Chapter 29
Entering the Dream
Chapter 29 Entering the Dream
Shen You had a strange dream.
In the dream, a dark red sky shrouded Gotham, an eerie atmosphere pervaded the air, and the heavy atmosphere was suffocating.
Skyscrapers shattered with a sharp explosion, collapsing one after another. Reinforced concrete was twisted into grotesque shapes by the blast, ruins and rubble scattered at every street corner, covered in layers of dust and debris. Smoke and dust enveloped Gotham, and in the distance came mournful screams and desperate cries, like the final lament of this city before its end.
Shen You walked along the dilapidated street, looking at the burning wreckage and the ruins around him, his face somewhat blank.
He couldn't quite recall how things had turned out this way, nor could he remember why he was there. The shattered streets beneath his feet gave off a strange sense of unreality, and the choking smoke made him somewhat irritable.
The sky cracked open.
Countless fragments shattered and fell, like a mirror being smashed to pieces. A bizarre face appeared in the shattered sky, with a red face, colorful eyes, and a body covered in red barbs.
He did remember what he looked like.
"Hahahaha!" the strange figure roared with laughter from within the crack. "Another world has fallen into darkness. This place is now my domain from another dimension!"
"You're that... who was it again? Don't remind me later."
Shen You frowned, trying hard to awaken his long-forgotten memories.
"An alien from another dimension. The king of part-time jobs? The boss killer?"
The red-faced monster roared in fury: "What 'Emperor of Hired Managers'? I am Yapool, an extradimensional being, the embodiment of hatred and resentment! Your Ultra race's deepest nightmare!"
"Uh, sorry, you're ranked a bit low on the Land of Light's wanted list, I don't quite remember," Shen You said apologetically.
He remembered that Yapool was Ace's main antagonist in the TV series, the mastermind behind everything. However, over the long history of Ultraman, his prestige gradually declined, and his subsequent appearances mostly involved him working for some more powerful figures.
It's one thing for him to work, but the real problem is that he enjoys jinxing his bosses. Every time he's about to die, he likes to shout something like "Long live Lord XXX!" to show his loyalty. However, it turns out that every time his loyalty is proven to be a curse, no matter how high-ranking or powerful the boss he's jinxed, they all inevitably end up being reduced to ashes by Ultraman.
Yabo was furious and yelled, saying what nonsense he was spouting, slandering people out of thin air, and how he had ever cheated the boss to death, etc.
"Well, Emperor of the Universe, you're the one who killed the Aliens Empera, aren't you?" Shen You began to recount the details.
"That's because he just stood there and attacked without knowing how to dodge skills. It's the behavior of a bronze player on a max-level account. It has nothing to do with me," Yapool said confidently.
"And what about Dark Lugiel? A ruthless individual who single-handedly slaughtered his way through the Land of Light. Couldn't you say he was killed by you?"
"What about Judas, the emperor-level cosmic demon of the multiverse? Was he also killed by your sycophancy?"
Yabo people: "."
The extradimensional being grew increasingly agitated, letting out a loud howl as its enormous body burst forth from the crack, its massive fists slamming down towards Shen You's head.
"Wait a minute."
Shen You gestured for him to stop. The Yapool man abruptly stopped his fist before it landed, glaring at him angrily.
"What now?"
"Wait a minute, I think I'm in DC. Where did the Yapools come from in Gotham City?" Shen You said, resting his chin on his hand and trying to remember. "You time-traveled too?"
Or rather, "
With a thought in mind, Shen You closed his eyes and concentrated his mental energy to prepare.
The surrounding scenery abruptly shifted. The enormous Yapool vanished like a phantom, and the crimson sky and burning streets began to spin. Everything was sucked into a gigantic vortex, swallowed up into chaos.
When Shen You opened his eyes again, he was back in the coffee shop, and found that he had fallen asleep in his seat at some point.
Sure enough, it was just a nightmare, something I had imagined.
"You actually woke up on your own?"
The old wizard's voice reached Shen You's ears. Shen You turned his head and saw the old wizard Shazam looking at him with some surprise.
"This is a rare and powerful dream energy. I have some special methods to avoid being captured by nightmares. And you can do it too?" The old wizard paused, looking at Shen You with a complicated expression. "Your mental strength is also very strong, you alien."
"I have received some relevant training."
As he spoke, Shen You stood up and stretched his limbs.
"What's going on?"
"A sudden surge of dreamlike magic has likely enveloped the entire city by now. Take a look for yourself."
Shen You looked around and found that everyone in the coffee shop had indeed fallen asleep.
Tom, a regular customer, was slumped over the table, drool piling up at the corner of his mouth. Old Wang, a regular from Gotham's Chinatown, was also slumped over a table in the restaurant, fast asleep and mumbling in his sleep.
If you get closer, you can vaguely hear him muttering something like "My sister-in-law is great."
Even the talk show hosts on TV fell asleep, snoring loudly into the microphone, their snoring echoing in every household.
Even Kara, the Kryptonian girl, wasn't spared. She was studying with a supplementary learning material called "English Textbook Partner," and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep inside the book, her golden hair sticking up and down on her head.
Oh, that probably doesn't matter much. She usually dozes off while reading anyway.
"The magic of dreams—this field should be under the control of Morpheus of the Endless Family. I don't know how such a mishap could have occurred." The old wizard frowned. "But this will be very dangerous."
My dream-entering spell can help me enter the dream realm to find the culprit, but now I have only one-tenth of my magic power left, and I don't know if I can handle the dangers ahead.
"You stay here and watch over my body. If you notice anything amiss, wake me up immediately."
"Or I have a better idea," Shen You said. "Perhaps you can take me with you."
"you?"
The old wizard frowned.
"I know you are strong, alien. But dreams and reality are completely different dimensions, and dreams have their own laws. I understand the rules of dreams, so my magic works within them."
And you? No matter how powerful you are in reality, you can't bring that power into your dreams.
"Don't worry, I have some understanding of the laws of dreams," Shen You said confidently.
The Land of Light strives to help each Ultraman develop into a well-rounded, all-around warrior, and there are related courses in the Dream Realm as well.
Throughout the various TV series, multiple Ultraman predecessors have entered dreams to defeat monsters that control those dreams. This proves that the power of light can also be effective in the dream world.
Seeing his confidence, the old wizard was even more surprised.
Even the laws of the dream realm are dabbled in? Is your knowledge that extensive?
This made him even more curious about Shen You's background.
"Alright. But I must warn you beforehand, if a crisis arises, I won't be able to spare the time to protect you right now."
The old wizard took a deep breath, waved his arm, and shouted in a loud voice.
"So now."
Let us drift into a dream!
