Chapter 2 The Emperor Card

Inside the "Source Castle," Hobert regained his memories of the "Land of Chaos," and he was now certain that his amnesia was a form of self-protection.

Only by blocking contamination from the top of the sequence or from the Outer Gods within the Source Matter can those memories be restored.

Hobert then realized that he and the "Land of Chaos" should have a connection similar to that between Klein and the "Source Castle".

But without comparison, there is no harm. Look at other people's "Source Castle". It can make Klein, who just transmigrated, immediately start a double agent meeting... cough cough, immediately start a tarot meeting.

However, the "Disorderly Kingdom" that he was bound to turned out to be a trap!

Hobart gave a wry smile to himself before standing up and saying, "Great and mysterious Fool, thank you for your help."

If it weren't for "Cleric" intervening in time, Hobart felt he would probably have gone insane, or at least gone crazy for several hours if he had been lucky.

Hobart skipped the topic: "I don't know how I can thank you for your help?"

Hobart then asked, "Reverend Fool, how can I escape my fate of madness?"

Hobart then asked, "What kind of sacrifice must I make to escape my fate of madness?"

"I am a fool who prefers equivalent exchange; I don't need your sacrifice." Klein then smoothly continued, "You don't seem to have taken any potions. Did you gradually go mad after coming into contact with some extraordinary item?"

Above this gray fog, Klein could use his spiritual vision to distinguish whether a person had taken a potion. The aura of the young man in front of him was darker than that of a normal person, but he could be sure that this young man was not an extraordinary one.

There are only two reasons why an ordinary person might lose control: either they are born with half a Sequence 9, or they accidentally come into contact with an extraordinary event or item and become contaminated by the sealed object.

If someone is born with half a Sequence 9 extraordinary trait, then that young man would either have gone mad long ago, or he wouldn't be too affected by extraordinary traits. Just like the "monster" Admitso, whom he encountered at the Dragon Bar when he went to the black market with Old Neil a few days ago, that was an example of someone with too high a spirituality who couldn't control the half Sequence 9 extraordinary trait within him.

There is only one answer: the other party must have come into contact with a sealed object or an extraordinary item, which is why they are experiencing these symptoms.

“That’s exactly what I’m wondering about,” Hobart replied. “I haven’t taken any potions, nor have I come into contact with… or at least I don’t think I’ve come into contact with any extraordinary items.”

As for the crazy phenomenon that only started after the transmigration, of course, it cannot be revealed to Klein yet.

The Fool paused for a few seconds: "There are two people similar to you who I pulled into this place for other reasons."

"They wanted me to hold regular gatherings for recipe trading, material buying and selling, information exchange, and mission commissions, and I agreed to it."

"You are someone who understands occult knowledge. You can use your knowledge to make an equivalent exchange with me or others. Your questions will be answered here, and your problems will be solved."

Hobart said, "It's my honor."

The Fool said, "Every Monday at three o'clock in the afternoon, eliminate all distractions."

He said, "They decided to use the names of the tarot cards as their code names, and you can choose one for yourself too."

A set of tarot cards appeared before Hobart, and his feelings were immediately complicated. First of all, he did not expect to join the Tarot Club in this way, and to enter the extraordinary world in this way.

And all of this was inevitable, because he was bound to the "Land of Chaos" from the very beginning of his arrival in this world. Why did the "Land of Chaos" appear in the Northern Continent? Has the Celestial Venerable's seal weakened to this extent?

"Let fate decide my codename." Hobert shuffled the cards casually and drew one: "The Emperor!"

The symbol on the chair behind Hobart was awakened; it was an abstract throne depicting a symbol of chaos and distortion.

"The Fool" declared: "Your code name is 'Emperor.' Be mindful of the meeting time and go back."

After returning Hobart to the red star, Klein did not leave immediately, but instead performed divination to confirm that the "Emperor" was not in danger.

It is unusual that the "Emperor" is not an extraordinary being, yet he knows a great deal about extraordinary beings.

"Let's observe and see," Klein thought. "Anyway, no one can harm me above this fog."

Then he left the gray fog. "Mr. Fool" had to go to work tomorrow, so he needed to catch up on some sleep.

On the other side, after Hobert returned to his body, he found himself lying on the ground in a contorted position.

His pajamas were soaked with sweat, and his hair was damp with sweat; it looked as if he had taken a bath in sweat.

Hobart was once again relieved that he knew of the existence of the "Fool".

The sky outside was already beginning to lighten, and Hobert was wide awake. Today was Monday, and he would be attending his first Tarot session that afternoon.
