Chapter 32
A Peaceful Life
Chapter 32 A Peaceful Life
Time passed by steadily, day by day.
During this time, in addition to completely building the wooden fence, Ian also built a reservoir, divided up vegetable gardens, and installed solar panels on the roof.
Many tedious things become exceptionally convenient with the help of magic.
It's worth mentioning that, after his last conversation with Eileen, Ian used magic to till all the land in the vegetable garden the very next day, leaving her with all the work of planting, watering, and maintaining it.
He himself, besides cooking on time every day, would lean against the doorway, basking in the sun and reading.
Occasionally, when the mood strikes, he rides his flying broomstick and searches the city for all sorts of things he finds interesting.
What Ian saw and heard during that time confirmed one thing for him: the city was most likely "dead," with no survivors, and he and Eileen might be the last humans left in the city.
He even talked to the other person about it, but just thinking about that calm and collected face and that always-same tone of voice gave him a toothache.
It seemed that nothing could capture her attention; even when Ian demonstrated flying on a broomstick in front of her, he only received a few extra glances.
……
A peaceful life is always monotonous, with each day repeating the same things as yesterday. But for Eileen, this ordinary and stable life is the most precious thing in the world.
There's no need to worry about safety, no need to calculate supplies, and there's an endless supply of water for washing and cleaning. Most importantly, there are people to keep you company.
Even though he was away most of the time, he would still come back on time in the evening. Sometimes she thought that if this disaster had not happened, her life after marriage would probably have been like this.
But she would always inadvertently recall the other person saying that he would live alone, and the thought of it would make her feel wronged.
So she doesn't know when it started, but she's been secretly competing with the other person. In fact, she knows very well how childish her behavior is.
But she just wanted to do it, like a little girl, secretly happy every time she saw the other person's bewildered and speechless expression.
Looking at the potatoes she had planted that had begun to sprout, she felt a genuine sense of accomplishment.
……
Meanwhile, Ian was still slumped against the wall, engrossed in studying the book "Ancient Magic - Analysis of the Guardian Charm".
After his second awakening of magic, he placed even greater emphasis on cultivating his mind.
Therefore, I have a great interest in the ancient spell of the Guardian Angel, after all, it is one of the few spells that can be cast simply by emotional expression.
Patronus
A large amount of misty silver light gushed from the tip of the wand, but it still did not take shape.
"I feel like something's missing. The quantity of emotions is enough, but the quality hasn't been elevated. Simply accumulating happiness isn't enough to forge a complete guardian spirit; what's lacking now is a core focus. I'll stop thinking about it and let things take their course..."
As Ian looked at his wand, he pondered the reasons for his failure.
Although he had figured out the problem, he had no idea how to solve it.
This is similar to enlightenment in a past life; if you understand, you understand; if you don't understand, you don't understand.
Moreover, everyone's mind is different, so there is no such thing as blindly copying or learning.
Compared to his failure with the Guardian Charm, his learning of the Standard Spells went much more smoothly, and now he can basically use most spells below the fifth grade.
……
I glanced at the hourglass in my mind; there were 75 hours left in the countdown, just over three days.
Ian felt that it was necessary to develop a study plan over the next month before returning to Hogwarts.
Previously, in order to quickly gain the ability to protect himself, he blindly pursued the release and power of spells, without carefully studying the principles and commonalities behind each spell.
Previously, he could only be considered a magic technician apprentice at best, but now he needs to transform into an engineer apprentice.
He believed that with Dumbledore's support and the backing of the Hogwarts Library, steeped in a thousand years of history, they had such unparalleled advantages. If they didn't cherish their time to study the true essence of magic, they would be wasting their lives.
Three days passed in a flash. During this time, Ian emptied all the food out of his backpack and piled it up in the basement for easy storage.
He didn't say anything to Eileen intentionally, since time flows differently; it was only a second, and she wouldn't notice Ian's departure.
