Chapter 98
So this is what it feels like to curse someone!
This night was far too long.
They went to bed at eight o'clock.
It was already past midnight when we finished.
She didn't know why Yu Heng was more excited than last time. After thinking about it, she figured it might be because of the first time when she told him she had taken Yasmin.
"You shouldn't have said I was taking medicine!" Qin Lu said weakly. "This is never going to end."
"You've wronged me," Yu Heng said with a chuckle. "Then you'll be the one taking the initiative."
"I didn't..." Qin Lu turned her face away. "I was just lying down for too long and wanted to sit up for a while."
"Okay, go wash up?" Yu Heng said with a smile, "Then go to sleep, we'll go watch the game tomorrow."
"I'm not going to wash anymore, I'm too lazy to move. I'll just leave it like this and talk about it when I wake up."
"Then I'll turn off the lights."
"Hmm...you better behave..."
-
It's amazing that two people wake up in the same bed.
Yu Heng had to open his eyes because his arm was numb.
Qin Lu slept in his arms, and she was in a different state than before.
At that moment, she was completely unprepared, and her brows relaxed considerably.
Yu Heng just stared at her like that, and after a while, Qin Lu opened her eyes as well.
From this angle, she could see the newly sprouted stubble on Yu Heng's chin, a very light bluish color.
"Awake?" Yu Heng touched the top of her head and rubbed it haphazardly a couple of times.
Like petting a dog.
Qin Lu didn't flinch, but simply looked up at him and asked, "Isn't your arm numb?"
"It's numb." As the arm was pulled away from under her neck, Qin Lu felt a strange emptiness in her heart.
"Get up and eat something?" Yu Heng threw off the covers and got out of bed. As he moved his arms, his joints cracked twice.
He was shirtless, with several scratches on his back, some deep and some shallow.
Qin Lu saw it, looked away, and felt her ears getting hot.
"I caught it?" She looked up at him.
"Otherwise what?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow.
"Does it hurt?" she asked.
"It hurt at the time," Yu Heng smiled, "but I don't feel anything now."
"I'm sorry," she said.
Yu Heng paused for a moment, then laughed out loud: "What's there to apologize for?"
"I'll be more careful next time," Qin Lu said, getting out of bed.
She followed Yu Heng into the bathroom, opened a pack of disposable combs, and began to comb her hair.
Yu Heng stood next to her and unzipped the elastic band of her pajama pants.
He started using the toilet without caring about anyone else.
Qin Lu glanced at them subconsciously, pursed her lips, and realized that they seemed a little too intimate right now.
She had never done this even with Lin Liyan. They had been married for over ten years, and she had never even farted in front of him.
But right now, I don't seem to feel uncomfortable at all.
After Qin Lu finished washing up and came out of the bathroom, she sat back down on the bed. Yu Heng followed her down a while later and said, "The takeout will be here in twenty minutes."
"Going back after watching the game this afternoon?" she asked.
"Otherwise what?" Yu Heng turned to look at her. "You want to stay another night?"
"Who wants to stay here?" Qin Lu turned her face away. "Qin Ya is still at your house."
"Bai Xinran is watching over her, she won't get lost." Yu Heng reached out and put his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. "If you really want to stay, it's not impossible."
"Let go," she said.
"I won't let go." Yu Heng wrapped his other arm around her, completely encircling her.
"How are we supposed to go watch the game this afternoon?"
Just once!
Sigrún has taught at the Iceland University of the Arts as a part-time lecturer since and was Dean of the Department of Fine Art from -. In – she held a research position at Reykjavík Art Museum focusing on the role of women in Icelandic art. She studied fine art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and at Pratt Institute, New York, and holds BA and MA degrees in art history and philosophy from the University of Iceland. Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.
The game started on time at 3:30 pm.
The home stadium of Beijing Guoan was a sea of green; they had bought seats for the away team. Yu Heng held Qin Lu's hand as they sat side by side.
This match isn't really worth watching. Changchun Yatai's strength is no match for Beijing Guoan; they've only won a few times. And since Guoan is playing at home today, a 1-1 draw would be a good result.
