Chapter 65
The Lasso of Lies
Chapter 65 The Lasso of Lies
A fiery red sky, crisscrossing streets, and towering buildings create a grand and bustling scene. Tower-like structures and wide streets complement each other, while gleaming GG signs shimmer with dazzling colors. Flying vehicles dart through the skies, leaving behind shimmering contrails.
Astra stood on the edge of the palace rooftop, looking down at the magnificent city below, her expression momentarily dazed.
This is Krypton.
The red sun shone brightly on the earth, illuminating the dazzling city, its architecture a typical Kryptonian style. Astra faced this magnificent city, feeling a dizziness and a throbbing pain in his temples.
"Honey, what happened?"
Astra turned her head at the sound. Standing behind her was a burly, strong man, his black, form-fitting combat suit tightly hugging his powerful muscles. He had a thick, messy, and coarse beard, and his facial features were sharply defined.
That was her husband, Norn.
"I...I don't know." Astra rubbed her temples. "Something feels off, but I can't remember what it is."
"Relax, darling. Nothing's wrong," Norn said softly, taking her hand. "We did it."
"It worked?" Astra asked, momentarily bewildered.
"The Great Purge!" Norn exclaimed excitedly. "Now everyone on Krypton has been affected by the Great Purge and has willingly submitted to us!"
We've succeeded! You and I, together we've reached the pinnacle of this nation, this planet, becoming the true and sole rulers of Krypton!
"We...yes." Astra's expression shifted slightly, as if she had remembered something.
His expression gradually became excited, and he couldn't help but smile.
"We have achieved our long-cherished ambition: to become the rulers of this planet. Krypton will flourish in our hands!"
After saying that, the two looked at each other and burst into laughter.
Astra laughed for a full half minute before finally stopping, but her husband showed no sign of stopping, still laughing heartily with his head tilted back and mouth open.
Seeing his appearance, Astra felt a pang of shame.
It turns out that this looks so stupid from a third-person perspective.
She coughed and patted Norn on the shoulder, indicating that that was enough.
However, the latter did not stop; instead, he laughed even more wildly and exaggeratedly, to the point that it became almost unbearable.
As Norn turned around abruptly, Astra was horrified to discover that her husband's eyes had turned into a pair of light bulbs, instantly triggering her instinctive alarm.
It was as if a single word had been deeply imprinted into her mind.
Dangerous!
"Hahahaha, conquer Krypton? You really dare to dream. Just look at who I am!"
The husband's dough sheet burst open in front of her, revealing a silver-white head with a steel-like frame. A red-silver body emerged from the husk, radiating a blinding golden light, and its size rapidly expanded until it became a towering giant.
In an instant, Krypton was engulfed in chaos, and the entire world began to crumble. Buildings collapsed, the ground sank, the sky seemed to burn, and the sun exploded with a deafening roar.
The giant stood towering in the center of the apocalyptic world, looking at her with a mocking gaze. Astra felt as if she had fallen into an abyss; immense fear almost swallowed her whole. She wanted to resist, but she couldn't move a single finger. All she could do was stand against the raging wind, facing that terrifying, enormous silhouette, and let out a piercing, heart-wrenching roar.
"Ughhhhh!!!"
The next moment, the scene suddenly disappeared.
The burning sky, the destroyed city, and the giant standing amidst the destruction vanished in an instant.
In the blink of an eye, Astra found herself firmly tied to a chair, screaming at an empty wall with her mouth open.
A young man and an old man with a white beard stood on either side of her, arms crossed, watching her.
Astra opened her mouth, blinked, and looked at the two people beside her with a hint of wariness.
The scene was a bit embarrassing.
Shen You glanced sideways at the old wizard beside him: "By the way, is it normal for her to scream so loudly?"
"Well, I guess so." The old wizard stroked his long beard. "The 'Lasso of Lies' on her body corresponds to the Amazon's 'Lasso of Truth,' a magical artifact woven from lies."
The bound being will see lies meticulously woven for it by the ropes, an illusion from which it cannot escape. But none of us know exactly what she saw, so perhaps it was something... indescribable.
"I see." Shen You nodded.
The Kryptonian woman glared at the two men. In her rage, she immediately tried to slam her hand on the table and crush the two who dared to offend her and were pointing fingers at her into concrete with incredible speed—well, partly because she was tempted to kill them to silence them.
Then I realized I couldn't do it.
She was firmly strapped to the seat beneath her, bound tightly by the rope of lies. While not as famous or powerful as the Lasso of Truth in Diana's hands, it was still an enchanted artifact from the Greek pantheon, and opening it wouldn't be easy.
Moreover, after trying to gather her strength, Astra quickly discovered that she couldn't muster any strength at all.
Even when trying to use my thermal vision, I could only feel my eye sockets were a little red and hot, but nothing could come out.
It was as if these two people had somehow drained her dry.
Astra narrowed her eyes, glaring at the two men with resentment: "What did you do to me?"
"Uh, it's nothing, just using the Red Sun brand juicer to drain your solar energy so you won't do anything reckless. This will make things easier for both of us," Shen You said, arms crossed. "Then we have a couple of questions to ask."
"Ha, go ahead and use your dirtiest and most despicable methods, you evil Light Star people," Astra said coldly, "but don't expect me to utter a single word."
I am a proud Kryptonian warrior. We never surrender, never compromise, and never bow to evil. Do whatever you want, and do it well.
"We've heard even stranger names before, from the Light Star People's Club."
At least it sounds better than Giant Mountain Super Power.
"Don't put it so harshly," Shen You said seriously. "It sounds like you're the one who invaded someone else's planet, while we're the good guys."
nice guy?
Astra squinted and looked down at the classic "tortoise shell bondage" ropes binding her body.
Then he raised his head and squinted at the two people in front of him.
Their expressions seemed to say, "Are you sure?"
"Well"
Shen You turned to look at the old wizard.
It seems to mean that he tied her up, and it's none of my business.
The old wizard turned to look beside him, only to find himself completely alone. He couldn't seem to shake off the blame. So he stroked his beard and calmly said, "I merely cast a binding spell; the method of binding was up to the lasso itself."
