Chapter 93 can also be a poison master
Upton had no objection to Hobart's plan for disposing of the spoils; his survival was the greatest gain of the battle.
Of course, Upton had other needs as well. He said to Hobart, "I don't need any spoils of war. I will also give you the reward I promised before, but I need the body of a Tamara family member who has only recently died."
Hobart realized this might be "material" used to evade the Tamara family's divination, and he asked curiously, "Can't you use your mother's body?"
Upton shook his head: "My father's notes say it must be the spirit of a family member outside of ours."
Hobart nodded: "After you've rented the house, wait for me at Harvest Church."
The next morning, Hobart first wrote a letter to Hugh, telling her that he had agreed to help Upton and that the two ladies should prepare for battle. He didn't specify what he would do to help Upton, but Hugh believed she would understand Hobart's meaning when she read the letter.
After staying in the office until after nine o'clock, Hobart went out again to "visit a client".
He went to Garr's Herbal Shop and spent £330 on a complete adult Pegasus horn and 5 grams of crystallized Crown Jellyfish venom.
Then Hobart spent another 30 pounds to buy a lot of herbs used in mysticism. The auxiliary materials for "pharmacists" were mixed in with these herbs. Hobart basically bought a lot more than he needed. He bought a small bottle of colchicine essence with just a few drops of it, and he bought two sprigs of ground thorn flower with just a few petals of it.
All the materials cost a total of £360. Hobart quoted 420 to Grynt, considering he had made two trips and taken some risks.
Viscount Grelint readily paid the money and then asked Hobert to help him concoct the potion.
Hobert had prepared all the necessary materials and was about to start mixing when he suddenly felt as if a pair of eyes were watching him and Grelint.
Hobert quickly activated his spiritual vision, but found no trace of the undead creatures or other magical beings hiding in the shadows.
"Aren't you ready yet?" Grynt urged.
Hobert shook his head, keeping an eye on his surroundings as he prepared the potion.
The feeling of being watched persisted until Hobert prepared the potion, and Grelint eagerly drank it, at which point the secret gaze disappeared.
Hobert gave Viscount Grelint a deep look, who seemed oblivious and took a deep breath with a look of enjoyment: "My mind is flooded with knowledge of herbs and prescriptions."
Hobert didn't ask any questions, but smiled and said, "That's the magic of potions."
Viscount Grelint asked, "Do you have any good advice regarding the 'Pharmacist'?"
"In my opinion, a 'pharmacist' can also be a 'poisoner'," Hobert said with a smile. "After all, the main ingredient contains crystals of crown jellyfish venom. In addition to giving you a certain ability to resist toxins and poisons, theoretically you should also have some knowledge of poisons."
Viscount Grelint closed his eyes, as if he were recalling something, and after a long while he opened them and said, "You're right, I can indeed concoct many kinds of poisons."
"Thanks to your reminder, otherwise I might not have realized this for a long time."
He took out his pocket watch and looked at it, then suddenly whispered to Hobart, "I'd like to invite you to dinner tonight. Please do come."
Hobert was taken aback. It was just a meal together, did they have to whisper like that?
However, recalling the gaze he had just received, Hobert said nothing and slowly nodded.
After leaving Viscount Grynt’s house, Hobart had lunch and then went to the Harvest Church in the southern part of the bridge.
Before entering the church, he put on the mask again and stepped through the church doors, where he saw Upton, who was fidgeting in his seat.
Bishop Utravsky, who was sitting in the front row and flipping through the classics, glanced at Hobert, then continued to read the Bible of Life in front of him.
Upton saw Hobart's mask and let out a long sigh of relief: "You've finally come."
He whispered, "The bishop of this church is terrifying."
Hobart's lips twitched. "Aren't you afraid of the 'Giant Bishop's' fists, as big as a casserole dish?" he asked. "Have you rented a place?"
"It's rented, number 103 on the street next door."
"Then go back. If you have any premonition of danger, come to the church and let me know immediately."
Upton nodded, took a deep breath, and got up to leave.
Hobert removed his mask, and then Bishop Utravsky said, "This is a church, not a place for you to plot your schemes."
Hobert smiled and said, "Isn't the Church of the Mother Goddess supposed to never refuse anyone?"
This surprised Bishop Utravsky slightly.
Hobert rose and sat down next to Bishop Utravsky: "Father, I've heard that your church has extraordinary individuals skilled in cultivating crops?"
"Yes, they can double crop yields and know various grafting and cultivation techniques."
Hobart's mind suddenly conjured up images of fish and mushrooms, but he shook his head to banish them. "Father, have you been to the East End of Backlund?"
"No, but I've heard of it."
"Father, why are so many people starving?"
Bishop Utravsky gave Hobert a deep look: "This is precisely my motivation to spread the glory of the Mother Goddess. When the glory of the Mother Goddess shines on this land, no one will go hungry anymore."
“Father, you’re wrong. Even if there’s enough food to feed everyone, some people will still go hungry. Do you believe that?” Hobart looked at the Life Emblem before him. “Humans have given meaning to life, yet they themselves have no meaning in their lives.”
He paused for a moment and then said, "In my opinion, everyone should have the right to have enough to eat."
Utravsky slowly began to speak: "In the eyes of the Mother Goddess, every life has meaning."
"That's not enough." Hobart suddenly shook his head. "Let's not discuss this heavy topic anymore. May I take a look at your church's 'Life Bible'?"
"sure."
So Hobert spent the entire afternoon reading the Bible of the Earth Mother Church. He read it slowly and carefully, and the only sound in the church was the turning of the pages, solemn and holy.
As night fell, having received no warning from Upton, Hobart took a carriage to Queen's Road.
Viscount Grelint was already waiting in the restaurant. After exchanging a few pleasantries, the two began to serve the food.
The Viscount's chef was a true master chef, making dishes that were both beautiful and delicious. However, there was just too little of each dish, and after eating more than a dozen dishes, we were barely full.
During the conversation, Hobart learned that the Viscount's family ate like this every day, and he smiled and commented, "It doesn't feel like home at all."
The whole process felt like dining at a high-end restaurant.
Grelint smiled wryly. "There's nothing I can do. I've been told since I was a child that this is how a viscount should eat. If I simplify the meal, rumors will start circulating tomorrow that Viscount Grelint is going bankrupt."
