Chapter 25
The 2th Tarot Meeting
Chapter 25 The Second Tarot Meeting
When Hobart inquired about Mr. Hyman's address, Mr. Robin replied, "We only know the man's name, but we know nothing else about him."
Somewhat exasperated, Hobart had no choice but to investigate himself. He kept the share authorization letter, and just as he saw Mr. Robin off, Barton called out to him, "Are you going to help?"
"Yes," Hobart said, "I'll at least investigate."
Barton shook his head: "We are lawyers, not police officers or detectives. We need our clients to provide sufficient evidence. Our role is simply to help our clients with their cases, not to find evidence."
Hobart smiled helplessly and said, "I know you're right, but I still want to help him. Even if I find out after the investigation that I'm not capable of helping him, my conscience will feel better."
Barton shrugged: "Alright then, but the firm won't reimburse your expenses on this case. Of course, if there are any profits, you don't need to hand them over to the firm; just consider it a private commission you received."
Hobert nodded. "Okay."
Hobart spent the entire morning processing his gun license. After returning from the government office, he organized documents and reviewed files. He planned to go out in the afternoon under the guise of visiting a client, then find a hotel room and attend a tarot session.
Fortunately, he didn't go out. Around noon, he received a letter from the Mercenary Club saying that someone who sells common but extraordinary materials like Dragon Blood Grass had arranged to meet him at the club at 4 p.m.
Another person wanted to sell Emperor Roselle's notes and arranged to make the transaction with him around 4 PM.
Looks like I won't have time to visit the client on Monday.
Around 2 p.m., Hobart left the firm, walked across two streets, and then found a hotel and paid 1 soule to book a room by the hour.
At three o'clock sharp, Hobart, who was prepared, was pulled onto the gray fog.
After the members of the gathering greeted each other, Hobart sincerely thanked them, saying, "Thank you for the ideas Mr. Fool provided at the last gathering. After my confirmation, my family does indeed have a crazy curse, and I am now investigating the source of the curse."
"If anyone hears of a similar curse, please remember to tell me. I will reward you with extraordinary knowledge."
The Hanged Man answered, but "Justice" seemed a little uneasy: "Respected Mr. Fool, Mr. Hanged Man who always helps me, and Mr. Emperor who is very knowledgeable, I have a question I would like to ask you:
"What can a pet with extraordinary abilities do to help its owner?"
As soon as she finished speaking, she noticed that Mr. Fool, the Hanged Man, and the Emperor had all fallen silent.
Audrey: Hey, hey, hey, talk to me! Don't look at me like that! Seriously, I'm asking for my friend!
Hobart broke the silence with a soft chuckle: "If that pet has the extraordinary ability to be an 'audience,' able to observe and eavesdrop on certain occasions in your place, people will be wary of their fellow human beings, but are unlikely to suspect the pet of eavesdropping."
Audrey: That makes sense! Many times when Dad discusses important matters with other people, he avoids me, but they don't chase Susie away.
Wait a minute, Your Majesty, why did you use "audience" as an example?
She quickly changed the subject to ease her embarrassment: "Mr. Fool, I've found another page of Emperor Roselle's diary."
After about four or five minutes, Mr. Fool finished reading the diary: "You can talk now."
Audrey breathed a sigh of relief: "I'd like to know if there's a potion called 'Arbitrator,' and what kind of extraordinary being can pass directly through the wooden door?"
"Yes," Hobart said casually. "Extraordinary individuals using the 'Arbitrator' pathway are quite common in the armies of the Kingdom of Rune and the Kingdom of Fennepot, because the royal families of these two kingdoms, the Augustus family and the Castile family, became extraordinary families using the 'Arbitrator' pathway because of their loyalty to the Solomon Empire and the Trensost Empire."
"In addition, due to war and other reasons, the kings of these two kingdoms gave some soldiers the magic potion of the 'Arbitrator' pathway as a reward, thus creating some extraordinary families of 'Arbitrator' who were not royalty."
"Basically speaking, 'arbitrators' are widely present in the nobility, military, and political circles of both kingdoms. The Fusak Empire should also have some extraordinary qualities of 'arbitrators,' after all, it is an old rival of the Kingdom of Rune."
Audrey was somewhat surprised, not expecting that the royal family was a family of extraordinary individuals. But thinking about it, it made sense. In a world where extraordinary individuals existed, the fact that the Augustus family could exist for a thousand years and remain standing said a lot.
Hobart continued, "As for the extraordinary ones who can pass through the wooden door, those are extraordinary ones of the 'Apprentice' path, and the Gnostic has many extraordinary ones of this path. In addition, the Abraham family also possesses a relatively complete potion recipe for this path."
"However, the Abraham family, like my family, is also deeply affected by the curse, and it is said that there are no longer any strong individuals who have mastered this path."
Alger and Klein were both slightly surprised. They both knew about the "Apprentice" path for extraordinary individuals and the Gnostic Order, but neither of them had ever heard of the Abraham family. This made them marvel once again at the Emperor's vast knowledge.
Then they became very curious about the history and current situation of the Abraham family.
"Your Majesty," Audrey asked, "why haven't I heard of the Abraham family?"
Klein thought to himself: Miss Justice, your question is absolutely brilliant!
Alger also strained his ears, earnestly "borrowing" this extraordinary world's hidden knowledge for free.
Hobart smiled and said, "That's because this family began to decline during the Fourth Epoch. However, now, apart from the Gnostic Beyonders, almost all the Beyonders on the 'Apprentice' path have some connection with this family."
Audrey nodded. "Your Majesty, your explanation is very detailed. In what form should I pay you?"
Hobart had planned ahead; he intended to have Audrey investigate the impoverished nobles of Backlund, and this investigation would naturally include Raft Pound.
But as the words were about to come out, Hobert suddenly felt that the scene was very familiar. He racked his brains and finally remembered.
At the tarot meeting a few months later, "Mr. World" will commission Audrey to conduct the same survey!
At the same time, all the memories of Raft also surfaced in Hobart's mind.
The Pound family are descendants of the Blood Emperor Tudor. After changing their surname and name, they began to serve the royal family of Loen. However, their true purpose was to settle in Backlund and try to excavate the relics left by the Tudor Empire.
As a result, many of the family's strongest members were killed by the evil spirits in the ruins, and the Pound family never recovered.
