The Confidence That Needs No Hiding

Chapter 48 The Confidence That Needs No Hiding

After enjoying a warm and peaceful dinner with Eileen, Ian spoke first, "Are you free right now? If you have time, I'd like to take you somewhere."

Seeing Ian's feigned mystery, Eileen's curiosity was successfully piqued. After all, in these monotonous days, the appearance of one or two interesting and novel things was something to look forward to.

"Then what are you waiting for? Let's go now," Eileen replied curiously.

Upon receiving the reply, Ian stood up and led Eileen to the living room, where the infinitely extendable backpack he had taken down earlier was located.

Yes, Ian planned to take Eileen into the infinitely expandable backpack space. After all, all his books were in the space. Taking her in to familiarize herself with the area would make it easier for her to organize them later. Otherwise, taking them out one by one would be very troublesome and a waste of time.

The main reason was that Ian didn't want to hide anything. After spending so much time together, he had come to appreciate Eileen's character and kindness.

Secondly, there's the existence of the spyglass. It can detect any untrustworthy people nearby and immediately sound an alarm. Moreover, Ian never told the other party about this function of the spyglass.

With this double assurance, Ian decided to let Eileen know about the infinitely extendable backpack.

……

Getting back to the main point, when the two arrived in the living room...

Under Eileen's curious gaze, Ian slowly unbuttoned his backpack. The backpack's entrance, which lay flat on the ground, instantly expanded into a deep hole more than a meter in diameter, with rows of neat stairs extending downwards along the ground.

Ignoring the somewhat surprised Eileen behind him, Ian immediately said, "Follow me, I'll take you to a magical place."

The initial entrance was only about a meter wide. As you slowly walk down the stairs, the surroundings gradually expand. Finally, after climbing the last staircase, you are greeted by a magical space.

The area, roughly the size of two or three basketball courts, features a two-story wooden cabin in a rugged Viking-era style, and of course, a mountain of books.

Eileen was stunned by the sight before her, unconsciously muttering to herself:

"I always thought your magic could shrink things and then bring them back in a backpack. Good heavens, unbelievable... there's another world inside that backpack..."

"Isn't that amazing! You can come here to move books that need organizing from now on," Ian said to Eileen, equally pleased.

"Ian? I want to ask you something. Can I learn magic? I've wanted to ask you this for ages, it's so amazing."

Looking at Eileen's expectant face, Ian simply replied calmly, "Honestly, I don't know! You can think of magic as a kind of bloodline talent; it's something you're born with or you're not."

Ian paused deliberately for a moment, and after noticing only a hint of disappointment in the other person's pure eyes, without any resentment or jealousy, he slowly continued:

"But what I want to say is that magic is about creating miracles, and no one can predict the future. I'm currently just an apprentice who has just begun to understand magic. That's why I need your help. If we work together to learn this knowledge, maybe we can find a way for you to learn magic."

Ian didn't make empty promises to Eileen; he told the truth that the incomplete bloodline potion recipe he had obtained earlier, if studied further, could very well make Eileen a wizard—though it was only a possibility.

Ian's attempt to complete the incomplete ancient potion formula was not a pipe dream; he truly had exceptional advantages.

He could control the resources of an entire world, even if the world was already broken and desolate, it still had infinite value waiting to be developed.

The fact that he was able to collect so many books in the library is a good example, not to mention that the world is constantly changing in a silent way.

"Yes! I believe in you, and I believe in myself. We will definitely find a way."

Eileen spoke confidently, raising her small, fair hand and clenching her fist to cheer herself on.

"You can wander around here for now. There's a place to rest inside the cabin. If you get bored, just come out. I'll keep the stairs open. Don't be too careful; it's perfectly safe here. But I have to go out now. There can't be anyone out here, or I won't even know if the spy camera alarms."

After saying this, Ian turned around and walked back the way he came, leaving step by step down the stairs.

Eileen watched Ian's retreating figure until he completely disappeared from her sight.

She understood perfectly well that Ian's decision to bring her here was a testament to his absolute trust. Putting herself in his shoes, if she had obtained such a treasure in the apocalypse, would she have chosen to share this secret?

Therefore, Ian's actions deeply moved her, and she even began to trust him completely.

"Don't worry, I won't let you down. Even if I can't learn magic, I'll help you in other ways."

Eileen thought to herself. Then, full of energy, she turned and walked toward the mountain of books, ready to begin her new work.
