Chapter 50
Meddling in Others' Business
Chapter 50 Meddling in Others' Business
Ian had originally planned to use the time before class to preview the textbook in the common room.
Since he had just eaten dinner before transmigrating, he wasn't hungry at all. He wasn't in a hurry to go to the auditorium for breakfast, so he took advantage of the hour or so to review what he would be learning in today's spell class.
To be honest, Professor Flitwick was a little disappointed in Ian because of his brilliant performance in Transfiguration.
Of course, Ian knew that the adorable little old man was just sulking with Professor McGonagall.
Ravenclaw students, however, excelled in the Gryffindor headmaster's class, which made him somewhat embarrassed.
However, Ian's subsequent brilliant performance in his office, like that of a true symphony orchestra conductor, was a series of smooth and captivating spells.
This made Professor Flitwick realize that Ian hadn't been slacking off in Charms class; in fact, his efforts in Charms far exceeded those in Transfiguration, and he once again showed Ian great favor.
……
At this moment, Ian walked out of his dormitory, through the deserted corridor, and across the spiral staircase to the common room, only to find that the common room was not empty at this time.
A small boy was curled up on the large sofa next to the fireplace, fast asleep.
The other person is a freshman this year. Ian had seen the other person's appearance from afar when he audited a freshman's class. Although they had never spoken, they were not strangers.
Ian didn't know why the other person was sleeping here so early in the morning, so out of curiosity, he took a few steps forward and got closer.
Although the boy was asleep, his pale face, slightly swollen eyes, and tear stains on his face indicated that he had been crying for a long time.
"Hey!"
Ian reached out and gently patted the boy's shoulder, and the boy groggily opened his eyes.
"Why are you sleeping here? Did you sleepwalk out in the middle of the night?" Ian asked jokingly.
"I..." Tears welled up in the boy's eyes immediately, and his voice trembled with sobs as he said, "I've been sleeping here since last night..."
Ian frowned and asked him, "What happened?"
The boy said timidly, "They...they won't let me into the dorm!"
Ian frowned even more now. He couldn't understand how something like this could happen to Ravenclaw.
Although school bullying is something Ian hates to see the most, to be honest, if it were at the beginning of the school year, Ian wouldn't have bothered to get involved, let alone even glance at it. After all, he was in dire straits himself back then.
It was only after his magic awakened a second time, leading to an increase in his strength and ensuring his safety, that his mindset underwent a significant change. He went from being hesitant and cautious to being easygoing, calm, and composed.
This is the confidence that comes with great strength. Now, looking at the entire Hogwarts, apart from Headmaster Dumbledore, even the four heads of the House of Lords, Ian is confident that he can go toe-to-toe with them.
Although the result is definitely a loss, at least we have the right to go up and compete, so the loss won't be too humiliating.
Therefore, now that he has witnessed this situation, he intends to inquire about the matter.
"Okay, so what's your name? I'm Ian Titus, a third-year student," Ian asked, sitting on the sofa next to him.
"Kerry," the boy said, sniffing, "Kerry Trollope."
"Hello, Mr. Titus, I know you," Carey said softly.
Ian wasn't interested in the reasons for the conflict among the freshmen; he asked directly:
"Kerry, you're not allowed in the dorms, so why don't you ask the prefects for help? You should at least know two prefects, the two who led us back to the common room after the opening banquet, the male and female prefects of the fifth year."
After a brief pause, Ian said, somewhat exasperated, "Don't you know the basics like asking the prefect if you have a problem?"
Carey mumbled again in a low voice, "Yes, I know, but Miss Taylor and Mr. Cooper... they both hate me... I don't dare go to the other prefects..."
"Taylor and Cooper? They hate you?"
This is where things get interesting. Imagine, a freshman who has only been in school for a few months, how could you possibly offend two prefects from your own college? And both of them are sixth-year prefects at that. This immediately piqued Ian's curiosity.
"Can you tell me what happened? Or what did you do that made your roommate and the two prefects... well, so unfriendly to you?"
"I didn't, I didn't do it, they don't believe me." Carey's voice suddenly became sharp.
"Stop!!! Calm down."
Ian was also a little confused by the other party's actions and quickly spoke up to stop them.
Perhaps noticing Ian's cold expression, Carey instantly became flustered and apologized, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Mr. Titus, but... I really didn't do it..."
In fact, Ian himself didn't realize that after his second awakening of magic, his aura was now incredibly powerful. If one had to find a word to describe it, it would probably be the so-called bloodline suppression.
For example, even if Dumbledore sat there empty-handed and smiling, probably few adult wizards would dare to raise their wands and point them at him. This is not something that reputation can bring; it is the suppressive force formed by a real qualitative change in magic.
Similarly, the same applies to Voldemort. The fear and unease felt by those fence-sitters like Malfoy when they saw Voldemort was partly due to their fear of his power, but more so because they were overwhelmed by his brutal and evil magic.
"So, what exactly happened?" Ian asked the boy in front of him.
