Chapter 15
Kneel down and call me Dad
Chapter 15 Kneel down and call me Dad
The prayer is over.
Christa shouted to attract everyone's attention: "People of God, it is time to offer sacrifices to God again."
Suddenly, the entire room fell silent.
Sacrifice means death.
Although they are followers of evil gods and demons, it doesn't mean they are not afraid of death.
Every time a sacrificial ceremony was held, there was a fear of becoming an unfortunate offering.
"Do not be afraid, everyone. This time, we have two new sacrifices to offer to the gods. We do not need to choose our own victims."
Upon hearing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Many eyes turned to Bruce and Oliver, who were tied up, with barely concealed schadenfreude in their eyes.
It doesn't matter who dies, as long as it's not me.
"Bruce, what should we do?"
"Oliver, let fate decide."
They were tied up in layers, their limbs numb from lack of blood circulation, leaving them with no chance of breaking free and escaping.
Their only hope was that Allen would descend from the sky and save their lives.
Now it seems that this is only in the realm of fantasy.
At this moment, Krista walked over gracefully, casually pointing with the Blade of Redemption in her hand, and asked, "I'll give you one chance. Whoever is the first to sacrifice themselves will live for five more years."
Both bowed their heads in silence.
No one can decide the life or death of another; at least, their moral standards do not allow it.
But self-sacrifice and dedication require immense courage.
"Kill me first."
After a long silence, Bruce slowly raised his head and said, "Oliver, if possible, please take my remains back to Wayne Manor and bury them next to my parents."
"Why should you be the hero?"
Oliver roared, "Kill me first! I was supposed to die at sea with my father anyway, so let me go back to my original fate."
"No, listen to me, as long as you're alive, there's hope. You still have family waiting for you, but I'm just an orphan."
"Bullshit, just because you're an orphan doesn't mean you can be great or a hero."
……
The two argued heatedly, their faces flushed, and surprisingly, they were willing to die for each other.
This scene silenced the congregation, and no one dared to interrupt. They couldn't help but admire the noble character of the congregation, realizing that they themselves would only be thinking of surviving.
"Shut up."
Christa said impatiently, "Why fight if you're going to fight to the death anyway? I'll make the choice for you."
"You die first."
She resolutely walked up to Bruce, whose face had turned ashen.
"I hope you'll give me a quick death," Bruce pleaded calmly.
"I'm sorry, but the sacrificial ritual requires you to die a painful death."
The reason why believers are so afraid of sacrifice is that the entire process is worse than death.
If one could just be given a quick and painless death, perhaps one wouldn't be so afraid of it.
Several cult members guarded Bruce and moved him to the shards, where Christa had to subject him to inhuman torture.
"You should feel honored to be embraced by God."
Krista raised the Blade of Redemption high, her expression solemn and dignified, as if she were about to hold a grand ceremony.
"My only honor is being reunited with my family."
Bruce spoke with disdain, his expression one of resignation, as if he were ready to die a martyr.
There was no point in wasting time, so Krista slowly brought the Blade of Redemption closer to Bruce's face.
The first step is to peel it.
The offerings were covered in blood, as if they had undergone a baptism of blood and fire.
Just as the blade was about to touch her cheek, Krista frowned deeply.
Bruce opened his eyes in confusion, only to see the other person struggling to press down on the blade, but failing to make contact with his skin.
"What's going on? Is the god not satisfied with the offerings?"
Krista was utterly bewildered, as if an invisible wall of air was blocking the blade of redemption from falling.
The next second, a tremendous force suddenly struck from the waist.
Before she could even react, she was involuntarily sent flying sideways.
At the same moment, Bruce's eyes widened.
Simply because Allen appeared out of nowhere without any warning.
"Hey hey, didn't expect me to be invisible?"
How could a normal person possibly imagine that you could become invisible?
Even abnormal people seem unable to think of it.
"Kill him and reclaim the Blade of Redemption."
Upon regaining her senses, Christa angrily ordered her followers, only to discover to her horror that the Blade of Redemption was already in the enemy's hands.
Allen turned around and snatched another fragment, tapping it with the Blade of Redemption to produce a crisp sound, and said playfully, "I think squares are more fun; I hate circles the most."
"Don't be afraid, the fragments won't be damaged again. Let's go together and reclaim the sacred relic and the artifact," Krista urged anxiously.
However, Allen took out another fragment, and the two were combined into one, restoring the complete Floros emblem.
Silence fell instantly, and no one dared to make a move.
Now, their Achilles' heel is in someone else's hands.
Allen threatened, "Release the Green Arrow, or I'll cut the badge into eight pieces."
"If you destroy the badge, Alessa won't let you off the hook either," Krista warned coldly.
"She sent me."
"..."
Well, so they were accomplices.
Krista was speechless for a moment, then suddenly had an idea and suggested, "Let's exchange him for the badge."
Allen glanced at the gold badge, then at Oliver, and said resolutely, "Kill him. I won't hand over the gold that's in my hands."
Before Krista could panic, Oliver, whose hope had been rekindled, couldn't sit still any longer and shouted, "Allen, I'm the heir to the Quinn Corporation. If you can save me, I'll transfer a hundred million dollars to your account later."
"What kind of talk is that? Do you think I'm the kind of person who would abandon my friends for money?"
Allen said sternly, "Release them immediately, or we'll have the female lead make her entrance."
The force of the Blade of Redemption striking the golden badge intensified, as if each strike was hitting the hearts of everyone present.
Under invisible pressure, Krista finally nodded in agreement.
Oliver, now free, is the first to untie Bruce.
"What else do you want?"
It's unpleasant to have someone hold a handle against you, so Krista had no choice but to compromise.
Allen's sly smile foreshadowed another irrational act.
"Kneel down and call me Dad."
Upon hearing this, Bruce and Oliver turned around and looked at him, wondering if they were really going to take things too far.
Judging from her appearance, she's old enough to be your grandmother; in reality, she's probably a veteran mature woman at the level of your great-great-great-grandmother.
The congregation couldn't help but marvel at Allen's unique taste.
Krista gritted her teeth in anger: "I'd rather die than let you humiliate me."
If you don't want to be dignified, someone will make you dignified.
The followers didn't care about all that; it wasn't like they were recognizing a father, so they all tried to persuade him.
"Master, just shout it out, it's no big deal."
"Your lord, your humiliation was exchanged for everyone's lives; it is great and holy."
"Master, don't force me to kneel down and beg you. What's wrong with calling out to you?"
"Yes, yes, you called out, so at worst everyone will call you 'Mom'."
"Master, you may be willing to die, but we are not."
……
The repeated attempts at moral blackmail fueled Christa's anger and indignation, which burned like flames in her eyes.
In particular, the guards, armed with stun guns, were approaching step by step while verbally offering words of persuasion.
Suddenly, she felt a sense of humiliation, as if everyone had abandoned her.
