Chapter 9
Does Not Belong to This Era
After returning to the sea, Chael planned to continue his research on the gray fog.
He had no choice. In the upcoming Fourth Era, all five families were destined to have no future. This path was a dead end. He should try to find a way to change course and go directly to the Gui San family as soon as possible.
That way, the chances of surviving the Age of Gods are even greater.
The projection he left in the magic mirror began chanting the name of "The Fool":
"A fool who does not belong to this era."
"The mysterious ruler above the gray fog."
"The King of Yellow and Black, who holds the key to good fortune."
"I wish to behold your great divine kingdom; please open the door."
After chanting "Shael" several times, Yuanbao did not react much. It's not that there was no reaction, though, since the back door he left was still there. He wanted to make the gray mist respond to him through prayer. It was possible to use the power of the gray mist to create some talismans. He could even use his luck-changing runes to clear away some potential pollution.
Yes, "Shael" hadn't discovered it before either. It turns out that he was secretly corrupted when he awoke in that remnant of the divine war. No wonder he could summon Arodes so easily. Is the reach of the Chaos Sea really that far?
Amanisis, didn't you want to pollute it while you were at it?
"Shael" was somewhat numb. He knew that he, as a Sequence 3 Sea King, could not ascend to the Gray Fog Space. Even if he had consumed some low-level characteristics from the wrong path, he still could not ascend. However, his separated spirituality should be able to. Arodes' power stabilized the projection in the mirror, and his own spirituality served as the core. Didn't he successfully smuggle himself in last time?
Why not this time?
Has this bug been fixed?
How do you explain the repeated failures of the Yuanbao launch?
With the primordial God dead, can the Chaos Sea still install new virus plugins while keeping up with the bug fixes at Source Castle? Who is truly the superior pillar of the erroneous path?
"It's so annoying, it feels like I'm in prison."
"Shael" could sense that "Sea King" had already gone fishing. His virtual personality still had to keep trying to log in. He even tried the luck-changing ritual belonging to Klein, chanting "Fusheng Xuanhuang Tianzun" all the way to "Fools who do not belong to this era" like a broken record. Even Arodes got tired of it and switched to watching the "elves" fishing at sea. He still had to continue trying all sorts of login passwords here.
What he didn't know was that while he was in prison here, the "message notifications" above the gray fog had already reached 99+. When Zhou Mingrui saw that "deep red star" that kept flashing and flashing, as if carrying some kind of strong resentment, his modern-day obsessive-compulsive disorder kicked in, and he couldn't help but click on it.
After clicking the button, just as Zhou Mingrui was starting to regret it, nothing happened. The only change was that the dazzling crimson star... went out.
Zhou Mingrui looked left and right, confirming that nothing had happened. He didn't know whether to be happy or disappointed. Then he noticed the deep red stars nearby that hadn't been twinkling. Curious, he reached out his paw and touched one of them. He thought, if touching the bright one made it go out, then touching the one that wasn't bright to begin with shouldn't cause any reaction, right? Could it possibly catch fire?
As the saying goes, good things don't come, bad things do. Zhou Mingrui only touched it lightly, and the deep red star suddenly burst out with dazzling light, like some kind of dreamlike flame igniting at his fingertips. He was startled, his hand trembled, and he accidentally touched another deep red star, which also lit up.
"I can still be saved!"
This sudden change startled Zhou Mingrui, but he remembered his experience with the first crimson star. He figured that if he pressed it again, the light of these crimson stars should dim. However, before he could even grit his teeth and take action, a string of Elvish babbling flooded his mind. Zhou Mingrui couldn't understand it, but the 99+ voice messages playing simultaneously left his brain blank.
These prayers should have been in a sequential order, but perhaps due to network latency or the first loading of some kind of plugin, all the voices surged up at once, creating a chaotic cacophony that pierced the ears like a demonic chant. This held Mr. Fool, who was entering the gray fog space for the first time, captive until three blurry projections appeared above the gray fog, at which point his consciousness gradually returned.
In the mirror world, having already transformed it to project a blue ocean, Xia Er holds a fishing rod and gazes at the 3D ocean where no fish will bite. The initial enthusiasm for the attempt has been reduced to idling and procrastinating.
"Open Sesame, and the Oolong emerges from its cave."
"Balala Energy, Little Fairy Transforms!"
He idly flicked his fishing rod, watching a certain sea king pour the full bucket back into the sea. His mind was already wandering when a deep red light flashed before his eyes. He was surprised and came back to his senses. What was the password he had just entered?
...
Above the gray fog.
"Sir, where is this?"
"What do you want to do?"
After Xia Er regained his sight, he heard these two voices.
Something seems wrong?
He looked at the two people speaking, and through the gray mist, he could vaguely see a petite blonde girl and a man with dark blue hair that was messy like seaweed. This familiar feeling made him look in the direction where the two of them were looking with terror and vigilance, where there was a mysterious being shrouded in gray mist.
Zhou Mingrui?
Klein?
Or... the Celestial Venerable?
A dream?
What language do they speak?
Is it Rune?
I haven't studied that.
Want to learn in person?
All you need is a talisman that understands languages. Does the Gray Fog Space also have an automatic translation function?
Xia Er instinctively beckoned with his finger, sensing that the plug-in he left on the gray fog was still functioning normally, but judging from the feedback, how come this plug-in hasn't been functioning for thousands of years?
Good news, the plugin is still available. By influencing the fog through the plugin, automatic translation can be easily achieved.
Bad news, it seems he's time-traveled again.
What's the point of him having a virtual personality that transmigrates?
The shock Xia'er experienced was no less than that of Zhou Mingrui, who was not far away. His slightly trembling fingers and somewhat unfocused gaze, not knowing where to look, formed a stark contrast to Zhou Mingrui, who was equally bewildered but still able to maintain his rationality. One seemed to be so frightened that he was at a loss, while the other appeared to be a mysterious and unpredictable figure.
Were they scared by me?
When Zhou Mingrui saw the tall, slender woman with long, straight black hair looking stunned, he immediately decided to increase the intensity of the attack!
He noticed the barely concealed panic in the three people opposite him, and his initial anxiety immediately subsided. He chuckled softly, his voice neither hurried nor slow, as if politely responding to a visitor's greeting:
"An attempt."
