Chapter 56
Qin Ya's Thoughts
Yu Heng had just sat for a while when Qin Ya came out in her slippers and leaned on the second-floor railing to look down.
"Where's my mom?" she called out.
Yu Heng didn't even look up: "I went home to change my clothes."
"Changing clothes?" Qin Ya came down the stairs and sat on the sofa. "What were you two doing?"
Yu Heng then looked up at her and said, "It was because of that scream you made just now. Your mother thought something was wrong with you, and she was so scared that her hand trembled and she spilled the whole cup of coffee on herself."
Qin Ya pouted and muttered softly, "She's so worried about me."
"Otherwise what?" Yu Heng sat up straight and looked at Qin Ya. "Qin Ya, there's something I need to talk to you about."
Qin Ya was taken aback by his serious tone, then pouted, "What's wrong? So serious, are you going to lecture me?"
"Yes," Yu Heng nodded, "Could you please stop talking nonsense in front of your mother in the future?"
Qin Ya blinked, looking completely innocent. "You mean what happened today when I asked you to take pictures under her skirt?"
"Not only that," Yu Heng interrupted her, "but you also can't be disrespectful to me in the future."
Upon hearing this, Qin Ya scoffed, "You don't like being called a coward?"
Yu Heng didn't laugh; his expression remained serious. "I'm telling you this very seriously now. If you keep talking so recklessly, I won't play with you anymore, and don't call me 'brother' anymore."
That's a bit harsh.
Qin Ya's smile froze; she hadn't expected Yu Heng to say that.
She pursed her lips, her eyes darting around, and retorted softly, "You have the desire but not the guts, isn't that just being a coward!"
Yu Heng didn't respond to her words, but just squinted at her, making Qin Ya feel a little uneasy.
She stubbornly tried to retort, but her momentum had already weakened considerably. Finally, she lowered her head and muttered, "Can't I even tell the truth... I was actually trying to help..."
"Help?" Yu Heng was amused by her question. "Help me with what?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Ya looked up at Yu Heng and said, "What do you think? I'm afraid you won't dare."
Yu Heng was genuinely amused this time. He leaned back and sized up the little girl in front of him.
"Fine, Qin Ya," Yu Heng said slowly, "How do you plan to help? By drugging your mother?"
"Drugging is so boring!" Qin Ya curled her lip in disgust, then lowered her voice, "I can cover for you! I can create opportunities for you two! Or... I can help you secretly take some pictures of my mom... Don't you have a camera? Let me tell you, my mom actually does that a lot..."
Yu Heng's eyelids twitched as he listened.
Goodness, this girl really doesn't hold back when it comes to selling out her mother.
He rubbed his temples: "Stop right there. Can't you show some respect to your elders?"
Qin Ya retorted, "So what? Isn't it good that I created opportunities for you?"
Yu Heng was speechless at her retort, looking at her and saying, "I'm married to your mother, what about you? Aren't you just a rice bowl?"
Qin Ya was taken aback by his words, then bit her lip and lifted her clothes: "Here you go! Eat it!"
Yu Heng was taken aback by Qin Ya's sudden action.
The living room is bright enough that you can see very clearly.
This girl...
That's really daring.
His words were meant to be both lecturing and teasing.
Who would have thought she would actually do it?
But where do all the food this girl eats go?
She's really thin, but she's also really lacking in all the right places...
Qin Ya remained in that position, her hands gripping the hem of her clothes, her eyes fixed on him.
Yu Heng didn't move, he just watched her.
Qin Ya's personality, to put it nicely, is bold; to put it bluntly, she's reckless and arrogant, confident that no one will dare to do anything to her.
We need to make her give in.
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, and just looked at her.
Qin Ya pursed her lips into a thin line, her chin still raised, but her eyes had already begun to wander.
She glanced at the stairs, then at the doorway, and finally her gaze returned to Yu Heng's face.
The two remained locked in a stalemate.
"You..." Qin Ya couldn't hold back any longer, "Have you seen enough?"
"No," Yu Heng answered crisply. "Are you tired?"
Upon hearing this, she suddenly seemed deflated, her hand loosened, and the hem of her dress fell down to cover her waist.
Yu Heng also breathed a sigh of relief. He was afraid he would act impulsively if he watched for a while longer.
"I understand." She turned her face away, her voice muffled. "I'll be more careful next time."
Yu Heng smiled and asked, "What should I be careful about?"
Qin Ya turned her head and glared at him: "What else can I be careful about! Okay, I won't talk nonsense in front of you anymore!"
"Anything else?"
"And don't talk nonsense in front of my mom." She bit her lip. "So, do you need my help or not?"
Well, he hasn't given up yet.
Yu Heng found it amusing. Was this girl determined to bring him and her mother together?
I don't know if it's because I really want a "dad".
Or perhaps they simply find it fun and exciting.
"I can help," Yu Heng said slowly, "but not as outrageous as you said. You just need to... keep an eye on your mother for me."
"What do you think?" Qin Ya asked.
"Just tell me what she did all day," Yu Heng said.
"No problem!" Qin Ya agreed readily, "I guarantee I'll complete the mission!"
Just as Qin Ya finished tidying up her clothes, the doorbell rang.
The two exchanged a glance, and Qin Ya quickly shrank back into the corner of the sofa, picked up a cushion, and switched to a harmless appearance.
Yu Heng stood up and went to open the door.
Qin Lu was standing outside the door; she had already changed back into her own clothes.
She was still wearing stockings, but now she had changed to a flesh-colored pair that was closer to her skin tone.
She was carrying a paper bag and handed it to Yu Heng, saying, "I've washed and dried Bai Xinran's clothes."
Yu Heng took the paper bag and stepped aside, saying, "Okay, Qin Ya's live stream just ended. Want to come in and sit for a while?"
"I'm not sitting here anymore," Qin Lu shook her head, her gaze passing over Yu Heng and looking into the living room. "Where's Qin Ya? She should go home."
"Mom!" Qin Ya jumped up from the sofa and ran over. "You're back so soon?"
"How long will it take to change clothes?" Qin Lu glanced at her. "How's the live stream going?"
"That's great!" Qin Ya said excitedly, but when she caught a glimpse of Yu Heng's gaze, she softened her tone. "It'll just be broadcast normally."
Qin Lu nodded and turned to Yu Heng: "Thank you so much for today, for helping me find clothes and taking care of Qin Ya."
"You're too kind, counselor," Yu Heng said with a smile. "Qin Ya is very sensible and takes the live stream very seriously."
Qin Ya, standing to the side, pouted and muttered under her breath, "She's quite the actress..."
Qin Lu didn't hear her clearly: "What did you say?"
"I must say, Brother Yu Heng is such a nice person!" Qin Ya immediately put on a smiling face again.
Yu Heng's lips twitched.
"Then we'll be going now," Qin Lu nodded to Yu Heng, "Take care of yourself during the basketball training this weekend and don't get injured."
"Don't worry, counselor," Yu Heng said as he saw them to the door. "Take care."
Qin Lu smiled and pulled Qin Ya out the door.
Yu Heng closed the door and breathed a sigh of relief; what a day.
