Chapter 94
Setting Off Again in a New Timeline
Chapter 94 Setting Off Again in a New Timeline
The helicopter hovered above the rooftop.
Everyone looked up, and questions inevitably arose in their minds.
I dare not make a hasty judgment as to whether the visitor is friend or foe.
"Task Force X, here to provide support."
The next second, Harley Quinn jumped off the helicopter, followed by a large group of team members.
Allen and the others watched as the X-Force members landed one by one, each striking a pose, and couldn't help but feel the atmosphere was extremely awkward.
The crisis is over.
The support from the Sky Eye Association was far too slow.
"Look, isn't this the Joker who strikes fear into the hearts of Gotham?"
Upon seeing her old flame's makeup, Harley Quinn immediately teased, "Did you put on dark circles and think you were Robin?"
"Long time no see, Harry."
Arthur looked embarrassed.
They were originally a perfect couple among Gotham's criminals, but during a chase with Batman, he decisively betrayed Harley Quinn, which led to a feud.
"Hold him down, I'm going to blow his head off first."
Harley called to her teammates to avenge their abandonment.
"Stop! The crisis is over. You can retreat now."
Bruce stood between the two sides.
When the vampires invaded, he requested support from S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Sky Eye. S.H.I.E.L.D. was the first to respond, sending Eric, while Amanda of the Sky Eye readily agreed, but there has been no further action.
"Finish!?"
The members of the task force couldn't help but look disappointed.
They were fully armed and ready to make a big splash.
As a result, they arrived a step too late.
The main problem is that they make a wasted trip and don't gain any time for sentence reduction; otherwise, why would a group of criminals be so eager to participate?
Of course, if it weren't for the micro-bomb implanted in their brains, they probably would have broken up as soon as they were released from prison.
Are you imitating the X-Men?
Allen looked at the task force members, his gaze landing on a familiar figure.
"What right do you have to talk about us? Aren't you just imitating Batman too?" Harley retorted.
"I am the righteous knight Batman, the people's whip-wielding hero, and the comic relief of this book, the comic bat."
Allen made a gesture of covering his face with a cloak, then ripped off the mask.
"My busy baby, my little pet."
Allen spread his arms out, indicating that he wanted a hug.
Who is your little pet?
These words sounded like a provocation to Harley, who picked up a baseball bat, ready to give the guy with the glare a good beating.
Unexpectedly, a dark figure charged forward and tackled the person to the ground.
"Master, Nanawei missed you so much."
"You're shoving your nose into my eye again."
"Nanawi didn't mean it, Nanawi was just too happy."
"Can you get up first?"
Allen's eye was red and swollen from being rubbed, while Shark King Nanawi danced around happily.
Harley Quinn awkwardly put down her weapon. It turned out she wasn't being called her little pet after all; it seemed she had been deluding herself.
"You shouldn't be at S.H.I.E.L.D., how did you end up at SkyEye? You're really good at clinging to the system."
Allen stroked Nanawei's soft belly, which he liked to use as a mattress.
"Nanawi fell in love with a pink dolphin, and when he went on a date with the pink dolphin at night, he got arrested." Nanawi looked confused and innocent.
"Did you trespass into someone's aquarium?" Allen asked, blinking his eyes.
"Nanawi doesn't know which place is the aquarium."
Given Nanawei's intelligence, he probably can't tell the difference between an aquarium and thinks it's the home of pink dolphins.
In fact, it was Nanawi who broke into the aquarium in the middle of the night to steal dolphins, broke the glass used for viewing, and fled several streets with the dolphins in his arms. He was eventually caught by agents of the Sky Eye Society.
"Stay by my side from now on, and I'll find you pink dolphins and build you a huge swimming pool to raise lots and lots of dolphins," Allen comforted, stroking Nanawei's nose.
"Yay! Being with Master is the happiest thing!" Nanawei replied cheerfully.
"From now on, you will be my Shark Robin."
They agreed privately, but some people disagreed.
Nanawi is a key member of the task force; we can't just let him go.
Rick Flag, who also serves as captain, stepped in to stop them, saying, "You can't take Nanawi away; he still has a sentence to serve."
"Amanda, I know you were live-streaming the whole thing through a miniature camera. Now Nanawi has been transferred to Arkham Asylum to serve his sentence."
Allen isn't an unreasonable person; by not directly saying he'd give Nanawi his freedom, he's already given him plenty of face.
The X-team members looked unconvinced; whether or not they could take it away wasn't just a matter of words.
They implanted miniature bombs in their brains, capable of taking lives with the push of a button remotely.
However, Allen had seen the movie and was aware of the control methods used.
He placed one hand on Nanawi's ear and activated the magnetic attraction function.
His bat armor had been modified to include both useful and unnecessary functions.
Meanwhile, at the headquarters of the Sky Eye Society, Amanda saw on the control panel that the bomb signal light for Nanawi had been turned off.
Shortly after, the footage showed Allen taking a metal capsule out of Nanawi's ear.
This was a complete failure; not only did they fail to participate in the mission, but they also inexplicably lost a key member of the team.
Just when the atmosphere between the two sides was tense.
A golden bolt of lightning flashed by.
"Hey guys, am I late? I walked around Gotham City and didn't see any vampires."
The Flash, Barry Allen, arrived and casually tossed aside the bound and gagged Deathstroke, saying smugly, "I caught him on my way here."
To be honest, Deathstroke was furious. He was just about to leave Gotham by speedboat when he found himself back on the rooftop.
"Hey, Crab, I've already released him. Super Boy, why did you bring him back again?"
Allen hurriedly stepped forward to untie Deathstroke's ropes, urging, "You go quickly, I'll hold him off for you."
Instead of taking the stairs, the death knell jumped off the rooftop.
Just as Barry was about to give chase, Bruce grabbed his shoulder and stopped him, saying, "Don't chase him."
"Who is he?" Barry asked, puzzled. "Why should we listen to him?"
"He saved Gotham."
"..."
The matter was settled, and everyone went home.
Task Force X evacuated by helicopter.
Bruce invited everyone to rest.
Allen returns to Arkham with his comedy troupe.
Before leaving, Allen reminded him, "Bat, remember to take Green back to Arkham."
Allen's doting on Nanawi made the three Robins jealous, so they directly granted Arkham Fortress secondary access. They only had access rights, and if they took any items beyond their authority, the artificial intelligence Unity would activate the defense weapon system.
……
Arkham Asylum.
Nanawei lay comfortably in bed, flipping through a marine life magazine, engrossed in reading about dolphin species.
Allen lay on his mattress-like belly, fast asleep.
After several busy days without a good night's sleep, I'm really exhausted.
"The spacetime anchor point has been locked; the host may proceed with the journey."
Currently, players can choose from the following classes: Priest, Mage, and Shaman.
Friendly reminder: The difficulty of leveling up your third profession has increased by 50%.
"Selection timed out, random assignment in progress."
"Congratulations, host, on choosing the priest class."
