Chapter 35
Gray Fog and the Chaotic Sea
"The state system of the Fourth Age?"
"That might be better, or there might be other problems, but we know it's unrealistic."
"Gentlemen, do you have any other suggestions?"
Audrey smiled somewhat helplessly.
Mr. "Angel" always likes to give answers that may sound helpful, but they don't actually solve the problem.
Shael didn't continue answering the question. What else could he say? Suggest that the Kingdom of Rune give the emerging intellectuals a chance to work? Or applaud and cheer, supporting the people's freedom to starve to death?
"This is a simple question."
Seeing that no one answered, Klein smiled confidently; this was an area he was familiar with.
He introduced the civil service examination system.
Audrey thought carefully, and even Alger, who was not interested in the topic, listened attentively.
Through a series of questions and answers, the group helped Rune develop a rough outline, and Klein also made significant contributions to Benson's landing and George III's deification ceremony.
"That's a great idea."
"Mr. Fool, you must be a wise, experienced, and exceptionally capable elder."
The blonde girl praised sincerely.
Mr. Fool's eyelid twitched.
"Yes, this perspective of thinking from the viewpoint of the entire kingdom is not something that everyone can possess."
"If I didn't know it was unlikely, I would have thought you had led a vast country."
Xia Er also joined in the praise.
Is this a compliment or an insult?
What do you mean by "you know it's unlikely"?
Klein was annoyed, but Xia'er's tone made it sound like she was saying, "How could a mysterious figure like you get involved with worldly power?"
Yes, a man as great as Mr. Fool is no different from a king or prime minister.
The Fool provided a simple solution to a problem they couldn't even imagine. Audrey, you must never underestimate the Fool again.
The blonde girl gently patted her cheeks. She had seen kings, prime ministers, and archbishops of the church, but she had never met a mysterious and wise man like Mr. Fool before.
The Fool's identity is probably even more terrifying than she imagined.
Let's call this a day.
Seeing the three people reacting differently and clearly imagining things, Klein suppressed his embarrassment and announced the end of the party.
He doesn't actually mind these members making up their own interpretations, but if you want to make up your own interpretations, just do it, don't say it out loud!
"As you wish." ×3
Chael rose and bowed in response.
He then communicated with his crimson star, his ethereal form shattered, and his consciousness began to return.
......
The Fourth Age.
The settlement of elves.
Shael stared at the golden chain in his hand, remaining silent for a moment. He gripped Arodes with one hand, drawing upon the power of the Cataclysmic nature sealed within it, while his other hand squeezed hard, causing lightning to crackle.
This lowest-grade sealed artifact was shattered, but instead of reforming into extraordinary properties, it turned into grayish-white mist and returned to the fog of history.
"What's this?"
Xia Er stared at her empty right hand and muttered to herself.
Of course he could see it; wasn't this just a historical glimpse into the past?
Could the items sacrificed in the Fifth Age not actually reach the Fourth Age, but only project a historical slit image?
Does the Source Castle also possess the ability to borrow power from the future and summon historical projections?
Does the Celestial Venerable have this ability?
Xia Er recalled his memories before he transmigrated, and he had never seen the Gui San family use it like this before.
Was this something that Source Castle originally had? Or did his time travel help Source Castle unlock it?
What use is this ability to me?
Shael looked at the magic mirror beside him and asked:
"Arods, what do you think?"
"Chael, I have a feeling."
Arodes said somewhat hesitantly.
"Say whatever you want. In the future timeline, I'm still just a nobody with a double sequence 9."
"If it's just the ability to summon historical projections, I really don't know how the future can help my present."
Shael shrugged. He knew the Fourth Age was a golden age for development, but if the future couldn't help the present... it would be a bit of a loss.
No matter what, he just couldn't believe that this bug couldn't be exploited.
"Chael, could you... try again?"
The image of Shael's actions just now appeared on Arrodes's mirror.
"Theoretically, it is possible."
"Wait a minute."
Chael's figure disappeared in the swirling wind, and when he returned, a misty heart appeared in his hand.
This is a Sequence 3 Ancient Scholar trait, from the dead Dire Wolf clan, and is one of the treasures of the Elven Vault.
Using this extraordinary property, Xia Er reached out into the void, attempting to summon the golden chains he had just possessed once more.
His hand grasped at nothing, as if he were grasping at thin air, without any sense of connection to the mists of history.
"I did have it."
He thought about it for a moment.
"Couldn't the historical projection we're summoning be a projection through historical gaps?"
"Having come into contact with a historical projection of a sealed artifact doesn't count as having possessed that sealed artifact?"
"But I didn't experience the Fourth Age, though I did experience the Fifth Age."
Chael grabbed again, but still missed.
He tried to summon the devoured Poseidon's ability, and although it was difficult, after several failures, he finally managed to summon a Sequence 3 Extraordinary ability.
"Lacking the power of the Source Castle?"
"Things that summon the future need the future..."
Shael attempted to mentally inscribe his luck-changing runes, and began setting up a prayer ritual pointing upwards into the gray mist.
Inside the gray fog space, the "Crimson Star," symbolizing "Shael," began to twinkle. The furnishings left inside automatically responded, handling the message for the "Fool" who was offline.
In the real world, after the ritual magic succeeded, Shael summoned a historical projection again, this time easily summoning items from the future.
"Arods, do you need me to shatter this sealed artifact again?"
Chael stopped the prayer ceremony and asked, fiddling with the chains in his hands.
"Yes, I want to try and see if I can intervene to some extent."
The gems on both sides of the "magic mirror" lit up like eyes.
"Then let's give it a try."
"Just crush it."
"Anyway, the natural disaster trait is with you."
Xia Er briefly recalled the process of shattering the extraordinary characteristic for the first time. Although he had some guesses, he was not a demigod of the White Tower Path and did not find any obvious abnormalities.
The mirror of "Arodes" reflected the calamity sealed within, and the lightning that erupted from the mirror shattered the seal.
After the sealed artifact (historical projection) was shattered, it should have turned into gray-white mist and returned to the fog of history.
However, the surface of the "magic mirror" glows with silver light, covering this grayish-white mist and drawing it into the interior of the mirror, thus cutting off its connection with the outside world.
