Chapter 82
The Base Beneath Arkham
Chapter 82 The Base Beneath Arkham
Knock knock knock...
It's in the second compartment of the third row of the storage room.
Allen was looking forward to some unexpected changes.
Snapped!
A hidden compartment pops up.
There was another letter inside.
"So romantic, playing with mystery, I love it."
Allen opened the envelope, which read, "Please look for the letter under the third washing machine in the laundry room."
"Who is it?"
Suddenly, Allen realized that someone was playing a trick on him. His intelligent eyes darted left and right, as if searching for suspicious people, but he was all alone in the storage room.
"I must find out who you are."
Allen said solemnly, "The woman will moan and groan on the spot, and the man will have his penis flicked a hundred times."
I left the storage room and headed straight for the laundry room.
Edward and Cobblestone, hiding around the corner, silently watched his retreating figure.
"Who's so bored as to play a trick on a mentally ill person?"
Edward's mind raced. He first filtered through the criminals at Arkham Asylum and thought it unlikely. How could a bunch of idiots who only knew how to use violence come up with a series of schemes?
"I think middle-aged men wearing tight clothes at night are pretty boring," Copport said casually.
"I agree with that. I guess Batman thinks he's cool and considers himself the embodiment of justice, but he's actually a psychologically traumatized violent maniac," Edward nodded in agreement.
In fact, Bruce does have psychological problems; the shadow of his parents' death has always lingered.
The two men stealthily followed Allen to the laundry room.
Peeking out from the doorway, I saw Allen lift the incredibly heavy washing machine with one hand and take out the third letter.
"Open each washing machine in 9517 in turn, and you will be surprised."
Allen hesitated, then said, "Maybe we should forget about it."
Hands unconsciously rise up, slightly to the left and right.
"Darling, don't continue. It might be a trap. Don't make me worry."
"Allen, you're a coward, a mentally ill coward. Don't you know what that means? How can you sleep at night?"
Allen glanced at his right hand, then glared at his left, and retorted, "I'm not a coward. Whoever doesn't dare is a coward."
Without hesitation, I started the washing machines one by one.
As the washing machine began filling with water and entered the drum shaking program, something unexpected finally happened.
puff…
A sound like a leaking valve.
The wall sank inward, creating a passageway.
Looking down into the dark passageway, Allen peered furtively inside and muttered, "It's so dark, why don't they turn on the lights?"
Reach out and touch the wall at the entrance.
With a click, the passageway became bright and clear, and I stepped inside without hesitation.
Fear doesn't exist.
The more terrifying it is, the more exciting it is.
"He went inside, should we follow?"
"Of course we have to find out, otherwise why would we come along?"
Edward and Cobblestone exchanged a glance, deciding to see what the secret was.
After all, curiosity is human nature.
Furthermore, with Allen playing as the forward, they would flee if they saw the situation was not good.
"Hey!"
"Oh…"
"ah…"
Just as they were about to step inside, Allen burst out of the entrance, startling them so much that their hearts pounded.
"Gotcha," Allen said smugly. "After all that trouble, let me expose you."
Forehead…
Edward realized that Allen thought they were playing a prank, and explained, "We didn't do it. Digging a secret passage can't be hidden from everyone."
That's true. Putting aside the issue of tools, just breaking through the wall to build a passage is no small project, and the security personnel aren't deaf and mute.
The only reasonable explanation is that secret passages were planned in the blueprints when Arkham Asylum was first built.
"Now that you mention it, I'm even more excited, hehehe... my little darling, here I come."
Without a second thought, Allen rushed into the secret passage, leaving Edward and Cobbler stunned.
Didn't they even consider the potential danger? Allen's reckless actions made them hesitate.
Mentally ill people are not afraid of death, but they are afraid of dying.
The origins of Arkham Asylum can be traced back to the 1950s, so long ago that it's unclear who designed and built it.
"Why don't we take a look and withdraw if there's a problem?"
"If anything seems amiss, there can be no hesitation."
After much deliberation, the Riddler and the Penguin stepped into the secret passage.
I had only walked a few meters when I heard a strange noise behind me.
Looking back, they were shocked to find that the entrance to the secret passage was closing.
"Run!"
Edward shouted, trying to escape through the secret passage.
Unfortunately, they were too late. By the time they reached the door, the gap was no longer wide enough for a normal person to pass through.
A series of taps on the concrete wall produced a dull echo, indicating that the wall was very thick.
Now they're in a dilemma.
The only option was to grit my teeth and keep going, trying to catch up with Allen.
Before long, following the secret passage to the bottom, you will find a hidden underground track.
"Hurry up and get in the car, I've been waiting for you for a long time."
Allen sat in a railcar and waved to the two of them.
A railcar covered in rust. The underground tracks remain dry and free from corrosion and rust, only covered with a layer of dust-like rust.
Edward and Cobblestone took on the role of laborers, manually driving the railcar forward.
As we drove through the long tunnel, we were surrounded by dim yellow lights.
"This looks a lot like an underground military fortification. Could it be a secret military transport line?" Edward guessed.
The construction of Arkham Asylum took place during the Cold War, making it perfectly normal to set up a refuge to avoid nuclear war.
The once-unique nuclear missile crisis fueled the enthusiasm of America's wealthy to secretly build doomsday fortresses.
There seems to be a door ahead.
Cobb pointed straight ahead, to the end of the railway tracks, where a black iron gate was embedded in the wall.
As it approaches, manual pressing stops, and the track vehicle comes to a steady stop.
The three stood in front of the door, carefully examining the dark iron gate.
There was no door handle at all, and the edges were even perfectly fitted together.
Suddenly, a red light flashed, scanning Coppert from head to toe, followed by a synthesized electronic voice: "Target appearance features do not match."
Then, another scan was performed on Edward, yielding the same result.
"Unicron, I will not allow you to defile my body."
Just as the infrared scanner came, Allen dodged by changing position repeatedly, showing a very uncooperative attitude.
Seemingly anticipating this problem, infrared rays were suddenly emitted from multiple directions, scanning from different angles.
"Target matched. Welcome back, Commander."
The next second, the pitch-black iron gate rose up on its own.
What's going on?!
What's going on?!
This scene made Edward and Cobblestone's cerebellum shrink slightly.
Allen, Commander, are you kidding me?
By appointing a mentally ill person as commander, the organization has narrowed its path.
"Ahem... no need to welcome me."
Allen pretended to be calm and composed, putting his hands behind his back and adopting the air of a leader on an inspection tour.
Stepping through the iron gate, the interior unfolds before your eyes, revealing a secret base.
