Chapter 16
examines the mortise and tenon structure.
Yu Heng had already taken a shower during the day and didn't plan to shower again, so he turned off the lights and fell asleep immediately.
He did want to take a look at the view from the bathroom, but it seemed a bit too lewd, didn't it?
Let's forget about it. Even a gentleman who is attracted to beauty has a proper way of acquiring it!
The next morning around 7 a.m., Yu Heng was awakened by noises from the kitchen.
He rubbed his eyes and went outside, where he saw Bai Xinran frying eggs.
"Up so early?" Yu Heng yawned.
"I'm used to it," Bai Xinran said without turning her head. "I bought groceries after my morning run."
Yu Heng leaned closer to examine the frying pan: "Not bad."
"Of course," Bai Xinran said proudly, raising her chin. "My mom said that even if I can't get married in the future, I can still open a restaurant."
Yu Heng chuckled: "Then why don't you marry me first and see?"
Bai Xinran threw down the spatula and yelled, "Get out!"
Yu Heng raised his hands in surrender: "Just kidding."
He leaned against the kitchen doorway watching her busy herself. It would be great if she really moved in.
Someone even cooked for us.
Bai Xinran plated the fried eggs: "After I finish eating, I'll go to my dorm to get my things, and I'll come back to do a live stream this afternoon."
Yu Heng nodded: "Do you need help moving?"
"No need, it's just a few clothes." Bai Xinran sat down to eat. "By the way, should I transfer the proceeds from today's gifts to you?"
Yu Heng waved his hand: "Let's settle it at the end of the month, no rush."
Bai Xinran stuffed the last bite of fried egg into her mouth, then stood up to clear the plates.
"Let's go, be back before the live stream tonight." Bai Xinran put the plate in the sink, shook the water droplets off her hands, grabbed her backpack and walked towards the door.
Yu Heng pursed his lips, watching her energetic and impulsive manner, then walked to the sofa and slumped down.
He took out his phone and saw a new message on WeChat from He Mengyao: "See you at the bubble tea shop at 3 pm?"
Yu Heng replied, "Okay, I'll be there on time."
Yu Heng got up, changed his clothes, and seeing that it was still early, decided to go to the supermarket to buy some groceries to stock up.
If Bai Xinran really moves here, she can't eat takeout every day.
After carrying a bag of vegetables, meat, and eggs from the supermarket and having a quick lunch, Yu Heng strolled towards the school's milk tea shop.
He pushed open the door of the milk tea shop, and He Mengyao was already sitting in a corner booth.
"You're right on time." Yu Heng sat down opposite her.
He Mengyao was wearing an autumn/winter practice outfit today, her hair loosely tied back: "I just arrived, what would you like to drink?"
"A fruit tea, anything's fine." Yu Heng looked her over. "You look good today. Is your stomachache gone?"
"I feel much better," He Mengyao smiled. "Thank you so much for that day."
She got up to order, her skirt swaying as she walked, her hips swaying with the supple grace unique to dancers.
Yu Heng stared at that slender waist. With that figure, she was a dance student. She could definitely make money if she did a live stream.
Once we're more familiar with each other, I'll definitely have to trick her into coming over to test the waters.
In his past life, he had advised her that she could teach dance via live stream, but she insisted that she didn't have time.
He Mengyao returned with two cups of milk tea and pushed one of them in front of him: "Here you go."
"Thanks." Yu Heng took a sip of his drink. "Do you dance students have a lot of classes?"
"It's alright, I'm majoring in popular dance, so I don't have too many classes." He Mengyao took a small sip of her milk tea. "What about you? I heard your major is pretty relaxed."
"Nothing much," Yu Heng shrugged, "that's why I have time to rent a place outside."
He Mengyao blinked: "Living alone?"
"That's how it is right now," Yu Heng grinned, "What, want to come and visit?"
"Don't give me that," He Mengyao rolled her eyes at him.
"The neighborhood across from the school," Yu Heng said without specifying the exact location, "come visit sometime."
He Mengyao didn't reply, and instead looked down at the tapioca pearls in her milk tea.
Yu Heng deliberately moved closer: "What, afraid I'll eat you up?"
"Who's afraid?" He Mengyao looked up and glared at him. "I just think you're being a bit too direct."
"Isn't being direct better?" Yu Heng leaned back. "It's better than beating around the bush."
He Mengyao chuckled: "That's true."
"And I've already been very restrained," Yu Heng smiled. "You could have been even more direct."
"What do you mean by 'more direct'?" He Mengyao raised an eyebrow.
"How about we study mortise and tenon joints together tonight?"
"Mortise and tenon joint?" He Mengyao narrowed her eyes. "Tsk! You're being a scoundrel!"
"Haha, just kidding, just kidding." Yu Heng took a sip of milk tea, thinking to himself, "After we got together, you've become even better at telling dirty jokes than I have."
The two chatted for a while longer. Yu Heng glanced at his phone; it was almost four o'clock.
"I have to go back now," he stood up. "I have some things to do tonight, let's meet again next time."
He Mengyao also stood up: "Okay, bye-bye."
He waved and went out the door.
Back at the villa, Bai Xinran was already back, sitting on the living room floor tidying up.
She changed into a loose T-shirt with the neckline askew, revealing half of her collarbone, and wore hot pants.
Two long legs were crossed, and the knees were covered in dust.
"You're all moved out already?" Yu Heng kicked off his shoes and walked over.
"It's just one suitcase, how slow can it be?" Bai Xinran said without looking up, her T-shirt collar drooping as she bent down to take clothes out of the suitcase.
He discovered that Bai Xinran was quite talented!
Yu Heng was staring intently at Bai Xinran's neckline when she suddenly looked up: "What are you looking at?"
"The print on your clothes is quite unique," Yu Heng said nonchalantly, sitting down on the carpet next to her. "Need any help?"
"No need, I'm almost done tidying up." She turned her head and saw Yu Heng still staring at her. "Boss, you're looking at me like you're about to strip me naked."
Yu Heng grinned: "Really? Then why don't you be a little more self-aware?"
"Boss! Using underhanded tactics is wrong!"
Yu Heng was amused by Bai Xinran's remark and grinned, "Unspoken rules? I'm openly observing, okay? Besides, how can employees voluntarily give their boss benefits be called unspoken rules?"
"Benefits my foot!" Bai Xinran threw the neatly folded clothes into the box. "If you keep looking, you'll be charged—one hundred per glance!"
"So expensive?" Yu Heng feigned surprise and leaned back. "How much do I owe you now? How about I pay you back with my body?"
"Hey!" Bai Xinran closed her suitcase, stood up, and dusted off her pants. "I'm going back to my room! I have a live stream tonight."
Yu Heng watched her carry her suitcase into the guest room, slumped on the sofa, took out his phone, and sent a message to his advisor.
"Advisor, how can we apply for off-campus accommodation at our school?"
After waiting for a while without receiving a reply, Yu Heng opened Bilibili and browsed some videos.
Bai Xinran came out of the house, changed into her pajamas, and asked, "Boss, what's for dinner?"
"Order takeout or cook yourself?" Yu Heng glanced at the refrigerator. "It's well-stocked; I just bought it during the day."
"Then let's make it ourselves! What do you want to eat? I'll make it."
"Whatever, I'm not picky! I'll eat whatever you make!"
