Chapter 23
: Crashing into Thor! The Tramp Thor?
"Bruce, as a qualified store employee, keeping the store clean is a basic requirement."
Li Ang sat behind the counter, legs crossed, gesturing and giving orders.
"Also, don't be so nervous, this is the safest place in all of New York."
"Okay...okay, boss."
Banner hunched his shoulders, pushed up his glasses which were about to slip off, and continued wiping the rag with a wry smile.
He is indeed very easily frightened now.
Who would have thought that a top physicist with seven doctoral degrees is currently cleaning windows in a tiny shop of just a few dozen square meters?
Just then, the wind chimes at the shop entrance rang.
"Mr. Li Ang, the car is already waiting outside."
Coulson pushed open the door and entered, his signature smile and signature hairline.
His gaze swept across the store, finally settling on Banner, who was wiping the windows.
The agent's intuition made him narrow his eyes.
That back view... why does it look so familiar?
"Mr. Li Ang, this is...?"
Coulson's fingers unconsciously reached for his waist.
"Oh, newly recruited cheap labor."
Leon interrupted Coulson's scrutiny at the opportune moment, stepped out from behind the counter, and casually patted Banner on the shoulder.
"Cheap, obedient, and efficient."
"S.H.I.E.L.D. even conducts background checks on me for hiring cheap labor?"
Li Ang looked at Coulson with a smile, his tone slightly teasing.
Coulson looked away, and the sense of danger vanished inexplicably as Li Ang interrupted him.
The seemingly timid middle-aged man in front of me really does appear to be just a down-on-his-luck homeless person.
"No, it just feels like he's an old friend I've been missing for a long time."
Coulson smiled politely. "Now that everything's ready, shall we set off?"
"Let's go, I can't wait to see that hammer."
Li Ang picked up a lightweight suitcase and glanced back at Banner before leaving.
"Bruce, keep an eye on the store. If anyone comes looking for trouble..."
Li Ang pointed to the Anywhere Door behind the counter, "You know how to use the Anywhere Door to find me."
……
Two hours later, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s private plane landed at a temporary airport in New Mexico.
After switching to a black SUV, Leon and Coulson drove along the desert highway leading to Old Bridge.
As night fell, the starry sky over the wilderness was exceptionally clear, but the atmosphere inside the car was somewhat somber.
"Mr. Li Ang, that hammer..."
Coulson asked tentatively as he drove.
"Monitoring data shows that there is a very special force field around it."
"We tried using cranes, tow trucks, and even electromagnetic attraction, but we couldn't move it an inch."
"It's as if it's welded to the earth."
"normal."
Li Ang lowered the car window, feeling the cool desert night breeze, and toyed with a red apple that he had somehow pulled out.
"That's Mjolnir. If just any Tom, Dick, or Harry could pick it up, where would Asgard's reputation stand?"
"As...what?" Coulson didn't catch the awkward word.
"Nothing much, just a place that produces muscular men and family dramas."
Click.
Li Ang took a bite of the apple, making a crisp crunching sound. "Simply put, that thing recognizes its master."
"And he's an extremely picky snob; only people of high moral character can lift it."
Coulson looked thoughtful. "You mean, this is a genetically locked weapon?"
"You can understand it that way."
Li Ang shrugged. "There are only a handful of people on this planet who can lift it."
Before he could finish speaking...
The bushes in front suddenly shook violently.
A golden figure, like a mad boar, suddenly leaped onto the road without warning.
"Shit!"
Coulson's pupils contracted sharply, and he slammed on the brakes.
But this is an SUV that can travel at 120 km/h.
squeak! ! !
The screeching sound of brakes pierced the night sky, accompanied by the acrid smell of tires rubbing against the ground.
boom!
A dull thud was heard.
The person flew through the air like a rag doll that had been kicked, tracing an ungraceful parabola before crashing heavily onto the sand and rolling more than a dozen times before coming to a stop.
"Damn it! I hit someone!"
Coulson's expression changed, and he quickly unbuckled his seatbelt.
Where would a group of people stage accidents to extort money come from in this desolate wilderness?
Li Ang remained seated in the passenger seat, calmly chewing on an apple, watching the figure rolling on the ground.
coming.
That unlucky prince who was banned by his own father, usurped by his younger brother, and sent to Earth to experience a transformation program.
Coulson jumped out of the car, first-aid kit in hand, running and shouting, "Sir! Are you alright? Hang in there, I'm a paramedic!"
However, before he could even get close...
The victim, who should have been on the verge of death, suddenly sprang to his feet.
He was a blond, muscular man.
His plaid shirt was stretched taut by his muscles, and his handsome face was filled with rage and confusion.
"How dare you attack me?!"
