Chapter 12

: Ex-wife Becomes Lover?

Yu Heng and Bai Xinran parted ways at the entrance of the cafeteria.

I'm thinking of just going to get the house sorted out this afternoon.

The Tangcheng University Town area is reclaimed land. It was deserted a few years ago, but it has become more lively in the last two or three years since the university moved here.

There's a new residential area right across from the school, with several rows of small villas inside.

The real estate market is booming right now, but most of the houses here are bought for investment purposes, and not many people actually live in them, so the rent isn't expensive.

A small two-story house with four bedrooms and two living rooms costs three to five thousand a month, depending on the type of decoration.

Yu Heng didn't use an agency; even agencies weren't too keen on coming to this area.

He bought a pack of cigarettes from the neighborhood supermarket and went directly to the property management office.

Pushing open the door, I saw a middle-aged man sitting in front of his computer, idling around.

"Master, I need to ask you something." Yu Heng knocked on the door frame.

The man looked up, his phone screen still lit: "What's up?"

Are there any apartments for rent in this neighborhood? I'd like to rent one.

"Renting a place?" The man looked him up and down. "A student?"

"Yeah, I'm from Tangcheng Institute of Technology." Yu Heng handed him a cigarette. "I'm looking to rent a quiet place to study."

The man took the cigarette, his attitude softening slightly: "Studying? That's bullshit. Are you thinking of moving in with your girlfriend?"

Yu Heng grinned: "As long as you understand."

"These young people nowadays..." The man pulled a notebook from a drawer. "There are a few apartments we mentioned wanting to rent out, and we asked the property management to keep an eye out for them. What kind are you looking for?"

"Do you have those two-story villas? The nicely decorated ones."

"Yes, there is..." the man flipped through his notebook, "It's three or four thousand a month, are you sure?"

"Okay, could you please contact the landlord and let me check out the apartment?"

"Okay." The man picked up his phone. "I'll ask around for you. Are you available to view the apartment now?"

Yes, right now.

The man made a phone call, said a few "uh-huhs," and hung up, saying, "Let's go, I'll take you to see it. The landlord said it's four thousand a month."

Yu Heng followed him into the residential area. Four thousand yuan is not bad.

This place is close to the school, making it convenient for Bai Xinran to travel back and forth, and he also plans to live here.

Having graduated for so many years, it's really hard for him to get used to living in a group like this now.

When we arrived, the landlady was already waiting at the door; she was a woman in her forties.

"You're the only one looking to rent a place?" The older woman sized up Yu Heng.

"Yes, let me take a look first."

The older sister opened the door. The house was indeed quite new and fully furnished, but it felt lifeless.

"We've never lived in this house since we bought it," the older woman said. "Look at the renovations, it's all newly done."

Yu Heng looked around and found a large master bedroom on the second floor with an ensuite bathroom, and the other rooms were also quite spacious.

Most importantly, the large floor-to-ceiling window in the master bedroom perfectly suited his taste.

"Can you make it cheaper?" Yu Heng asked.

"This is expensive?" the older woman frowned. "Look at the decor, the location..."

"Three thousand five hundred," Yu Heng said. "I'll sign a one-year contract, with a deposit of one month's rent and three months' rent paid in advance."

The older woman hesitated for a moment: "Three thousand eight, that's the lowest I can go."

"Okay, three thousand eight hundred it is." Yu Heng took out his phone. "Can we sign the contract now?"

"So urgent?" The older sister was taken aback.

Yu Heng grinned: "I need it urgently."

After signing the contract, paying the money, and seeing off the landlord and agent, I was done.

Heng was the only one left in the room.

He sent Bai Xinran a WeChat message: "The house is all sorted out. I'll bring you to see it tomorrow."

Bai Xinran replied instantly: "So fast???"

Yu Heng: "Dude, you're efficient."

Bai Xinran: "How much did you rent it for?"

Yu Heng: "Three thousand eight hundred, a two-story villa."

Bai Xinran sent a string of exclamation marks: "(ΩДΩ) The boss is so generous!!!!"

Yu Heng smiled and turned off his phone.

There's a large supermarket on the commercial street in the university town, and Yu Heng plans to go there to do some shopping and buy some daily necessities so he can stay at the villa for the next couple of days.

Yu Heng arrived at the supermarket, pushed a shopping cart, and threw in daily necessities such as toothpaste and towels.

He saw He Mengyao pushing a shopping cart forward from afar.

He could tell it was her just by looking at her back.

He knew this body all too well; it had been the source of countless nights of pleasure beneath him.

Yu Heng knows her body better than she does herself.

She wore a light gray knit sweater and high-waisted jeans today.

Moreover, she is 1.7 meters tall, making her very conspicuous in a crowd.

However, the way she walks looks a bit awkward.

