Chapter 90

Nuclear Crisis? Tony: It's time to show our true strength!

Above the smoke-filled Manhattan sky, the particle trails left by the Zepelion rays lingered like a galaxy.

The black dwarf is dead, not even ashes remain.

But once the gears of war begin to turn, they will not easily stop.

"Hiss... Roar!!!"

The wormhole was not closed, and the Chitauri army, whose commanders had died, was like an enraged hive.

Countless Chitauri Gurongi armies went mad, pouring out in droves, thousands upon thousands flooding into New York.

"Is this still not over? Have these guys dumped all the garbage from the universe here?"

Hawkeye Barton kicked away a Chitauri infantryman who was trying to ambush him, snapping the bowstring in his hand. He then drew his tactical dagger and plunged it into the soldier's eye socket.

"If we don't close that hole, killing more won't make a difference!"

Natasha's voice boomed through the communication channel, accompanied by heavy breathing.

Having just taken the Mind Scepter, she piloted a stolen aircraft, weaving through a hail of bullets, heading straight for the top floor of Stark Tower.

On the building's terrace, Dr. Eric, who had just woken up, was clutching the back of his bleeding head, staring blankly at the hellish scene around him.

"Doctor! Turn it off!"

Natasha jumped off the aircraft, her psychic scepter gleaming with an eerie light.

"Pure energy shields cannot be penetrated..."

Dr. Eric's eyes gradually cleared, and he looked at the scepter as if it were a lifeline: "Unless it's countered with the same energy! The scepter! That's the key!"

Without a word, Natasha grabbed her scepter and charged at the damned device.

Just then.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Command Center.

"Sir! My permissions have been restricted!"

"The Security Council launched a nuclear missile, targeting the entire city!"

Agent Hill's face turned pale. Her fingers frantically typed on the keyboard, but all that popped up on the screen was a red "Access Denied" message.

Nick Fury paused, looking at the live feed Hill was sending to his phone.

On the screen, a fighter jet belonging to the World Security Council has opened its bomb bay.

The menacingly painted missile didn't lock onto the alien mothership; instead, it targeted the city center.

Nuclear bomb.

"Fuck! That's millions of people! Not just numbers!"

Fury grabbed the communicator, veins bulging on the back of his hand, and roared at the Security Council member who answered the call.

"Director Fury, that alien wormhole is not closed. Although your Avengers have performed amazingly, they are still an uncontrollable variable."

On the other end of the screen, the Security Council representative's voice was indifferent.

"The necessary sacrifices are worthwhile for the future of all mankind."

"Besides, eliminating those uncontrollable monsters along with them is also a way of... mitigating losses."

"I'll stop your damn nonsense!"

Fury slammed the communicator to the ground, sending fragments flying.

If he and Peggy die here at the same time, then S.H.I.E.L.D. will be in serious trouble!

But it was all too late.

The nuclear bomb had been ignited, and the exhaust plumes from its thrusters ripped through the sky, carrying the howl of death as it hurtled toward New York.

Fury's expression changed as he turned to look at the two giants present.

"Steve, Hulk, can you guys get the nuclear bomb out of here?"

……

"Sir, a nuclear strike has been detected."

Jarvis's voice rang in Tony's ears, like a death sentence.

"Estimated impact time: 45 seconds."

"Damn it!" Tony hovered in mid-air, his face beneath his mask extremely grim.

He glanced around.

The red light on Steve's chest was flashing wildly, indicating that the Giant of Light was about to run out of energy.

Hulk is strong, but he can't fly. You can't expect him to jump up and punch a nuclear bomb, can you?

Hulk will definitely be fine, but the others will probably be scattered all over the place!

As for Thor...

This guy is obviously unreliable. If we let him handle it, a nuclear bomb might explode in the middle of a crowd first!

Despair arrived even before the Chitauri army.

The soldiers and civilians on the ground watched the missile getting closer and closer, and the light in their eyes gradually faded.

Is this the end?

He killed the alien commander, but died at the hands of his own people.

"Don't move."

Tony's voice suddenly switched to the public channel, eerily calm.

"Tony? What do you want? You're the main force in this battle, your energy should be running low!"

Steve's voice echoed in his mind. The giant's body tried to move, but staggered due to energy depletion.

"I want to teach these bureaucrats a lesson."

On the top of a distant building, Li Ang poured the last few kernels of popcorn into his mouth and patted the caramel crumbs off his hands.

"Is it finally here? Tony's complete form?"