Thor roared, the sound making Coulson's eardrums ache, "You lowly ants! How dare you attack Thor with these metal monsters?!"
Coulson stopped in his tracks, his expression turning somewhat strange.
He was hit by a car and thrown five meters away, got up unharmed, and even called himself Thor?
He's either a super soldier or a severe case of chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) patient who escaped from a mental hospital.
"Sir, please calm down."
Coulson maintained his professional demeanor, "You were in a car accident, you need to..."
"Shut up, you mortal!"
Thor abruptly interrupted Coulson, slapping the hood of the car.
Clang!
The thick steel plate dented instantly, leaving a clear handprint.
Tell me! Where is this place?
Thor's eyes were bloodshot. "Heimdall! Answer me! Heimdall!!"
He roared at the night sky, but only the mournful sound of the desert wind answered him.
Coulson's hand stealthily reached for the stun gun on his lower back; this guy was definitely a dangerous individual.
Just then, the passenger door opened.
Li Ang slowly walked down.
Hey, big guy.
Li Ang said lazily, "Can you stop yelling at thin air? You're disturbing my stargazing."
Thor whirled around, staring intently at Li Ang: "How dare you disrespect me? Do you know who I am? I am Thor, the God of Thunder! Son of Odin!"
"Oh, Thor."
Li Ang nodded, his face showing an expression of "I believe you."
Then, he tossed it casually.
call out.
A bright red object traced an arc in the air.
Thor instinctively reached out and caught it.
It is a red apple that has been bitten into.
"Here, take it and eat it, homeless man."
Li Ang had his hands in his pockets, his eyes carrying a hint of mockery and a touch of charity.
"Look how hungry you are, your voice is weak."
"Get out of the way if you're full, we're in a hurry to get some late-night snacks."
At that moment, the air froze.
Coulson's lips twitched. If he wasn't mistaken, this was the Thor that Leon had mentioned.
If what the other party said is true...
Throw a rotten apple at Thor?
This move... is very Li Ang-esque.
Thor stared at the drool-covered, mangled apple in his hand, his golden eyebrows practically standing on end.
humiliation!
An unprecedented humiliation!
He is the prince of Asgard, the guardian of the Nine Realms, and the wielder of thunder!
Even if he is exiled, even if he loses his divine power, he is still a god!
When did it become the turn of an ordinary person to humiliate him by treating him like a beggar?
"You bastard!!!"
Thor furiously crushed the apple, juice splattering everywhere.
He spread his arms, roared to the sky, and tried to summon the familiar thunder to punish the arrogant mortal before him.
"For the glory of Asgard! Lightning! Hear my command!!"
He struck his coolest summoning pose.
however……
one second.
two seconds.
Three seconds passed.
The night sky remained calm, without a single cloud, except for a crow that flew by, cawing awkwardly.
There was no lightning, no thunder.
The scene was very embarrassing.
Thor froze, staring at his hands in disbelief: "No...this can't be...my power..."
"Pfft."
A sneer, undisguised, broke the silence.
Leon took two steps closer, approached Thor, looked him up and down, and finally clicked his tongue twice.
"Dude, nice pose, but the special effects are lacking."
Leon patted Thor's stiff arm and lowered his voice.
"Thor? You look more like a construction worker who lost his hammer."
"What's wrong? Out of power? Do you need me to lend you two AA batteries?"
"You..." Thor was so angry that he trembled all over and raised his fist to hit him.
But having lost his divine power, his movements were as slow as a tortoise in Li Ang's eyes.
Li Ang merely turned slightly to the side, and tripped over his own feet.
thump!
The mighty Thor fell flat on his face, like a dog, right down.
"Let's go, Coulson."
Coulson glanced pityingly at Thor, who was lying on the ground questioning his existence, shook his head, got into the car, and started the engine.
hum!
The SUV kicked up a cloud of dust and sped away.
Thor was left alone, kneeling on the road, watching the taillights disappear into the distance.
In this unfamiliar world, I experienced the emotion called despair for the first time.
In the car.
Coulson glanced at the increasingly smaller figure in the rearview mirror: "Mr. Leon, is this the Thor you were talking about? Is he really the God of Thunder?"
"Whether he is Thor or not is not important."
Li Ang took a bite of the freshly taken-out apple, looking out the window at the dense array of searchlights in the distance, a cunning glint in his eyes.
"The important thing is that right now he's just a pathetic loser with nothing."
"And the poor are often the most likely high-quality customers to empty their pockets to buy hope."
The vehicles rolled over the sand dunes, their blinding searchlights illuminating the night sky as if it were daytime.
At the bottom of the circular meteorite crater, a warhammer engraved with ancient patterns stands silently.
"Is this the Meow Meow Hammer?"
