Chapter 1816
Campfire and Chess
Chapter 1817 The Shocking Turn of Events in Chabro!
On the way back, Schneizel played with the white king in his hand, remaining silent.
This aroused some curiosity in Kanon, who was sitting opposite him, but he didn't say anything, suppressing this curiosity deep in his heart.
"Are you curious, Kanon?"
Schneizel slowly turned the white king in his hand and asked.
"No, Your Highness. It's just that I feel Your Highness didn't get the desired result on this trip."
Kanon responded cautiously.
"No. I've already achieved the result I wanted, Kanon."
Schneizel understood what his advisor was thinking and what he was worried about.
But that has nothing to do with it.
Schneizel would not blame Kanon for this.
"It seems that His Highness has a very high opinion of that Commissioner Durandal."
“No, that’s not why I think highly of Lord Durandal. Rather, Gilbert Durandal himself is a king.”
"king?"
Kanon's expression changed, and he looked at Schneizel with surprise.
It is extremely rare for someone to receive such high praise from Schneizel.
"Yes, that's right. He was a king. A former king."
Schneizel lowered his gaze to the white king in his hand—a piece that Durandal had given him as a parting gift.
Isn't it a very meaningful gift?
Just then, Schneizel's convoy suddenly slowed down and gradually came to a stop.
"what's going on?"
Kanon turned around and asked the driver in front.
"Your Highness, Lord Kanon, the caravan ahead seems to have encountered traffic control. The traffic control personnel hope we can use an alternative route back to our base."
"Traffic control? Is that so? Let's take another route!"
Schneizel casually gave the order.
At the same time, he turned his head to look out the window and noticed that there were more heavily armed federal soldiers on both sides of the street.
There was no such martial law arrangement when he went to visit Durandal in the morning.
"Is a big shot here? It seems that the meeting is in the next few days."
Schneizel slowly held the white king in his palm, a resolute look in his eyes.
Meanwhile, in the heart of the traffic control zone, federal lawmakers from around the world were checking into the hotels arranged for them.
These members of parliament, in small groups, clearly divided the hotel's hall into several areas according to their different groups.
The members of parliament discussed various interesting topics recently, some in hushed tones and others with smiles on their faces. Some members of parliament looked around with a troubled expression and whispered about the major events that had recently occurred.
The civil war between the Titans and the Valley, the dimensional quake, the invasion of extradimensional monsters, and other topics have sparked much discussion among these councilors.
Amidst these conversations, numerous waiters carrying fine wines and snacks moved back and forth, providing pre-dinner service to the councilors, appearing exceptionally busy.
Amidst the bustling discussion, several strange figures suddenly entered the hall, which was off-limits to unauthorized personnel. The security guards stationed nearby immediately spotted them and dispatched officers to intercept them without hesitation.
"Stop immediately! Raise your hands, turn around and squat down!"
Without hesitation, the security personnel drew their pistols and spread out in a fan shape, attempting to intercept the strange group of people.
But the moment these strange people looked up at the gun barrels, the security personnel were instantly jolted by the sight of their eyes filled with the red light of birds flying through them.
"Urgent intelligence number one! Urgent intelligence number one!! Evacuate all councilors immediately!! Hurry! Hurry!"
Without hesitation, the security captain turned and rushed into the hall, grabbed the member of parliament with the highest priority for evacuation, and led him away while explaining the situation.
However, several violent explosions rang out at the entrance of the hall, sending countless pieces of flesh flying. The splattered blood instantly stained the area near the entrance of the hall red, eliciting deafening screams. A piercing roar also erupted from outside the hall, and as floor-to-ceiling windows shattered, a huge black shadow crashed into the hall. Then, a world-shattering explosion tore through the sky above Chabro.
The chaotic footsteps and rapid, disordered breathing made He Ming lift his eyes and look towards the door.
"Is this Slag? Come in."
"Yes, sir! Excuse me, Colonel."
Keenes, looking hurried, opened the door, glanced at the room where only He Ming was, secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and immediately stated his purpose.
"Colonel! Emergency! Half an hour ago, Chabro was attacked. The hotel where federal lawmakers were staying was attacked by suicide bombers. According to current information, at least dozens of lawmakers have died in the attack. Chabro headquarters is currently under press control, and the outside world should not yet be aware of the attack on the lawmakers."
"what?!"
He Ming's expression changed abruptly, and he stood up abruptly, looking at Adino, who was working on documents on the table.
The latter immediately connected with the intelligence network of Chabro headquarters.
"Master, the situation is true. Furthermore, there is a file encrypted with special permissions within the intelligence network. You happen to possess the corresponding permissions, would you like to decrypt it?"
Adino's report made He Ming's gaze sharpen.
"Decryption".
"clear."
The next second, several photos and a fragmented audio recording appeared before He Ming and Kenneth's eyes.
"There's something in those people's eyes, like crimson birds?"
When Kenneth saw it, he immediately exclaimed in surprise.
"Wait a minute. Could this be the power that the legendary emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire wielded?"
He Ming's expression gradually became serious.
"Adino, contact General Gop."
A few minutes later, Gop's tired voice came through the communication channel.
"Colonel Ming, it seems you already know."
“I want to hear the truth, General Gop.”
He Ming said in a deep voice.
"The truth? Does it matter, Colonel Ming?"
Gopp's response made Kenneth's eyes widen in surprise.
He subconsciously looked at He Ming.
He Ming slowly closed his eyes and pondered for a moment.
"Important, yet not important."
"Is that so? Then be prepared! The sword of punishment is destined to fall upon sinners."
Gop chuckled softly and responded firmly.
"Alright! I understand the punishment! Then, I will choose the right time to enter the fray."
"Please, Colonel Ming."
After disconnecting the communication, Gop got up and looked out the window, where he could see the hotel that had collapsed in the previous explosion.
"Is there any news about that prince?"
"Lieutenant Charlie of Intelligence responded."
"No! There's been no movement at all. We've just returned to our base."
