Chapter 46

Packaging the Library

Chapter 46 Packaging the Library

Ian was located not far from the library.

He arrived at the square outside the library in less than half an hour by flying in a straight line.

Instead of landing immediately, he circled the library twice to make sure there weren't too many parasites around, so he wouldn't be surrounded.

While maintaining low altitude, he carefully surveyed his surroundings. His wand occasionally unleashed various spells, and after thoroughly cleaning and ensuring safety, Ian finally dismounted from the broom.

……

What comes into view is a library with a very futuristic architectural style. According to the map, the original designer even won an award for this design.

The library is a tall, light blue, hexagonal, honeycomb-like building that stands quietly in the center of the square.

The most eye-catching feature is the staircase leading to the main entrance of the library. The ingenious designer has designed it in the shape of waves. The milky white staircase unfolds layer by layer, and climbing the steps is like walking on waves. People seem to come on the waves and enter this temple of knowledge.

When Ian entered the hall, he felt lucky because the place had not been damaged much. Perhaps because it had been idle for too long, the various furnishings in the hall were covered with dust, making it look somewhat desolate and dilapidated.

However, with rows of bookshelves and mountains of books, this place seemed to have been forgotten by time. The combination of quiet, desolation, books, and knowledge gave Ian a special feeling.

Thanks to the library's unique hexagonal architectural style, it is naturally divided into six major areas.

Ian walked up to the huge sign and accurately found the area where the humanities, arts, novels and biographies were located. Without hesitation, he headed straight for his target area.

Although the sign only showed a small area, when Ian arrived at the site, he found that there were at least several thousand books in the humanities and arts category alone, not to mention the many more novels and biographies next to it.

I carefully surveyed the surroundings and glanced at the books on the bookshelf.

At this moment, Ian finally confirmed his guess: this was indeed a parallel world with a different human history from the magical world.

The rest was much simpler. With the help of magic, a massive amount of books poured into the infinitely expanding backpack like a floodgate being opened.

Fortunately, the backpack had enough space, but even so, the books still took up a small portion of the space, almost filling the area the size of a basketball court.

Ian, adhering to the principle that since he was there, he brought as many interesting and time-killing items as possible, including records and comics. Of course, he also brought a whole bookshelf full of gardening management books for Eileen.

This trip took almost half a day. It wasn't because the workload was too heavy, but mainly because he spent too much time searching and wandering around.

Perhaps the Sorting Hat was really accurate, because Ian wasn't very concerned about other things, including Galleons, and always maintained a detached attitude—enough was enough, and he wasn't overly greedy or attached.

But when it comes to books, he seems to have an obsession with them. Once he sees one, he can't move away and wants to possess it, just like a real Ravenclaw.

Even if he doesn't need it right now, he just wants to save it up and keep it. Ian had this urge before at the Hogwarts Library and even at Flour and Blotts.

After doing all this, Ian took out the exquisite mechanical pocket watch, checked the time: 4:30 PM. It wasn't exactly early, and since he had nothing to do back home, he decided to continue exploring the other areas to see if he could find anything else useful.

As dusk approached, Ian reluctantly left the city library, mounted his flying broom, and returned to the base. No dramatic accidents occurred during his journey, and everything remained peaceful and serene.

Eileen wasn't busy in the vegetable garden, and she wasn't seen anywhere else. I wondered what she was doing.

After landing smoothly, Ian went back to his room first, because he needed to organize the books in his backpack. He had to take out the books that he could use right now, as well as some that he needed to give to Eileen.

"Cough cough..." As soon as he opened the villa door, before Ian could even react, he was choked by a thick cloud of smoke mixed with various strange smells, making it impossible for him to open his eyes.

"Sweep it all away!"

"Completely cleaned up!"

"Safeguarding the town!"

Almost instinctively, Ian unleashed three spells in quick succession. Then he rushed to the scene of the accident—the kitchen.

"A complete mess"—Ian might not have understood this phrase at first, but today, he did. Looking at the chaotic kitchen and Eileen's innocent expression, he suddenly felt incredibly tired…

"Restored to its original state!"

The Restoration Spell, enhanced by Ian's powerful magic, instantly restored everything in the kitchen to the state it was in when he left.

Ian looked at Eileen, who was covered in oil stains and had her face covered in various colors, and he was both angry and amused.

What really bothered Ian was her actions today. He was genuinely afraid that one day when he wasn't home, she might set the house on fire. He didn't care if things got burned, but he was afraid she might ruin herself.

As mentioned before, Eileen had long since grown accustomed to Ian, but hadn't Ian also long since grown accustomed to Eileen? In this terrible world, how fortunate they are to have each other's company...

If one day Eileen really does die, Ian thinks he might be able to open his heart and set the city ablaze, burning everything in sight to the ground.