She looks like she's on her period, and it's only the first day.

He remembered clearly that He Mengyao had particularly severe menstrual cramps for the first two days.

Sure enough, she squatted down after taking only a couple of steps, resting her forehead on the shopping cart handle.

As if guided by some unseen force, Yu Heng walked over.

He took her usual brand of sanitary napkins from the shelf and put them in the shopping cart: "Didn't you take ibuprofen?"

"I ate, I just ate, I haven't done anything yet." He Mengyao answered instinctively, but then looked up and froze. "Who are you?"

This person looks familiar...

During the last military training, someone asked for his WeChat, and I think he was standing right next to me.

"My name is Yu Heng, we went to the same school." He looked at her pale face. "Are you still able to walk?"

He Mengyao tried to stand up, but her legs gave way and she sat back down: "I just need to rest for a bit..."

Yu Heng frowned. This woman's menstrual cramps were so bad that she could roll around in bed: "Can you even get home by yourself like this? Shall I take you home?"

He Mengyao shook her head: "No need."

"Then call your roommate and ask them to pick you up," Yu Heng said. "Is there anything else you need to buy? I'll go get it for you."

"It's nothing much," He Mengyao said, her voice a little weak, "just buying some tissues and shower gel..."

"You call your roommate here, I'll go get my things," Yu Heng said, pushing his cart toward the living area.

I took the items she mentioned, all of which were brands she frequently used.

When she returned to her original spot, He Mengyao was still squatting there making a phone call: "Um... it's in the daily necessities section... okay..."

Yu Heng put the items into her shopping cart: "All done."

He Mengyao hung up the phone, glanced at the things in the cart, and paused for a moment.

How did he know I use these brands?

"When is your roommate coming?" Yu Heng asked.

"She said ten minutes." He Mengyao was still staring at him. "Have we met somewhere before?"

"During military training, my friend asked for your WeChat, and I was right next to her," Yu Heng changed the subject. "Do you often have such severe menstrual cramps?"

"Hmm..." He Mengyao didn't ask any more questions, pressing her hand on her stomach, "I feel like I'm going to die every month."

Yu Heng recalled how, in her past life, whenever she had menstrual cramps, she would whine and groan as she came to his side, saying, "Honey, rub it for me!"

Seeing her looking so pitiful now, I feel a little bad.

Even though they are divorced, their relationship spanned so many years.

To be frank, they got divorced because they couldn't live together anymore, but their relationship wasn't completely broken.

"Drink more hot water," he said dryly.

He Mengyao rolled her eyes at him: "Straight man's opinion."

Yu Heng chuckled; his expression of disdain was exactly the same as before.

He Mengyao is quite charming in terms of personality and appearance, but she is not suited for a life together. Perhaps she should never have been made a housewife in the first place, as her personality is not suited for it.

"Which department are you in?" He Mengyao asked.

"The internet and new media," Yu Heng replied.

"Oh... I'm in the dance department," He Mengyao said.

"I know……"

The two fell silent for a moment.

Looking at her pale face, Yu Heng couldn't help but say, "Why don't you sit in the stroller? Standing is even more uncomfortable."

"No need..." He Mengyao swayed as soon as she finished speaking.

Yu Heng clicked his tongue: "Don't be stubborn."

He Mengyao slowly leaned against the stroller: "I'll lean for a bit..."

"Is your roommate reliable?" Yu Heng asked. "Don't let him stand you up."

"She'll be there soon." He Mengyao glanced at her phone. "Thank you for today."

"It's nothing, would you like something hot?" He pointed to the bubble tea shop next door. "It's on me."

He Mengyao shook her head: "I'm in pain right now, I can't drink it."

Just then, a short-haired girl ran over: "Yaoyao! Are you alright?"

"It's alright..." He Mengyao straightened up. "This is my roommate, Lin Wei."

Lin Wei glanced at Yu Heng: "And who is this?"

"Yu Heng, a classmate I just happened to run into," He Mengyao explained. "He bought something for me."

Lin Wei glanced at the cart, smiled, and said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Yu Heng handed the cart to Lin Wei. "Take care, I'll be going now."

"Wait a minute," He Mengyao called out to him, "Can we add each other on WeChat? I'll treat you to milk tea later."

Yu Heng paused for a moment, then took out his phone: "Okay."

After adding each other on WeChat, Yu Heng turned and walked towards the cashier.

I wondered to myself if this was history repeating itself?

Not really. Although they still got involved, this time he could influence the direction of their relationship.

What kind of relationship will we have this time?

They definitely can't be a couple.

Would He Mengyao be more suitable as a mistress than a wife?

There are still some romantic elements, even though the daily grind of marriage has diminished the romance.

But we can nurture it properly over this lifetime.

As a dance student, her figure and flexibility are both very nice.
