Chapter 61
Extraordinary Families
Chapter 61 Extraordinary Families
Hobart's proposed method left Hugh and Fors completely bewildered; they lacked the relevant expertise and didn't quite understand the feasibility of his approach.
Hobart continued, "As far as I know, this method is very painful and can easily get out of control, so don't do it unless absolutely necessary or you are very sure."
He mentioned this method first to highlight his expertise; frankly, it was a way to deceive people. He then added, "The second method is to wait and see how lucky your friends are!"
"Luck?" Fors asked. "What do you mean?"
Hobart smiled and said, "Once you become an extraordinary being, your destiny will change dramatically, and all your questions will be answered according to fate's plan."
"Don't think of me as a charlatan; the field of mysticism is inherently full of obscure and difficult-to-understand things."
Fors frowned; she was not satisfied with the answer.
Hugh bluntly asked, "Could you be a little more specific?"
"That curse is a cry for help!" Hobart put it more clearly: "As far as I know, a mysterious entity has recently become interested in this cry for help."
"This is your friend's chance. Don't try to control fate; just let things take their course."
The plot developing in the direction of the original work is most advantageous for Hobart, as it allows his God's-eye view to continue indefinitely.
Hobart's words indeed stunned Hugh and Fors, who remained silent, pondering the meaning of his words.
After a dozen seconds, Fors asked, "So, the best thing to do now is to do nothing?"
Hobart smiled and said, "That's right. If you observe everything around you carefully, you will always find some revelations about fate."
For example, Audrey's name in the Viscount Grynt collection, and, uh, Audrey's name in the Viscount Grynt collection.
Hobart added, "Perhaps when things are at their most uncontrollable is when fate takes a turn."
Hugh scratched his head: "Hobert, is fate really that magical?"
Hobart shrugged. "That's just how wondrous the fate of the extraordinary is. Well, I hope you don't take fate too seriously, because for us 'low-sequence' extraordinarys, we can only accept what fate has in store."
"The more you care, the greater the fluctuations in fate will be, and it will only add to your troubles."
It was only then that Hugh and Fors belatedly realized that Hobart seemed to be talking about some kind of occult knowledge that they had never heard of or thought of before, but which sounded very advanced.
However, Hobart seems to have only described a part of this occult knowledge; they did not "see" the whole picture.
Hobart asked, "Are you two satisfied with my answer?"
"Satisfied." Fors immediately said, "This, this has given our friend a great insight. I think at least she understands the source of the curse and will no longer be so lost and confused."
Hobert nodded: "Then let me tell you about the next steps. Last week, while handling a case, I discovered a villager who looked like an extraordinary person."
"I'm curious about where his potion recipe came from, so I want to investigate."
Seeing the puzzled looks on Hugh and Fors's faces, Hobart smiled and explained, "I'll give you two a piece of knowledge for free."
"The extraordinary characteristics within the three of us can be traced back to the Fourth Age. Following the historical thread, the potion formulas that are similar to those of Hugh are basically in the hands of the Rune and Fennepot royal families."
"The potion recipes that follow the same path as Miss Fors are basically in the hands of the Gnostic and the Abraham family, or extraordinary individuals who are connected to these two."
"Well, I think that as early as the fourth century, after Abraham's ancestors disappeared, Abraham's family must have been attacked by other forces without the protection of a strong person, and suffered considerable losses."
"The extraordinary characteristics of the 'apprentices' and the potion recipes in the Gnostic Order, which was formed at the beginning of the Fifth Age, must have come from the spoils of their attack on the Abraham family."
"The extraordinary characteristics that follow the same path as mine should theoretically be in the hands of three or four extraordinary families, but since the war of the Four Emperors, the lineage has not been so clear."
"Do you understand what I'm saying?"
Hugh nodded repeatedly, but judging from her expression, she clearly didn't understand.
Fors considered for a moment before saying, "In other words, if we can figure out which faction most of the extraordinary individuals along the same path belong to, we can use that as a clue to obtain the subsequent potion formulas!"
Her eyes lit up: "Mr. Hobart, this information you've provided is very important to us! Is it really free?"
She had been searching for the "Master of Tricks" potion recipe at the Extraordinary Gathering for a long time, and she was almost ready to give up. However, Hobart's words today gave her a new direction.
Hobart smiled and said, "Of course it's free. Did you think I was just joking when I said I hoped we could support each other when I formed the Justice League?"
Wake up, girl! Free things are often the most expensive. Now that you've found a clue to the potion recipe, don't you want to know about the Grim Reaper? Don't you want to take action? Can you get the recipe by working with Hugh yourself?
If I can't get it, should I ask someone for help?
Haha, Hobert only realized today that he really is a marketing genius.
Only then did Xiu belatedly exclaim "Oh," realizing that she truly understood this time.
Hobart added, "The villager I was talking about who looks like an Extraordinary seems to be an Extraordinary of the same order as me, so I'm curious about the origin of his potion recipe."
Hugh asked, "When do we begin?"
Hobart took out his pocket watch and looked at it: "It's not even 9:30 yet. Let's each get ready, and meet at Backlund Bridge at 1 p.m., how about that?"
"OK."
After seeing Hugh and Fors off, Hobart went to his rented room and, in a bestowal manner, took the "Spirit Necklace" from the "Land of Chaos".
This time, the initiative was in Hobart's hands. Unlike the last investigation, where clues were fleeting and there was no time to prepare, they could only take immediate action.
Since there is time to prepare, you should bring your strongest equipment to avoid having to communicate with spirits later.
After putting on the necklace, Hobert opened his spiritual vision again, and the scene before him was completely different. The whole world had turned gray, and only the life forms on the street outside had color.
He was somewhat envious of those with high spiritual insight who could see a person's health and current mood simply by using their spiritual vision.
With his psychic vision shut down, Hobert cautiously decided to leave early to avoid missing the appointed time. He returned to his law firm for lunch before taking a carriage to Backlund Bridge.
As expected, Fors also broke free from the armchair and accompanied her friend on this mission.
So the three young men took a horse-drawn carriage to the outskirts of Backlund.
