Chapter 43

: Getting the Little Loli to Say

The alarm clock rang precisely at seven o'clock the next morning.

Yu Heng reached out from under the covers and fumbled to turn off the alarm clock without even opening his eyes.

The dormitory was filled with snoring. Hao Junran turned over in bed, mumbled something, and fell asleep again.

Yu Heng struggled to sit up and rubbed his face.

I didn't go to bed early yesterday. After having hotpot with Ning Yutong, I chatted with Bai Xinran on WeChat for a while. That girl insisted that she was feeling much better and wanted to do a live stream tomorrow.

He picked up his phone and glanced at it; it was 7:05.

I have no classes this morning.

But he has to go to the villa.

Qin Ya's computer was still on during her live stream yesterday, so I need to go and clean it up.

Moreover, the club recruitment couldn't be delayed any longer; he needed to quickly produce some materials.

Yu Heng quietly climbed out of bed, washed up, changed his clothes, and left the dormitory.

The morning air was cool, and some people were already running on the playground.

He walked to the school gate, bought two steamed buns and a cup of soy milk from a roadside stall, and ate them as he walked towards the villa.

Pushing open the villa door, there was a half-empty bottle of mineral water on the coffee table, and the sofa cushions were askew.

Yu Heng went upstairs to Qin Ya's live broadcast room first.

The computer was indeed still on. Yu Heng tidied up the equipment and went downstairs.

Yu Heng leaned back on the sofa, pondering the recruitment of new members over the weekend.

At least make a poster, right?

At least people need to know what a virtual YouTuber is.

Why don't you bring your laptop and play a recording of Bai Xinran's live stream?

But her costume is too flashy. Would it be inappropriate to display it at school?

He opened Taobao, found a graphic design shop, clearly stated his requirements, and promised to produce the image within 24 hours at the latest.

Just go to the nearby GG company and print a roll-up banner, that's all.

After finishing these tasks, Qin Lu called.

Yu Heng pressed the answer button: "Hello, counselor?"

"Yu Heng," Qin Lu's voice sounded hurried on the other end of the phone, "Are you at the villa right now?"

"I'm here, just got here to pack my things." Yu Heng sat up a little straighter on the sofa. "What's up, advisor? Is something the matter?"

"Well," Qin Lu paused, "something came up at school today, and I'll probably be busy until the afternoon. I was thinking of dropping her off early? She's scheduled to broadcast for a bit longer, isn't she?"

Yu Heng raised an eyebrow: "How early?"

"Can I send it over now?" Qin Lu paused for a moment before asking. "She doesn't have much to do at home and keeps asking to get ready for the live stream early. I'll get it over here before nine o'clock."

It's only a little past eight o'clock.

Yu Heng glanced at the clock on the wall: "Okay, you can bring her over. I'll wait here."

"That's great," Qin Lu visibly relaxed. "I can't stay with her today, I'll pick her up tonight..."

"It's alright," Yu Heng immediately replied, "Don't worry, counselor, Qin Ya won't get lost here. I don't have any classes today anyway, so I can hang out with her for a while after her live stream. You can go ahead and do your work."

There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone.

"Okay, then I'll trouble you," Qin Lu said in a lower voice. "Yu Heng, Qin Ya is a bit stubborn and doesn't know her place. Please bear with her."

"That's not true at all!" Yu Heng said insincerely without changing his expression. "Qin Ya is very sensible. She did very well in yesterday's live stream. Don't worry, I will definitely take good care of her."

Another silence followed.

Yu Heng heard Qin Ya's faint voice calling from the other end of the phone: "Mom! Have you talked to him yet?"

"Okay, okay, almost there," Qin Lu said casually, then turned to Yu Heng and said, "Thank you for your help."

"Okay, I'll be waiting."

Half an hour later, the doorbell rang right on time.

Yu Heng opened the door, and Qin Lu stood outside, dressed in a formal suit, her hair neatly styled, and wearing light makeup. She looked much more serious than usual.

"Is there an important event for you today, counselor?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow.

