Chapter 14
A New Era
Audrey pinched her cheek to make sure she wasn't dreaming. Her eyes sparkled, and the corners of her mouth slowly turned up. She couldn't help but stand up, lift her skirt, and bow to the air.
The blonde girl, with light steps and a cheerful mood, danced the "Ancient Elf Dance," a popular dance in the court at the time, in her room.
The girl didn't notice that her reflection in the mirror didn't jump with her; instead, it gently shook its head.
"That's not how fairy dances are done."
"But you jumped quite well."
Xia Er commented on the girl dancing gracefully outside the mirror.
He has no interest in staying in the other person's mental world. As a special virtual personality, he himself has the characteristics of a person in a mirror.
Boom!Boom!
A knock sounded on the door.
Audrey's personal maid, Anne, entered after receiving permission. She looked at Audrey and smiled:
Which dress would you like to wear?
"I love the dress I wore on my seventeenth birthday."
Audrey thought for a moment and then said.
"No, that would make people think the Hall family is facing a financial crisis. How can you wear the same dress twice in public?"
Anne shook her head decisively.
Chael had no interest in the private life of the noblewoman. He gently raised his hand, and the surface of the bronze mirror shimmered, creating an illusion that sealed off the world within the mirror.
"Does the Hall family have so many extraordinary individuals?"
"Although there isn't a single one who can fight."
Xia Er stopped paying attention to the outside world. The strongest person in the villa was only a Sequence 6 Extraordinary, who couldn't detect his presence at all.
What he needs most right now is to replenish his spirituality and strength.
He also needs to understand everything about this era.
"Arods."
Shael drew a mysterious rune symbolizing Arodes. His current spiritual body was filled with the power of the "magic mirror," so it was impossible for him not to find this "magical" mirror.
"Chael? Is that you?"
In the mirror world, streaks of silver elven runes appeared out of thin air.
"It's me. You recognize me. It seems we're not from a parallel world. Later, please send me a package containing the common languages and general knowledge of the various countries in the Fifth Era. I'll replenish my spiritual energy later."
"May I ask, what happened? What about me in this era?"
After sensing the familiar aura, Xia Er spoke directly.
"You answered my question, now it's my turn to answer yours."
"This is the Fifth Era, which is about 2,500 years after the Age of Conflict."
"You are unique; there is no second you."
A series of silver characters appeared.
"Yeah?"
Am I not part of this era?
So I'm dead?
The Age of Gods was indeed terrifying.
Chael's emotions were relatively stable.
So what if I die? It's not a big deal.
Arodes was very helpful; his silvery light enveloped Shael, transmitting data while also helping Shael restore his spirit and spirituality.
There's no other way; only the living extraordinary beings can regain their spirituality on their own. Various spirits and the undead can only maintain their existence through the power of the spirit world and the underworld.
He raised his right arm, which was already almost completely transparent, and began to browse some information about this era.
Arrodes did not provide information about the Fourth Age, about what Shael would experience in the past, in the future, and in the past of the future.
Shael didn't ask any questions. He still wanted to maintain a certain awe for the unknown. Besides, what happened in the Fourth Age? Wouldn't it be clear if we looked at the Fifth Age?
"Former Archbishop of the Church of the Night, Ince Zangwill, stole a Level 0 sealed artifact from the Church of the Night, 0-08, and defected?"
Xia Er's lips twitched as he looked at the message. Had he died young?
The world order in the Fifth Age is basically the same as what he knows. Could it be that he didn't make a name for himself in the Fourth Age?
"I can't tell you where that pen is, otherwise it would know."
Arodes saw through Shael's thoughts, and new lines of text appeared.
It has its limits and cannot answer questions involving the true God and uniqueness. If the question involves the angelic level, it may also be noticed, and the answer may be altered or obscured.
"It's okay, I know where it might be."
At this moment, Xia Er had a sudden realization: he might not have done nothing in the Fourth Era. Preserving certain known plot details was a major advantage for a transmigrator, wasn't it?
"Looks like I should be resurrected?"
"If I were already dead in the Fifth Age, then I must be brought back to life."
Do you have any recommendations for a resurrection vessel?
Chael didn't have any good candidates for this, so he could only think of possessing the poor Viscount Grelint.
The light screen in front of me paused for a moment.
Then a large amount of information was projected.
Xia Er glanced at it and saw that it was mostly a list of insignificant characters who had recently died from Backlund, and some of them were extraordinary individuals who had taken potions.
Arrodes provided mostly information on minor nobles and some young men from the middle class.
These people enjoy a certain social status, possess a certain amount of knowledge and wealth, and are not easily seen by church saints or royal angels.
When Xia Er saw one of the documents, he raised an eyebrow. This was a good temporary identity.
The youngest son of Maynard, a councilor in Tingen, whose father is a strong contender for the next mayor of Tingen, whose mother is the daughter of a New Party leader, and who has an older brother who is actively involved in Ruen politics. Their relationship is only that of ordinary brothers. He has a strong interest in the occult.
The cause of death was... wanting to keep a desperate witch as a mistress? And even wanting to lock her in the basement, preventing her from contacting other men?
"Kid, you've got guts. I acknowledge you."
Shael stretched his body, which was gradually regaining its energy, and said with a smile:
"We need to get there as soon as possible before our target is completely dead."
"I don't have the ability to bring the dead back to life."
On the screen, ripples of water gradually reveal a picture.
In the dimly lit basement, a young man lay on the ground, his limbs twitching uncontrollably. A small, pale foot was pressing on his head, the toes slightly outstretched, as if he were on a spring outing.
"How am I supposed to log back in if this witch doesn't leave?"
"Arods, camera up."
Chael frowned slightly; this witch's continued presence was causing quite a delay.
The light screen's perspective began to rise, passing over the area without holy light, revealing a witch wearing a loose robe, with smooth, fair skin, her hair loosely tied up, and a somewhat languid air.
A series of mercury-colored descriptions were displayed on the side.
Panatia, the Nightingale of Despair, Sequence 4, the Witch of Despair, is one of the leaders of the Witch Church in Backlund.
