Chapter 9
My Date with Ah Zhen
Chapter 9 My Date with Ah Zhen
"You... will die on the seventh day..."
The eerie, hoarse voice coming from the phone sent a chill down one's spine.
Allen's face showed extraordinary excitement, confirming that it was indeed Sadako's call to haunt him, as if a lover he had been longing for was making an ambiguous call.
"Really?"
Allen asked expectantly, "Ah Zhen, could you call me every day from now on to chat?"
"cannot…"
"If you don't call me, I'll swallow feces and kill myself so you can't have me. Whether you believe it or not, I believe it," Allen threatened angrily.
"OK."
Faced with Allen's special threat, Sadako had no choice but to compromise.
To be honest, this was the first time she had ever met such a strange person.
Normal people who receive a horrifying phone call would immediately hang up in fright, unlike Allen who chatted animatedly.
"Then it's settled. Ah Zhen, please make sure I die by your hand."
"..."
Allen's words reeked of the cloying sweetness of being in love.
For a moment, Sadako was at a loss, and even felt a little touched.
She's so understanding.
If every cursed person were as reasonable as Ellen, her ghostly career would be much smoother.
"Ah Zhen, you have no idea how much I like you. I've watched The Ring at least three times, and I haven't missed any of the spin-offs, such as The Ring's Service Customs and The Ring's Borrowing Money and Falling Love. My favorite is the Mother-Daughter Sandwich you did with Kayako. I've been following your work in the 3D section and the doujinshi..." Allen couldn't help but recount his experience of secretly playing with the attending physician's computer at the Aoyama Rehabilitation Center.
"Beep...beep...beep..."
Sadako decisively hung up the phone.
Look at this, is this something a respectable person should read?
After hanging up the phone, Allen clenched his fists and raised them in front of him.
"Xiao Zuo, Xiao You, let me explain. I was just putting on an act. I really didn't have any thoughts of betraying my principles. Besides, you two participated in watching those educational videos together."
After the explanation, Allen relaxed his fists in relief.
the next day.
Alan stood absentmindedly by the landline phone, hoping for Sadako's promised call.
As a result, they waited from day to midnight but the death knell never came.
This angered Allen so much that he couldn't sleep soundly all night.
Day three.
Night falls.
The landline rang.
Allen answered the phone on the first ring, but there was silence on the other end.
"Ah Zhen, why didn't you call me? I waited for you all day yesterday, and I was too scared to sleep at night. I was worried that you would call and I would miss it, and that you would misunderstand and think I was playing a trick on you. But you only cared about calling other people, leaving me, the one who has you in my heart and is always thinking about you, out in the cold."
Allen vented his emotions with a roar, then waited for his emotions to calm down before changing his tone to one of worry: "I'm on a dangerous mission, and I can't even guarantee that I'll live to see you. I hope you cherish every moment we have together."
"sorry……"
"Will they call tomorrow?"
"Yes."
"It's a promise, goodnight."
Allen slept soundly through the night.
Fourth day.
Sadako's phone call came as expected.
The phone rang, and Allen deliberately waited a few seconds before answering.
"Guess who I am?"
On the phone, Sadako's tone was playful like a young girl, as if she were flirting with her boyfriend.
Allen was slightly taken aback, his eyes sharpening as he rebuked, "Ah Zhen, you're a vengeful ghost, how can you act on emotion? Where is your professional ethics? I was easily swayed by your slightest bit of coquetry, but if it were someone else, would you just let them go with sweet words because you're soft-hearted? Do you even want to continue your ghostly career?"
"..."
After a long silence, Sadako responded ominously, "I understand. You have three days left."
"I hope you stay the way you are," Allen said with satisfaction.
"Beep...beep...beep..."
Day .
The Assassins delivered the equipment, and Oliver pinpointed the target's location, but Allen decided to wait two more days before taking action.
That night, Sadako called.
"You have two days left, beep...beep..."
Day .
"You have one day left, beep... beep..."
On the seventh day, Sadako did not call. Today was the day she would take my life.
Allen walked out of the restroom, picked up a backpack containing his equipment.
The mission to retrieve the Blade of Redemption has officially begun.
When Allen left the hotel room, the television that should have been on the cabinet was nowhere to be found.
As soon as he went downstairs, Bruce and Oliver were already waiting for him.
Before leaving, Allen made a point of extending the lease for one more day to prevent Sadako from accidentally killing an unsuspecting tenant.
……
←Raccoon City, Silent Hill→
At the three-way intersection, there stands a rusty and mottled road sign.
A yellow taxi sped straight toward Silent Hill.
Inside the car were Allen and two others.
The driver continued playing heavy metal rock music, but the three remained unmoved and kept silent throughout.
The taxi drove onto a long-neglected road, and in less than fifteen minutes, it arrived at the front of an old town.
The three got out of the car and looked towards Silent Hill, bathed in the twilight sunlight. Under the yellow sunlight, the town was tinged with a sense of desolation.
"Pay up, you bastard."
The taxi driver yelled in frustration.
Allen casually took out a banknote and said nonchalantly, "Keep the change."
The driver took the money, skillfully swerved to make a U-turn, and sped off in the direction he had come from.
"How much did you pay?"
Bruce's warning was full of malice.
Allen took out the money from his pocket and was surprised to find that he had been given another hundred-dollar bill.
Oliver seized the opportunity to add insult to injury: "The fare was thirty-one dollars."
Alan immediately wanted to chase after the taxi, but it was already gone. Frustrated, he clutched his change and said angrily, "Damn it, I'm never taking a taxi again."
Who told you to be so generous? What does it have to do with the taxi driver?
"Silent Hill experienced an underground fire many years ago. Because the fire could not be extinguished, the smoke contained toxins, leading to the abandonment of the entire town."
Oliver revealed that the intelligence he had gathered was not exactly a secret; it could be found in the Philadelphia Archives. However, key information had been deliberately omitted. He had interviewed several elderly people who had moved away years ago and had a general idea of what had happened.
Bruce added, "The mission indicates that the one who stole the Blade of Redemption is an evil cult that has been hiding in Silent Hill, very discreetly and mysteriously, with limited information available."
"I have a question: how did they take the Blade of Redemption?"
Watching the two talk, Allen felt that if he didn't say a word or two, he would seem to have no presence.
"The Blade of Redemption was lent to a scholar for research, and the evil cult took the opportunity to steal it."
Bruce and Oliver exchanged a glance. Had this guy not read the contents of the intelligence report?
Before searching, review the key information to avoid being caught off guard in a crisis.
"Hey hey hey, you guys are looking at me like I'm some NPC just there to make up the numbers."
Allen said smugly, "Bat, I'm not trying to steal your thunder, it's just that I've seen the Silent Hill movies and know more than you guys."
