Chapter 94

The New Chair

Bai Xinran ate in small bites, her head always down.

Yu Heng sat opposite her, and she secretly glanced at him.

He was looking out the window, lost in thought.

"What are you looking at?" Yu Heng suddenly turned his head.

Bai Xinran quickly lowered her head and shoveled a mouthful of rice into her mouth: "I wasn't looking at anything."

Bai Xinran didn't say anything and continued eating with her head down.

"Have you drawn the design sketches yet?" Yu Heng changed the subject.

"I've drawn a rough sketch," Bai Xinran put down her chopsticks, "but the details might need some refinement."

"Send it to me." Yu Heng took out his phone.

Bai Xinran sent the sketches saved on her phone.

Yu Heng opened it and squinted at it for a while.

"Okay," he nodded. "Let's continue drawing this afternoon. Once I'm done, I'll have someone model it."

"Thank you," Bai Xinran said softly.

"The task was completed well, so it deserves a reward."

He paused, then looked at Bai Xinran: "Is it still airing this afternoon?"

"Broadcast," Bai Xinran nodded, "at four o'clock sharp."

"What were the reactions of the captain and the fans?" Yu Heng asked.

He got carried away yesterday and told her to do that in the live stream. I hope it doesn't really affect the live stream; otherwise, it would be a case of losing more than you gain.

"The reaction..." Bai Xinran said thoughtfully, "It's alright? Yesterday's live stream revenue was about the same as before, more than 30,000, with more than a dozen new captains, and even after the live stream ended, many more people joined the ship, saying they came because of its reputation."

Yu Heng nodded after hearing the data Bai Xinran presented.

It's alright, we didn't mess it up.

He got up and started clearing the dishes, and Bai Xinran also stood up to help.

"Sit down," Yu Heng said. "Are you feeling better?"

Bai Xinran paused, then sat back down.

She watched as Yu Heng stacked the plates and carried them into the kitchen.

My legs are indeed a bit weak; they were even shaking a little while I was eating.

But she didn't dare say it, afraid that Yu Heng would think she was being spoiled.

When Yu Heng finished washing the dishes and came out, Bai Xinran was still sitting there in a daze.

"What are you thinking about?" Yu Heng sat down opposite her.

"No," Bai Xinran snapped out of her thoughts, "I was just thinking... what to broadcast on the live stream this afternoon."

"Still broadcasting talk shows?" Yu Heng asked.

"Hmm," Bai Xinran nodded, "Playing games is fine too, it depends on how I feel."

In her current state, she'd probably have a hard time playing games; her reaction time would definitely be a beat slower.

"It doesn't matter what you broadcast. After last night's episode, even if we cancel today's broadcast, it won't make much of a difference," Yu Heng picked up his phone and glanced at the time. "It's almost two o'clock. Go back to your room and rest for a while."

"Okay." Bai Xinran stood up, her steps still a little unsteady.

Yu Heng watched her retreating figure as she went upstairs, his eyes narrowing slightly.

This girl is becoming more and more obedient.

These past few days, when I talk to him, he's completely different from how he was before.

He leaned back into the sofa and opened WeChat.

Ning Yutong sent me a message, which was a screenshot of Douyin's backend data.

Ning Yutong: "Yu Heng, look! The video has almost 10 likes! And we've almost 1 followers!"

Yu Heng opened the screenshot and looked at it; the data was indeed quite good.

I posted this last night. It's already pretty good for a new account's first video.

He replied, "Great, keep posting, one every three days, we'll continue filming next week."

Ning Yutong replied almost instantly: "Okay! Thank you, Yu Heng~"

Yu Heng didn't reply and exited the chat interface.

Who is the most popular person on Douyin right now?

It's like Daigula K, whose hip-shaking dance went viral, gaining millions of followers in a month.

With Ning Yutong's quality, she could easily gain tens of millions of followers a month, and if she maintained that level of engagement for six months to a year, she would definitely have several million followers.

Just as Yu Heng was thinking, the doorbell rang.

He opened his eyes, glanced at the time, and it was just before two o'clock.

Who would come at this hour?

Yu Heng walked to the door and looked out through the peephole.

Oh, the delivery guy.

The gaming chair I bought for Bai Xinran has arrived.

He glanced at the original one and realized it was indeed unacceptable; it was so dirty it couldn't be washed.

"Yu Heng, right? Please sign for this gaming chair."

Yu Heng took the pen, signed his name, and thanked him.

The deliveryman pushed the box through the door, turned around, and left.

Yu Heng closed the door and dragged the packaging box into the living room.

He dusted off his hands and looked at the large cardboard box on the ground.

The box had a picture of a chair printed on it; it was black and gray and looked quite sturdy.

He crouched down and began to unpack the box.

Bai Xinran heard the noise and shuffled out of the room.

Wearing a T-shirt, her silhouette was clearly visible as she walked and swayed.

She looked down and decided to leave it at that.

Anyway, I've seen everything I needed to see.

Yu Heng had already assembled the new chairs and placed them in the middle of the living room.

The black mesh surface, gray support frame, and adjustment buttons on the armrests.

"Give it a try," Yu Heng said, pointing to the chair.

Bai Xinran walked over and sat down.

The angle of the chair back is just right, and the position of the lumbar support is also suitable.

She leaned back; it was definitely more comfortable than the previous one.

"How is it?" Yu Heng asked.

"It's fine," Bai Xinran said.

"Okay, I'll throw the old one away later," Yu Heng said.

"Mm." Bai Xinran nodded.

"Don't get the new one dirty," Yu Heng smiled. "Otherwise, we'll have to buy a new one."

Bai Xinran blushed, didn't reply, and quickly covered the marks on the chair with her hand. She was only wearing this T-shirt!

"I'll be careful!"

Yu Heng laughed: "Alright, I was just kidding. You can buy it again if it gets dirty."

After he finished speaking, he walked over to the sofa and sat down.

Bai Xinran pushed the chair back to her bedroom.

The living room fell silent.

The quiet didn't last long before the doorbell rang again.

He got up and walked to the door, and through the cat, he saw Qin Ya standing outside.

Yu Heng opened the door: "You're here, come in."

Qin Ya looked up, put her phone back in her pocket, and stepped inside, muttering, "The traffic was a bit congested today; my mom was driving like a snail."

Yu Heng shifted his gaze back and glanced at the car parked by the roadside.

Qin Lu still did not get out of the car.

"You go up first, the equipment is all running," Yu Heng said to Qin Ya, then changed his shoes and walked straight out the door.

Qin Ya blinked at Yu Heng, then glanced at the car with a sly smile on her face.

She closed the door but didn't go upstairs; instead, she leaned out the window and peered outside.

Yu Heng walked to the car, the passenger side window was closed.

He raised his hand and knocked on the driver's side window.

She looked at Yu Heng, but didn't say anything or open the car window.

Yu Heng pointed to the passenger seat and mouthed the words "unlock".

Qin Lu pursed her lips, shook her head, and then reached for the gear shift.

She didn't want to talk to him, at least not right now.

The car began to slowly turn, and she intended to drive away directly.

Yu Heng didn't move aside; instead, he took two steps forward and stood directly in front of the car, blocking its path.

Qin Lu stepped on the brake, and her anger flared up again.

childish!
