Chapter 65
Fury: Is this the Avengers? No, this is the Leon Alliance!
Thirty thousand feet above the clouds.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, like a steel island, cleaved through the thick sea of clouds.
The cold wind howled, making the warning flags on the deck flutter loudly.
Nick Fury stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window of the control tower, his hands behind his back.
Steve was wiping his shield with his head down, and Peggy was sitting beside him.
The two of them have a style that looks like it was cut from a romance movie, exuding a pink bubble called "the sour smell of love".
Meanwhile, in another part of the conference room, Jane sat to one side, looking at the documents in her hands, her beautiful eyes sparkling.
"Ahem, ladies and gentlemen."
Fury cleared his throat, his one eye scanning the crowd. "S.H.I.E.L.D. has just suffered a catastrophic attack. Loki took the Tesseract."
"Our war... has begun."
His voice was deep and powerful, attempting to create a sense of tragic heroism in a desperate battle.
"We need unity. We need a..."
hum!
An extremely untimely vibration interrupted Fury's speech.
A pink door appeared in the center of the conference room.
"Enemy attack!"
Agent Hill drew his gun instantly, and Captain America, upon hearing this, reflexively raised his shield to shield Carter.
"Stay calm, stay calm."
A hand reached out from the crack, followed by three colorful gashapon machines being pushed out.
Thor, Banner, and Natasha each pushed a cart, looking like hardworking and conscientious employees.
Li Ang was dressed casually in a hoodie and flip-flops, looking like an old man who had just finished shopping at the morning market.
"The takeout has arrived."
Li Ang patted the top cover of the machine, grinned at Fury, whose face was ashen, and said, "Express delivery, remember to give a five-star review."
What really sent Fury's blood pressure soaring was Natasha, who had been missing for several days.
The once cold and deadly Black Widow was now obediently carrying a purple clay teapot from behind the door, with a bag of melon seeds in her other hand.
"Agent Natasha!"
A vein bulged on Fury's forehead. "Explain why you were out of contact for twenty-four hours during wartime?"
Natasha blinked, placed the teapot on the table next to Leon, and said in an extremely natural tone, "As the liaison between S.H.I.E.L.D. and the interdimensional business, I applied for paid annual leave to assist the shop manager in setting up the stall."
"What kind of liaison officer is this?!" Fury roared. "And who approved your annual leave?!"
"I approved it."
Li Ang swaggered into the main seat, casually took the teacup Natasha offered, blew on it to warm it, and said, "What, Director Fury, do you have a problem with my employee?"
"Should I have my security guard talk to you about labor laws?"
Upon hearing this, Thor and Banner stepped forward, and their imposing presence swept across the entire area.
Fury: "..."
He took a deep breath and told himself to stay calm.
This is the only lifeline; you can't hit him with a frying pan.
"Alright," Fury gritted his teeth, "Now that Mr. Leon is here, let's continue with our Avengers plan..."
"Wait a minute." Li Ang raised his hand to interrupt, "Everyone isn't here yet. That nouveau riche is usually late, but this time he's even slower than me?"
The voice just fell.
boom!
A loud bang came from the port deck of the Sky Carrier, followed by the distinctive roar of its propulsion system.
The white steel suit pierced through the clouds and landed on the elevator platform in an extremely flamboyant manner.
"Jarvis, turn off that damn entrance music, it's too loud."
Tony's flippant voice came through the speaker.
The symbiotic armor quickly contracted to his chest, encasing a glowing inverted triangular gem on his chest.
But instead of rushing in, he turned around and shouted to those behind him, "Hey! Hurry up! Don't embarrass me! Line up, one, two, one!"
Amidst the puzzled gazes of everyone in the hall, five short figures filed out from behind Iron Man.
"Jenny, Jelly!"
"Jenny!"
That was a group of... turtles?
No, to be precise, they were five upright-walking blue bald turtles.
