard Shazam, seen?" But in reality, he was anything but calm inside.
In his prime, he could certainly have used spells of equal or even greater power. But he was, after all, a top-tier mage.
But when did mortals come to possess such great power?
The old wizard glanced at him, said nothing, then turned and pounced on the wall of the dead end, groping around like a drunkard who had lost his car keys.
"What did you lose?" Shen You asked.
"Ha, who do you think I am? I am a wise wizard, possessing the world's finest wisdom. Do you think I would lose anything?" The old man grumbled, extremely proud.
But he paused, his tone slightly deflated.
"It's just that I'm getting old and sometimes I misplace things."
Shen You silently walked to the side following the coordinates marked on the bracelet, and pressed his hand on the seemingly empty wall.
A faint, transparent halo suddenly appeared on the wall.
"I guess you're looking for this?"
The old man's eyes widened, seemingly surprised that he had found the door he had forgotten so easily.
But he quickly concealed his surprise and coughed lightly twice.
"Ahem. I knew it was here," the old wizard grumbled. "I was just making sure the surroundings were safe."
"I think so too," Shen You agreed wholeheartedly.
"This is the gate to the Rock of Eternity, the throne that guards all magic in this world." The old wizard walked to the gate. "The demonic beasts and evil spirits are trying to take advantage of my weakened magic to usurp that position. At that time, the whole world will be dragged into chaos, and all mortals will be plunged into a hellish panic."
The temple is now occupied by a large number of dangerous demonic spirits, but they will not succeed.
Shen You's eyes lit up upon hearing this.
Does that mean there's a huge experience pack behind this door?
The wizard strode through the portal, leaving behind only emptiness. He landed on unseen solid ground, surrounded by an identical, chaotic expanse, offering no discernible direction or distinction.
The old wizard turned his head and saw Shen You, who had followed him through the door.
"I'll handle the rest. Thank you for your kindness, but you can leave now."
Shen You laughed: "Are you sure?"
I wonder who was just forced to self-destruct by a lowly demon spirit.
"Of course!" the old man said proudly. "I'm not just any wizard, but 'that wizard.' I've guarded the sacred scriptures alone for nine thousand years, and I've never needed any help!"
Shazam the wizard certainly has reason to be proud. He is a top-tier wizard, a high-level expert in magic.
Or rather, it used to be.
He looks like a smug old man now.
"Alright, I'll follow along and see what it's like to broaden my horizons," Shen You said with a smile.
"Hmph, whatever."
A few minutes later.
The old wizard roared angrily as he ran away, followed by two ferocious demons like kites. He kept throwing various flashy spells and hand seals at the two monsters, but they were all as useless as fireworks.
On the bright side, it seems his magical abilities have indeed declined more severely than he imagined. These magical spirits, which he used to take for granted, are now impossible to even break through his defenses.
On the bright side, at least he was still quite healthy, running several laps with great speed without being caught by the demon spirit. He was very strong by the standards of a nine-thousand-year-old man.
Despite being a kind and gentle Ultraman, Shen You is still too soft-hearted.
After watching the old man circle around twice, he flashed forward and threw two punches in quick succession.
The two demons didn't even see what happened; they only saw a figure flash before their eyes. With two loud bangs, before they could even see the punches being thrown, the two demons were sent flying side by side, embedding themselves in the wall with two sharp cracks, impossible to pry off.
The old man plopped down on the ground, panting heavily, and mumbled through a pout, "Mind your own business. Nothing is outside my control, Shazam the Wizard."
Shen You laughed. Good heavens, you're so hard that even after cremation you'll only have your mouth left, harder than some pancakes sold at someone's house.
So if I hadn't made a move just now, you were planning to run around until those two demons were exhausted, right?
But he remained outwardly calm, nodding earnestly and saying sincerely, "I was being nosy. Shazam the Wizard is renowned throughout the world; surely there's nothing you can't handle."
I suddenly remembered that the stove was still on, so I'll have to go now. Looking forward to your good news.
As she spoke, she turned her head as if to leave.
The old wizard panicked upon seeing this: "Hey, wait a minute!"
Shen You stopped in his tracks and turned around to see the old man's face flushed red. After blowing on his beard for a while, he finally managed to say, "Well... although it's completely under my control, it's not impossible for you to come and see if you insist."
"No, no, I won't insist at all, I won't trouble you."
The old man grew even more anxious and finally adopted a "I'm going all out" stance, shouting, "Wait! Okay, I admit it, I'm incredibly weak right now, I've never felt so powerless before."
The temple needs my protection now, and the demons need to be driven away. But to be honest, I'm not very confident.
So I might actually need a little...uh...help...
His face grew redder and redder as he struggled to utter the word.
"Help?" Shen You asked.
The old man blew on his beard again, as if relieved of a great burden.
"You said it, not I did."
Shen You: "."
A moment later, inside the temple at the Eternal Rock.
"Shazam the Wizard is nothing special!"
A demonic creature with the appearance of a bull walked to the throne in the center of the temple, its face full of undisguised smugness.
"If you want to live, stay away from there," the tall, dark figure said coldly.
The Minotaur was startled and hurriedly moved away from the throne as if it had been electrocuted, looking at the tall, dark figure with a blank and terrified expression.
"That's the seat of that lord," the tall shadow said coldly. "When that lord returns, imagine the consequences if he finds out you've taken his seat."
The Minotaur Demon shuddered and quickly shrank back, remaining silent.
Old Niu dared to be arrogant about everything else, but he truly dared not be arrogant about this. He knew all too well how terrifying that official was; being blamed for it would be no laughing matter.
The next moment, the temple doors were suddenly blasted open from the outside.
Shazam the wizard stood tall at the entrance, his body crackling with electricity, and his eyes immediately fell on the tall figure among the demons.
The demon spirit was shrouded in eerie darkness, and its aura alone made it clear that it was on a completely different level from other demon spirits.
"Ha, Fethos the Demon, I should have known it was you leading this bunch of villains."
"Long time no see, wizard." Fethos looked at the wizard with a calm, cold smile. "Not long to live?"
The old wizard stood ramrod straight: "I am Shazam the wizard, guardian of the Rock of Eternity, the supreme master of magic! You lowly villains, as long as I have a breath left, I...I...I..."
I've really run out of excuses. Young man, when are you planning to make your move?
"Huh?" All the demons were stunned.
The next moment, a divine and dazzling light shone throughout the entire hall.
Fethos turned his head, his pupils suddenly contracting.
It saw a fist.
A gigantic, silver fist, larger than its entire body.
Trailing a dazzling light, it fell like a shooting star from outer space.
Fethos's mind went completely blank.
Only one big character remains.
Dangerous!