Surprisingly, Changchun Yatai opened the scoring in the 40th minute of the first half. A precise cross from the wing allowed the Beijing Guoan defender to get two body lengths out of the way, resulting in an open goal for Yatai.
"Great shot!" Yu Heng shouted. "This defender from Guoan should be playing in the second division; he has absolutely no awareness."
In the first half stoppage time, the Changchun Yatai striker dribbled the ball into the penalty area, creating a rare opportunity.
At this moment, Guoan's defenders made timely cover and kicked the ball away, but Changchun Yatai's striker also fell to the ground.
At this point, everyone looked at the linesman, but the linesman did not raise his flag, and the referee signaled for the game to continue.
As a result, the anger of the Yatai fans was instantly ignited, and a barrage of insults erupted.
"Ma Ning! You idiot!"
"Ma Ning! You idiot!"
"Yatai! Penalty!"
"Yatai! Penalty!"
"Come on, you can vent now!" Yu Heng said, looking at Qin Lu.
"How do I vent?"
"Shout after me, Ma Ning! You idiot!"
Qin Lu looked somewhat embarrassed, probably because her upbringing had prevented her from hearing profanity, let alone hearing it herself.
Looking at her like this, Yu Heng realized she probably couldn't bring herself to curse her.
"Everyone's attention is on the field, nobody's noticing you," Yu Heng leaned closer to comfort her. "It's okay, just yell it out!"
Qin Lu frowned slightly.
"Hurry, hurry, believe in yourself!" Yu Heng urged.
Qin Lu opened her mouth slightly, hesitating.
She glanced at the people around her who were all shouting and cursing loudly, their voices so synchronized it sounded like they had rehearsed it countless times.
Everyone was venting their frustrations, as if they wanted to devour the people on the field alive.
Perhaps feeling somewhat infected, Yu Heng watched as she raised her hand to hold onto the railing in front of her and shouted, "Idiot!"
Indeed, swearing is an indispensable and important part of cultures all over the world.
After Qin Lu finished yelling, she actually felt much better.
A smile crept onto her lips; it turned out that cursing was such a satisfying thing.
The final whistle blew.
The score remained 1-1. Changchun Yatai fans left the stadium cursing, while Beijing Guoan fans were relieved that they hadn't lost at home.
Yu Heng took Qin Lu's hand and moved out with the flow of people.
Her palms were a little damp; she couldn't tell if it was from nervousness or from shouting too loudly.
"How was it?" Yu Heng turned his head to look at her. "Was it good?"
Qin Lu pursed her lips and didn't say anything, but the smile in the corner of her eyes was hard to hide.
Especially when tens of thousands of people in the audience cursed together, the sense of catharsis from being part of the group felt like shouting out something that had been bottled up inside for a long time.
She even joined in the cursing several times in the second half, even though she didn't recognize the referee she was cursing, and she always felt a little sorry for him.
She used to think that it was undignified to speak loudly in public, let alone swear.
But now...
Qin Lu looked down at her hand, which was being held by Yu Heng.
It seems that ever since I met him, I've become less "respectable".
-
When the car drove back to the university town, the streetlights were already on.
Yu Heng held the steering wheel with one hand, while Qin Lu held his other hand.
Her palms were soft, and her fingertips were a little cool.
He took her hand when they arrived, but on the way back, she reached out her hand first.
While waiting at a red light, Yu Heng glanced at her; Qin Lu was looking out the window.
"Are you tired?" Yu Heng asked.
"A little." Qin Lu turned her head and gently ran her fingers across the back of his hand. "My back aches."
"It's my fault," Yu Heng smiled. "I'll be more careful next time."
"You said the same thing last time," Qin Lu said, rolling her eyes at him.
Yu Heng grinned but didn't reply.
Indeed, we went a bit too far last night.
The main thing is that when I heard that she had actually made preparations herself, who could resist that?
He had some reservations before, but her words were basically telling him that he could do whatever he wanted without worry.
