Chapter 57
Quidditch
Chapter 57 Quidditch
"It seems I need to spend more time with Snape, keep up with their research, check the latest developments, and see if I can get my hands on some samples to test the effects."
As Ian pondered this, he organized the documents in his hand and neatly placed them on Snape's desk. Since Snape wouldn't be back anytime soon, and Ian had nothing else to do, he prepared to leave.
After carefully closing the office door, Ian went straight back to his dormitory. He didn't intend to place all his hopes on others. Although he had high expectations for the research on the dragon farm, his own research could not be put on hold.
……
Four days passed in the blink of an eye.
Saturday morning was a rare sunny day, with not a cloud in the sky. Andre got up early that morning, and didn't forget to wake up Ivy and Ian, who were fast asleep.
"What is it, Andrei?"
Ian leaned against the headboard, unwilling to move. Snape's research was progressing well, and seeing hope, he had been frantically absorbing knowledge. The intense studying of the past two days had left him somewhat exhausted.
At this moment, Andre had changed into a full Quidditch uniform and protective gear, and was carrying his flying broomstick.
"Get up quickly, come with me to the stadium and see if Ravenclaw has any decent newcomers this year," Andre said enthusiastically to his two roommates.
"Please... what time is it? Isn't it supposed to start at 9 a.m.?" Ivy asked somewhat indistinctly, her eyes half-closed.
Upon hearing this, Andrei immediately replied, "Bruce made the decision last night. He felt it was necessary to allocate more time for training the newly selected players, so he set it for 7 a.m.
"Come on, guys, we're all Ravenclaws, and I think you all need to have a deep understanding of your own college's team." Andre's voice grew louder and louder as he finished speaking.
Seemingly hurt by his illogical words, Ivy grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.
"We're not going!!!"
……
Unable to resist Andre's persistent pleading, Ian and his group eventually arrived at the Quidditch pitch.
"Merlin, I never expected Andre to be so annoying, so persistent. He's murdering our sleep."
Ivy leaned against the seat next to him, her eyes vacant, munching on her sandwich while constantly complaining.
Ian simply ate his breakfast bread quietly, without responding much to Ivy's words.
But Ivy didn't seem to mind, and seemed quite happy talking to someone like that.
……
It seems to be human nature that anyone with a bit of power seems to enjoy giving an opening speech; the feeling of being the center of attention is truly captivating.
On the pitch, Bruce, the captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, was the same.
He spoke at length for nearly five minutes in what he considered a passionate and inspiring tone, until the people around him began to show signs of impatience, at which point he reluctantly stopped.
Ian was already unfamiliar with Quidditch, let alone a recruitment event without commentary, which made him even more bored. He was leaning back in his chair, squinting, and chatting idly with Ivy.
But the atmosphere didn't last long before it was broken by a slightly excited voice.
"Hey guys, did you just see that? The most anticipated Quidditch star of the year has emerged, Cho Chang from the second year. Merlin, she was so cool flying on her broom! Maybe she'll become the backup Seeker right away."
At some point, Andrei appeared beside them, speaking to Ian and Ivy in a slightly exaggerated and expressive manner.
"Is this the end?"
Upon hearing the other person's words, Ian instantly regained his senses and asked a question.
"Dude, come on, did you forget your eyes in the library? This is just the end of the Seeker selection process."
Sure enough, with the other party's reminder, Ian noticed that the flight of the ball on the field was still in full swing, and the crowd of onlookers showed no sign of leaving.
"Sorry, I was just spacing out." Ian shrugged, indicating that he hadn't noticed.
Andre, who understood Ian's personality, was used to this.
Perhaps his mission was accomplished, for Andrei was now sitting in the stands with his two roommates, also serving as their commentator.
Andrei, who was already a bit talkative, became even more incessant in his comments on the newcomers who came to participate in the academy team's assessment.
"That kid Nock got worse grades than Ivy in his first-year flight class, and he actually has the nerve to participate in the selection this year? Look at his astonishing flight speed, it's not even as fast as an old woodcock..."
"Heh! Thanks for the explanation, Andre. But I hope you won't mention me next time you comment on other people," Ivy said to Andre, somewhat speechless.
"Hey buddy, don't be so stingy. I was just saying you fly better than him... Wow, look! That was a beautiful, quick dodge. Cho Chang is really cool, isn't he? If you ask me, Bruce should have made her the Seeker this year. Anyway, our current Seeker hasn't been performing very well in previous games..."
Following Andre's guidance, Ian also noticed this Asian girl, the girl Harry Potter had a crush on in the original books.
Unlike the actress's appearance in the original novel, the real-life Zhang Qiu is a girl with a looks score of over 80 out of 100, according to Ian. If it weren't for her young age and the fact that many parts of her body haven't fully developed, this score would be even higher.
Before Ian could say anything, Ivy interrupted, "That's enough, Andre."
Ivy said with a hint of helplessness, "I've already explained enough, although the most useful sentence reminded me of a little-known fact from the Encyclopedia Britannica I read when I was a child."
"The Encyclopædia Britannica? You mean that 'slowest flying bird in the world, the woodcock'? Aren't you a pureblood? Why are you reading Muggle books?" Sure enough, the free-spirited Andrei was immediately drawn to the new topic.
Ivy covered her forehead with her hand, looked at the shocked Andre, and said with even more helplessness, "Please, what do you think I should do? Read those centuries-old tomes every day? If purebloods were like this, we probably wouldn't exist anymore."
"Look over there, there's a new development. Slytherin's team has arrived too."
Ian didn't participate in the conversation, so he noticed the changes on the court early on and told his two roommates.
Upon hearing this, Andre and Ivy looked over and, sure enough, a group of Slytherin Quidditch players wearing green robes were slowly walking onto the pitch carrying brooms.
Following behind them was another large group of Slytherin students; it was obvious that they were also recruiting new members for their team today.
