Chapter 30
Accident
Chapter 30 Accident
Not long after Ian left the base, he spotted several trees that looked quite thick, with each tree estimated to be at least 50 centimeters in diameter.
He quickly used a cutting spell to cut it down, set it aside, and then continued searching for suitable trees.
He had previously calculated that the wasteland burned by the Flame Curse was about 400 square meters. A 50-centimeter-long piece of wood, cut in half, could form a natural wall one meter wide.
Based on this calculation, it means that at least one hundred pieces of wood would need to be cut to completely enclose his vegetable garden.
Fortunately, this area has no shortage of trees, especially parasitic trees which grow exceptionally fast.
"The workload is quite large, but it doesn't matter. If I don't find something to do, am I supposed to stay at home reading books for a whole month?"
This will allow me to thoroughly sift through this area, eliminating potential dangers, and also serve as a way to solidify my magical practice.
……
With great interest, Ian started playing games like "building blocks" and "whack-a-mole". After all, he had alchemical items that could unleash the Ironclad Charm at any time, so he had no worries about his safety.
Ian was thoroughly enjoying the magic at that moment, casting petrification spells, knockback spells, barrier spells, shattering spells, and cutting spells frequently.
It evokes the feeling of childhood when people used twigs to pull up rapeseed flowers, leaving no trace of them in their wake.
He took out the pocket watch with the Portkey given to him by Dumbledore, checked the time, and as expected, the Portkey attached to it could not be used for teleportation.
However, this exquisite mechanical watch became Ian's tool for keeping track of time in the apocalypse.
"It's 11:05. I've collected about 100 pieces of wood. I can go back and prepare lunch now. There's plenty of time. It's more fun to take it slow."
While using the levitation spell to pack the cut trees into his backpack, he checked for any missing pieces to see if any had escaped.
……
When he returned to the stronghold, it was almost noon, but he did not see the figure who was working in the fields. Instead, he saw a woman lying on the ground unconscious.
Ian's heart skipped a beat; this didn't look like an attack.
"Are you alright? Feed...feed..."
He called out as he ran quickly toward the figure on the ground.
When he got closer, he turned Eileen over so she could lie flat and then checked her injuries.
The person's eyes were closed, breathing rapidly, face pale, and sweat was pouring from their forehead, clearly indicating a coma due to low blood sugar.
Even while unconscious, he still gripped the shovel he was using to turn the ground firmly with both hands.
Ian had no choice but to use "Relaxation of Strength" to get the other person to let go. The slender, fair hands were covered with blood blisters that shocked even Ian. Some of them had broken and were oozing blood.
Looking at Eileen, who was unusually weak and pitiful at that moment, Ian really wanted to slap her a couple of times.
"Are you out of your mind? Have you not eaten for days? Damn your pride. If I had been any later, I would have been collecting your corpse."
Ian knew the horrors of low blood sugar, so he quickly took out a vitality tonic and a white sage essence from his backpack.
These were the only two potions he knew of that Muggles could use after asking Snape, but the Vitality Tonic needed to be fully diluted beforehand.
He wasn't a doctor, and aside from forcibly prying open his mouth and pouring a diluted vitality tonic down his throat, he didn't know what else he needed to do at this moment.
All that's left is to wait quietly.
Fortunately, he soon saw that her breathing had calmed down and her heartbeat was normal, which made him breathe a sigh of relief.
After confirming that she was not in any immediate danger, Ian planned to carry her to a room to rest.
Of course, to avoid secondary damage from the bumps and swaying, the levitation spell was still used.
He let the other person float steadily in mid-air, and then slowly dragged them back to the room. Before he could make any furniture, he took out his own pine single bed from his backpack to make do.
Gently place her on the bed, raise your wand and use "Clean Up" to remove the dust and bloodstains from her body.
Then, clean the wounds on your hands and apply pyrrolizidine benzoin essence to them. The wounds and blisters healed very quickly, almost visibly.
"I hope you get better soon. After all, in this terrible world, being alive is the greatest blessing. At least you have someone to accompany you, so you won't feel abandoned by the world."
Ian prayed silently in his heart.
