Chapter 57

Demons and Believers

Chapter 57 Demons and Believers

In the depths of dimension, elsewhere.

In the darkness, a pair of scarlet eyes suddenly opened.

"Outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!"

As he replayed the terrifying power displayed by the giant of light in his mind, Belial still couldn't help but shudder.

The one Shen You just killed was one of his clones. His true body is hidden deep within his own dimension.

Demons like them, who spend most of their time roaming between dimensions, usually send out clones. This is because it's difficult for their main bodies to travel to other dimensions, and also for safety reasons.

After all, some dimensions are quite dangerous; one wrong move and you could attract the attention of some top wizards or mages. Those who spend all their time out having fun are either incredibly powerful and confident super bosses, or just plain stupid and willing to sell their bodies.

For example, today's example highlights the importance of having a clone.

The giant of light's performance truly exceeded his expectations. It was able to exert such combat power within his dimension, and his presence could even be seen without any hindrance within his domain.

He still can't figure out why.

You've got X-ray vision, haven't you?

To be more precise, however, he was completely baffled by the giant's existence.

It was unlike any ordinary being he had ever seen in any dimension; he couldn't sense any concept of flesh and blood from that giant.

Although it sounds strange, in his demonic senses, the other party felt more like a walking sun, something that made him instinctively want to escape and stay away from, a natural aversion to him, a creature of darkness.

Therefore, his own clone also met a rather tragic end.

Moreover, even if it were a clone, the pain it endured would still be reflected back to the original body. So now, whenever he closes his eyes, the scene of that silver fist, carrying ten thousand tons of divine power, breaking the sound barrier and crashing down still appears before his eyes.

Belial shook his head, forcing himself to banish the image from his mind.

No, I am a demon, a being that spreads fear and despair.

How can I be afraid?

Impossible! Demons never fear!

But if I were to say that I should rush out right now to settle scores with that Ultraman...

Belial hesitated for a moment, then decided to let him off the hook for the time being.

Yes, but it's unnecessary.

A clever devil will always choose the wisest way to solve a problem, rather than rushing in like a cook eager to throw himself into someone's life.

For example, right now, instead of blindly rushing in to fight, it would be better to leverage his advantage as a demon and use the supreme laws of time to punish that despicable giant.

Anyway, I'll live a long time, let's see who outlives whom.

Belial was quickly convinced by his own reasoning and sat down with a clear conscience.

This isn't cowardice; rather, it's a strategic plan with the lowest risk and highest success rate chosen after careful consideration—a manifestation of the wisdom of a mature, cunning devil.

It's definitely not because he's afraid of that humanoid walking sun.

As for those demon spirits, let them be sold.

They're just a bunch of useless demon spirits, a bunch of trash who's good for nothing and good for nothing. So what if they're wiped out? He doesn't care at all.

Just as he was lost in thought, a voice suddenly rang in Belial's ears.

"The Great Evil God"

"This is the blood of a virgin, offered to your soul as you requested."

That was one of Belial's followers.

He is also the most devout follower he has cultivated on this earth. He prays almost eight times a day; if there were a voicemail system for prayers, Belial would probably have over 99 messages a day if he didn't leave them.

Of course, the devil is always busy. So believers will find that their prayers have been effectively delivered, yet there are very few responses.

I've already read the classics, I won't reply.

Now, having just suffered a blow, Belial closed his eyes and tasted the soul that the believers had given him through the ritual, which calmed him down a little.

On a whim, he replied to the message, which was unusual for him.

"I have indeed received your prayers."

The believer trembled as the powerful voice echoed in his mind, and he was instantly filled with excitement.

He replied! He actually replied to my message!

It cares about me!

"But that's not enough," Belial said in a deep voice. "I'm not in good condition right now; I need more blood."

"Ah?" The believer tensed up immediately. "You're not feeling well. Could it be because there weren't enough sacrifices? It's my fault, Lord Evil God. I should have found more sacrifices to give you more blood."

Even Belial was taken aback by these words.

Are believers these days so ideologically enlightened?

However, Belial's situation had nothing to do with him. On the contrary, it was because he personally descended to earth to clean up the mess for another group of believers, and ended up being crushed by the other side.

This situation is somewhat like a simp hearing that his goddess has a sore throat, feeling sorry for her and saying, "It's my fault, I didn't take good care of you." The goddess replies, "No, it's just because I overused my throat while socializing with people last night."

In comparison, Belial suddenly felt that compared to those useless demon spirits who were good at making mistakes and causing trouble, these human believers were actually loyal and reassuring.

So he gently reassured him: "Do a good job. If you can provide enough, then rewarding you with a sudden transfer to a higher position in the future is not out of the question."

The believer trembled: "I guarantee you'll be satisfied! I'll speed things up and collect even more high-quality souls!"

There was no further response.

Silence returned in the darkness.

After instantly defeating Belial's clone, Shen You activated the Time-Space Bracelet again, transforming his entire body into a ball of light that flew straight out of the mirror and disappeared back into the red and silver armor.

Now their leader has been killed and blown up like fireworks. Seeing the situation was bad, the lord turned and ran, only to be pushed into a spring and pinned down. The remaining shrimp soldiers and crab generals were neither able to fight nor run away, so they could only kneel weakly on the ground, pretending to be as obedient and innocent as possible, hoping that they might still have a way to survive.

Shen You cleared his throat after returning to his armor.

"Very good, it seems everyone else is here. So, who would like to speak first and explain the situation?"

Shen You glanced around and caught sight of the Poisonous Scorpion Demon Spirit, whose head was almost buried in its pincers.

"Don't look at others, I'm talking about you, Scorpion."

The scorpion demon trembled, then weakly crawled out and whispered.

"What can I do for you?"

"When I came in earlier, didn't I think I heard someone say they wanted revenge on me?"

The Poisonous Scorpion Demon shuddered, her face plastered with a forced smile: "No, no. I just thought about it again, and I'm actually not that familiar with Yusak."

"What do you all seem to be doing here today?" Shen You asked.

"Actually, it's nothing much," the Poison Scorpion Demon confessed honestly. "There's a human called 'The Riddler' who's planning something big. We're planning to capture Batman and use him as a sacrifice for that... oh wait, I mean, that idiot Belial, so we were originally going to help him."

Shen You narrowed his eyes.

Let me explain this "big thing" in detail.

It's the third update today, please keep reading!!!