Each of them wore specially made tactical sunglasses on its nose and was dressed in a blue and gold Iron Man suit.
On its shell were two miniature arc reactor-driven plasma cannons, and in its hands were several colorful flags.
The most outrageous one was the leader, who had an unlit cigar in his mouth and a more weathered and domineering look than Nick Fury.
"this……"
Captain America Rogers's mouth dropped open. This scene was far too shocking for a World War II veteran like him. "What is this? A genetically mutated new type of soldier?"
"No, Captain, that's Squirtle, a Water-type Pokémon."
Banner pushed up his glasses. "But... it seems Stark has them armed to the teeth."
Tony strode into the hall with an air of nonchalance, followed by the five Iron Man Turtles marching in perfect unison.
"Let me introduce you." Tony snapped his fingers. "New members of Stark Industries' security department, the Squirtle Special Forces."
"Squirtle!" The lead Squirtle flashed its sunglasses and gave a perfectly standard military salute in Li Ang's direction.
Li Ang smiled and waved: "Looks like you've taken good care of them, Tony."
"The best high-energy protein bars and deep-sea fish oil will guarantee you grow up healthy and plump."
Tony walked up to Leon, his eyes burning with anticipation as he stared at the gashapon machine. "Manager, do you have anything good this time?"
"It depends on luck," Li Ang shrugged.
Fury stood aside, watching the group chat as if no one else was around.
He looked down at the list of Avengers in his hand.
Tony Stark, Leon's friend, Iron Man.
Bruce Banner, a shop assistant for Leon, is the Hulk monk.
Natasha Romanov, a shop assistant at Leon's store.
Steve Rogers considers Leon his benefactor.
Jane Foster, a clerk at Leon's shop.
Thor, that big, goofy guy with the hammer, is still Leon's shop assistant!
Snapped!
Fury slammed the folder on the table.
"That's enough!"
The entire hall fell silent.
Except for the Squirtle that was still playing with its cigar, everyone else was looking at the one-eyed chief.
"This is the Avengers! The last line of defense for Earth!"
Fury pointed to the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo behind him, veins throbbing on his forehead. "It's not the fucking Leon supporters club!"
"We're facing an army from the divine realm! An alien invasion! Can't you guys have a little sense of urgency?!"
Fury's shout released all the pent-up resentment he had been holding back.
This team is impossible to lead!
Everyone's attention is on that unscrupulous businessman; his words as the bureau chief are less impactful than the fart of that guy who only knows how to eat sunflower seeds!
The deathly silence lasted for three seconds.
"actually……"
Peggy weakly raised her hand, "If we can get a powerful enough weapon out of that machine, an alien invasion wouldn't be such a big problem."
"My Squirtle team, combined with Jarvis's calculations, is three times more efficient at clearing out mobs than your agents."
Tony chimed in, "And they don't want wages, they just want good food."
"Hulk agrees." Banner nodded.
"Squirrel, Squirrel!" The Squirrel Turtles nodded in agreement.
Fury: "..."
He felt as if he had been pierced by arrow after arrow in his chest, until finally he was pierced through the heart by a thousand arrows.
What's wrong with this world?
Why is he the only normal person?
"Phew, I agree."
Fury let out a long breath and reached into his coat.
A moment later, a black card was slammed onto the table.
That was the highest-level financial card of S.H.I.E.L.D., containing the funds that S.H.I.E.L.D. had accumulated over the decades through various means.
"Instead of relying on those politicians who only know how to bicker in parliament, we should rely on luck."
Fury pointed at the brightly colored machine and said through gritted teeth, "Today, S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to hollow out your machine!"
Li Ang's cunning smile widened; it was the smile of a capitalist seeing a fat sheep waiting to be slaughtered.
"That's vision, Director." Li Ang snapped his fingers. "Natasha, serve the VIP client the best tea!"
"In addition, we've launched a premium gashapon machine, priced at $100 million per pull, guaranteed to yield gold!"
