Chapter 57
: The Story is Rewritten Again
Chapter 57: The Story is Rewritten Again
Klein lied, saying that he had recently noticed Old Neil's mental instability. He said that this afternoon he suddenly recalled the vision he had experienced when he first activated his psychic abilities, so he did a divination and confirmed that Old Neil's condition was indeed a bit problematic, but it didn't seem to be too serious.
Dunn paused for a second or two before saying, "Old Neil is on duty at the armory. I'll pull him into a dream in a bit and check on his condition."
"If it's not too urgent, send a telegram immediately and ask the church's experts to help resolve the issue."
"If the situation becomes too urgent, I will restrain Old Neil and you will perform ritual magic to pray to the goddess for power to solve the problem."
Klein was a little nervous: "Captain, I've never performed such complicated ritual magic before."
"Just like a ritual of psychic communication or supplication for power, all you need to do is change the corresponding incantation," Dunn smiled. "Now that you're a member of the Night Watch team, your teammates need your power to get out of their predicament."
Klein gave a wry smile: Captain, what you're saying puts even more pressure on me!
However, the captain's warm smile gave Klein great encouragement: "I will do my best to complete the ceremony."
Dunn nodded: "Go and get ready."
Klein, feeling a little uneasy, had just reached the door when the captain said, "Oh right, I forgot something. Performing this kind of ritual requires burning materials rich in spiritual energy. Ordinary Deep Sleep Flower and Night Grass are not enough. Go write an application form and go behind the Chanis Gate to collect the powder of Summer Leaf Grass and Sleepless Flower."
"Okay." Klein immediately relaxed.
Dunn added, "Wait a minute, there's something else. Call Leonard from the lounge to join us on this mission."
Klein nodded. "Captain, I'll also have Rosanne and Mrs. Orianna leave work early, and have Frye in the break room close early and stand guard in the lobby, so that no one will be unattended when the police knock. Right, Captain?"
Dunn paused for a second or two before saying, "Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to say."
After leaving the office, Klein first dismissed the clerical staff, then notified Leonard and Frye, before writing the application form. After obtaining Dunn's signature, he asked Luo Yao, who was on duty at the Chanis Gate that day, to take the materials.
Having done all this, Klein nervously waited in the underground passage, clutching the spiritual materials in his hand.
After waiting for seven or eight minutes, the captain and Leonard finally came down together.
The three men silently entered the armory. Dunn gave two of his men a wink and opened the armory door.
Old Neil, inside the door, was resting his chin on his hands, seemingly dozing. Hearing someone open the door, he suddenly woke up: "What operation is going on today? Come all in, to collect your weapons?"
As he spoke, old Neil yawned, his eyelids growing heavy. He immediately realized something was wrong: "Dunne, you, you..."
Before he could finish speaking, old Neil leaned back in his chair and fell asleep.
When I looked at Dunn again, he was already leaning against the door, his eyes closed and his head bowed.
Leonard calmly said to Klein, "I think you'd better start planning the ceremony, just in case."
"Okay." Klein finally understood why the captain had called Leonard over; it was to avoid missing the best opportunity for the ceremony due to his lack of experience.
The captain is as reliable as ever!
With Leonard's help, Klein carried a table in front of Old Neil and began drawing symbols and lighting candles.
The symbol he drew was, of course, the emblem of the goddess of night. Although the "Creator" had Roselle's endorsement, Klein would not ask for power from a stranger unless absolutely necessary.
Klein began lighting the candles, and just as he was lighting the second one, the captain suddenly spoke up: "Quickly prepare for the ceremony, Old Neil's condition is very serious."
Klein was slightly taken aback. The scene before him shattered like a broken mirror. He was lighting the first candle, and hadn't even started lighting the second one yet.
He immediately realized that he had been pulled into a dream by the captain.
Klein quickly lit the remaining candles; he hadn't expected Old Neil to be so out of control.
Just then, old Neil, who was fast asleep, suddenly raised his head. His eyes were still closed, but a emotionless, numb eye slowly opened on his forehead.
Klein shuddered at the sight of that eye and quickly looked away, unable to meet its gaze.
Despite Dunn's control, Old Neil still stiffly got up like a sleepwalker, his target being the makeshift altar on the table. Clearly, the part of Old Neil that was out of control was aware of the danger and wanted to destroy the altar.
Leonard sang, "In the past, if I remember correctly, my life was a feast."
"There, all hearts are open, and all the fine wines overflow."
Klein suddenly felt weak all over and had no desire to continue. He shook his head to drive away the peace and languor in his heart and quickly burned the powder of summer leaves and sleepless flowers.
With Leonard's assist, Dunn regained the initiative, and Neil gradually sat back down in his chair, his eyes slowly closing.
But then, an emotionless eye appeared on Old Neil's cheek and slowly opened.
Before the eye could fully open, Klein quickly and solemnly recited the incantation in Hermes: "I pray for the power of the night;
I pray for the power of crimson;
I pray for the favor of the goddess of night;
"I pray that you will eliminate the uncontrollable factors of the Night Watch members within the altar, and restore his extraordinary power to stability."
"..."
Old Neil's eyes finally opened, and he looked at everything in front of him indifferently, as if the actions of the three Night Watch members had nothing to do with him.
After the incantation was finished, Klein, inside the "Wall of Spirituality," felt a powerful, terrifying, and hidden force descend upon him.
woohoo~
An unusually strong wind suddenly arose around the altar, but strangely, an unprecedented sense of tranquility filled the entire armory.
Old Neil's eyes, which had been devoid of emotion, suddenly revealed fear. It was forced out of Old Neil's body by a powerful, invisible force. Before it could hide in a dark corner, the surging force struck again, trapping and crushing it.
Klein and Leonard both seemed to hear a shriek filled with resentment.
The violent wind subsided, and the armory returned to calm.
"Cough cough cough." Old Neil woke up: "Are you trying to tear this old body apart?"
Klein used his spiritual vision to look at Old Neil again. Old Neil looked very weak, but the eye that had been hiding behind him was gone.
He breathed a sigh of relief, praised the goddess, and silently thanked the emperor in his heart.
After finishing all this, Klein looked at the captain. He remembered that there was something important he needed to remind the captain, but at this moment his head was throbbing. The ritual had consumed too much of his spiritual energy, and he needed to rest.
……
In the suburbs of Tingen, in a house with a dark red chimney and a green lawn.
A pale hand, holding a quill pen, is writing in an ordinary notebook:
"Klein realized that Old Neil was on the verge of losing control, and the story was rewritten once again."