"There's a meeting in the courtyard," Qin Lu explained simply, stepping aside to let Qin Ya behind her out. "Hurry up and go in, don't dawdle."

Qin Ya was dressed quite normally today, wearing a light gray sweatshirt, jeans, and white sneakers.

She glanced at Yu Heng, said nothing, and went straight into the house.

"Then, Yu Heng, I'll leave Qin Ya to you." Qin Lu glanced at her watch. "I'll pick her up after my meeting this afternoon, around five or six o'clock."

"Okay, you go ahead with your work." Yu Heng nodded.

Qin Lu gave Qin Ya a few more instructions before turning around and leaving in a hurry.

The door closed, leaving only Heng and Qin Ya in the villa.

The living room was quiet for a few seconds.

Qin Ya threw her backpack onto the sofa, plopped down, and pulled out her phone to start scrolling.

Yu Heng walked over to the single sofa opposite her and sat down, crossing his legs: "Have you had breakfast?"

"I ate." Qin Ya said without looking up.

"What did you eat?"

"Jianbing Guozi" (Chinese crepe).

"Oh." Yu Heng nodded. "Alright, let's get ready to go upstairs and do the live stream. Our goal for today is three hours, don't forget."

Qin Ya then looked up, pouting, "I know, you're so nagging."

She stood up, grabbed her backpack, and started walking upstairs. She stopped at the top of the stairs, turned back to look at Yu Heng, and asked, "You're downstairs?"

"Otherwise what?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow, "Go up there and watch the audience roast you?"

"Who got roasted!" Qin Ya glared at him. "I'm the one who roasts others!"

"Yes, yes, you're amazing." Yu Heng waved his hand. "Go on, if you can stream for three hours today, I'll take you to the arcade this afternoon."

"Arcade?" Qin Ya scoffed. "As if everyone's been to an arcade."

Qin Ya snorted and turned to go upstairs.

Yu Heng heard the sound of the door closing upstairs, picked up his phone and glanced at the time.

9:30.

If this girl could really broadcast for three hours, she'd have to broadcast until 12:30.

He opened Taobao and glanced at the chat window of the design shop; the other party had not yet replied.

The images probably won't be ready until this afternoon.

Yu Heng leaned back on the sofa and dozed off.

I didn't wake up until 12:30.

He glanced at the time; it was almost time for Qin Ya to finish her live stream.

I got up, poured myself a glass of water, and waited for her to come down.

A few minutes later, Qin Ya walked downstairs in her slippers, pattering softly.

"Is it over?" Yu Heng asked.

"Mm." Qin Ya walked to the sofa and sat down.

"How's today's data?"

"It's alright," Qin Ya said casually, but with a slight smile on her lips. "We have two new captains today."

Yu Heng raised an eyebrow: "Not bad, you've improved quite quickly."

"Of course." Qin Ya raised her chin. "I told you I learn things quickly."

Looking at her smug expression, Yu Heng suddenly asked, "Is your mother always this busy with work?"

Qin Ya glanced at him: "Why are you asking this?"

"Just asking." Yu Heng shrugged. "She was dressed quite formally today, I thought something important had happened."

"What big deal could it be?" Qin Ya pouted. "It's just a meeting. She's in meetings every day."

"Where's your dad?" Yu Heng asked casually. "Is he busy with work too?"

Qin Ya's expression softened slightly: "Why ask so many questions?"

"Just checking in on my employees' family situations, right?" Yu Heng grinned. "After all, you're one of my anchors now."

"Who's your employee?" Qin Ya muttered softly, but still answered, "My dad doesn't live with my mom anymore, and we only see each other a few times a year."

"Oh." Yu Heng nodded, already knowing this. "So it's just you and your mom usually?"

"Otherwise what?" Qin Ya's tone was a bit sharp. "Are you checking my household registration?"

"Okay, okay, I won't ask anymore." Yu Heng laughed and changed the subject. "Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?"

Qin Ya paused for a moment, then whispered, "Whatever."
