Chapter 18
The Secret Prayer
"Are you blaming me for forcing you to reveal your secret?"
Gohshinam said in a somewhat strange tone.
"My dear Queen, you're overthinking it. Appropriate honesty is the foundation of trust, isn't it?"
"We are all elves. What I want to say, I will tell you even if you don't ask. What I don't want to say, I won't care even if you ask."
"I can see you have doubts. You think my refusal of your help stems from dissatisfaction or a lack of trust in you."
"Alright, it's true that we don't trust you enough. After all, you're just angels, while it's the gods who might attack us."
That's why I'm being extra careful.
"But I still trust you. The elves only have so much to offer, and they can't withstand a few more setbacks."
"Let's play it safe and develop slowly."
Once Xia Er started talking, he waved for a chair and sat down, then chatted with Goshinam in high spirits.
He wasn't exactly a serious person to begin with, so isn't this a good thing? Does he want to become the next Klein? Alone, all alone, ascending to the highest throne?
"I didn't expect you to be so cheerful?"
Goshinam sat back on the throne and looked at Shael with interest, asking her a question.
She really didn't expect that this elf, who always seemed to be carrying a fishing rod, would actually be so talkative.
Are there any introverted elves among us?
As he spoke, Xia Er pointed to his own body.
"To be honest, it hurts quite a bit."
It's fun when Xia Er is fighting, but you'll know how much it hurts afterward.
He insisted on consuming his opponent's Poseidon ability right after the battle, when his mental state was not yet stable.
Besides drawing all the hatred from the Church of Storms to himself, he also wanted to increase his power.
In terms of combat skills alone, Xia'er is no match for the Sea King who was killed. He can only work on improving his basic stats first.
"You are the first elf to cry out in pain in front of me."
Goshinam then began to fiddle with her golden wine glass.
"I'm doing this to cooperate with your psychotherapy and emotional support."
"You pulled me into the dream world as soon as I got back, wasn't it because you were worried I'd lose control?"
"I'll just say that," Xia Er shrugged.
He's not an ungrateful bastard.
This is an angel who can actively help him heal his mental state, which is much better than Xia Er's self-soothing.
"You adjusted very quickly."
Gohchinam said with some relief.
"People of our generation were generally quite resilient to stress."
"I said it casually," Xia Er said.
Are you interested in telling me?
Gohshinam looked over, his tone playful.
"Next time, my fish took the bait."
Shael grinned at Goshinam, then vanished from the dream, detached from reality, and with a sudden jerk of his fishing rod, pulled the creature from the seabed up using brute force.
"Hmph~"
The "Queen of Natural Disasters" gave a soft snort and vanished along with the illusory dream.
......
The Fifth Age.
Backlund, a mansion in the West End.
Xia'er has already prepared the Sequence 9 Secret Prayer potion.
Young Maynard was originally a lover of the occult, and now that he's an adult and has moved out, he certainly has no shortage of basic occult materials.
The materials for the Secret Prayer's potions are easy to collect, and the Aurora Society, unlike the Church of the True God, doesn't strictly control the means of obtaining them.
Regardless of your identity before taking the potion, after taking it, you become a believer of the Lord, and everyone is one family.
"The abilities of the Mystic don't seem to be of much use to me?"
Xia Er muttered to himself, used to soaring through the skies and diving into the earth, conjuring lightning with his bare hands, and commanding the wind and rain.
He's still getting used to his new account.
"It tastes quite sweet."
He took a small sip, then drank the entire potion. He didn't feel anything special; a Sequence 9 potion couldn't even make him hallucinate.
This potion contains a lot of knowledge, but it was all added by humans later. For example, the name of the true creator, the angel of fate, Urolius, is mentioned. Once you say it, there's no going back.
"This feels like a scam link."
Xia Er was speechless.
In his view, more than half of the knowledge provided by potions would be corrupted if one tried it.
This is quite normal, since this knowledge was summarized by the true Creator and His followers.
"Arods, is something fun happening?"
Shael looked at a mirror on the desk; its surface shimmered, displaying a scene:
Martin, the personal servant, is sorting through various banquet invitations and arranging his daily outings for the next few days.
That's not what I meant.
Chael tapped the table lightly. This kind of social interaction among nobles wasn't very interesting; most of the time it was just a waste of time.
"Chael, you'll be interested."
Arrodes knew Chael well. After the silver subtitles flashed, the image zoomed in and finally settled on an invitation.
"Um?"
Xia Er looked over and was slightly surprised to find that the invitation was sent by Congressman Macht.
"so what?"
"I can't help but ask," Xia Er continued.
"This congressman has a lovely noblewoman in his family."
Arrodes's subtitles became a bit mischievous.
"Who turned you into this?"
"Me?"
"You really know me well."
Chael clapped her hands lightly, having made her decision: to enjoy the decadent life of aristocracy and to offer her utmost loyalty to the gods of the corrupt realm.
"But is my current reputation really that good? I've been playing in the basement, and I still managed to get an invitation to a dinner party?"
Although MP Macht is also a member of the New Party, if Maynard Jr. had such a bad reputation, he probably wouldn't have been invited to such a close-knit dinner.
"Did the witch choose to keep it a secret?"
"I asked, Shael."
"That lady was just playing around; she didn't want to attract your mother's attention or interfere with her plans."
The magic mirror Arodes gave the answer.
Even a witch wouldn't want to go through the trouble of killing nobles one by one according to the family tree in Backlund; the royal family and the church would also try to stop her.
"Then there's no problem."
"I've seen his memories. Before he met the witch, young Maynard wasn't interested in women, except for being somewhat rebellious."
After understanding, Shael began to play the role of the "secret prayer person," praying daily as if clocking in:
"The Creator of all things, the all-knowing and all-powerful God."
"You are the source of all greatness; you are the beginning and the end."
"You are the God of Gods, the ruler of the vast star realm."
Chael prayed fervently, feeling the potion's spirituality begin to "digest" little by little.
This was also what he had planned. Since a qualified cryptid needs a master, why not choose the strongest one to believe in?
Moreover, this person has long since passed away, and his current name is still an empty number; the residents of Silver City have prayed for thousands of years without anyone answering.
Why not use this to speed up the digestion process?
