Chapter 29

is quite interesting!

The bathroom door closed, and the sound of running water could be heard from inside.

Yu Heng was about to order takeout when he got up and strolled to the bathroom door.

The sound of water became clearer, mixed with Bai Xinran's off-key humming.

He raised his hand and knocked on the frosted glass door.

"What?!" Bai Xinran's wary voice came through the door.

But the sound of water, coming from behind a door, was indeed somewhat muffled when heard from outside.

"Hey, what do you want for supper?" Yu Heng leaned against the doorframe, speaking lazily. "What do you usually order?"

"casual!"

Yu Heng still couldn't hear clearly; this door is really soundproof!

"What did you say? Speak louder! I can't hear you!" Yu Heng raised his voice.

"I said—whatever—you want—!" Bai Xinran's voice rose, tinged with impatience.

"Whatever, hurry up and give me the menu!" Yu Heng urged her.

There was no sound from inside again.

A few seconds later, the bathroom door was carefully pried open a crack, and warm, humid steam mixed with the fresh scent of shampoo wafted out.

"Don't move! Just stand there! Don't peek!" Bai Xinran's warning voice came from the crack in the door, sounding a bit muffled.

Yu Heng scoffed, "I can't see anything even if I wanted to. Hurry up and tell me what we want to eat?"

Bai Xinran rattled off the menu at lightning speed: "Roasted pork belly, roasted chicken wings, roasted eggplant... and a serving of stir-fried instant noodles, with an egg and ham! Oh, and a bottle of ice-cold Coke too!"

After Bai Xinran finished speaking, she slammed the door shut, and the sound of rushing water came from inside again.

Yu Heng stroked his chin. "I didn't peek, but you opened the door wide the first time, so I saw it openly!"

Wow, that's quite something!

He returned to the sofa, swiping his fingers across the screen, browsing through food delivery apps. "Eating such greasy food so late at night, aren't you afraid of gaining weight?"

Despite saying that, he still ordered barbecue and a serving of stir-fried instant noodles.

Bai Xinran said she wanted to eat this last time.

After ordering takeout, he turned on his computer and created a new document.

"Virtual Anchor Club Project Proposal..." he typed the title.

How should this be written?

He racked his brains, typing away on the keyboard, deleting and revising.

"The club's mission...to cultivate new media talent...to build a platform for practical experience..." he muttered to himself as he wrote, "Why are these words so vague?"

The sound of water in the bathroom stopped.

Bai Xinran came out of the bathroom, drying her hair, and glanced at the screen: "Oh, you're really going at it?"

Bai Xinran sat down next to him, and a fresh shampoo scent wafted over.

Yu Heng glanced at her; her wet, short hair clung to her forehead, and the neckline of her loose pajamas was slightly open.

Water droplets dripped from the ends of her hair onto her collarbone, disappearing into the neckline of her pajamas.

His Adam's apple bobbed, and he looked away.

Damn, this scene is pretty awesome.

"Isn't this written way too officially?" she pointed at the screen. "Promoting interdisciplinary integration?"

"Then how should we write it?" Yu Heng leaned back, rubbing his temples. "We can't exactly write about teaching people how to make money through pornography, can we?"

"Can't you compromise?" Bai Xinran sat down next to him, continuing to dry her hair. "Just say you're helping interested students learn virtual avatar design and live streaming skills, so they can put what they learned in class to use and earn some pocket money."

Yu Heng raised an eyebrow: "So straightforward?"

"Otherwise what?" Bai Xinran shrugged. "What do students care about most? Learning and making money. Who's interested in all that nonsense?"

Yu Heng thought about it and felt it made sense, but...

"Okay, I'll do as you say, but we still need to use some official jargon; the leaders love that." He smiled and said, "So, what's the content of the activity?"

"Isn't that simple?" Bai Xinran counted on her fingers. "Regular training sessions, inviting experienced people to share their knowledge, organizing everyone to work on projects together... Oh, and we could hold a virtual avatar design competition with some small prizes; I'm sure a lot of people would participate."

As Yu Heng listened and took notes, he suddenly realized that this girl was actually quite clever.

"Sure," he said, turning to look at her. "I didn't know you knew about this."

"Nonsense," Bai Xinran said smugly, raising her chin. "I'm going to be the top female streamer on Bilibili, how can I do that without a plan?"

A thought suddenly popped into Yu Heng's mind.

If I made her the vice president of the club, wouldn't that save me a lot of trouble?

The doorbell rang; the takeout had arrived.

Yu Heng got up to get it, and Bai Xinran followed impatiently, saying, "I'm starving!"

The two sat on the living room carpet and opened the takeout box.

"Boss, you're so nice!" Bai Xinran grabbed a skewer of chicken wings and took a bite.

"Come on," Yu Heng said, opening the box of fried instant noodles. "Who was just saying they were going to sue me for workplace sexual harassment?"

"Things change!" Bai Xinran said, her mouth bulging. "That's called being beholden to someone who pays your bills."

Yu Heng was amused by her and handed her a tissue: "Wipe your mouth, you've got food all over it."

Bai Xinran took the tissue, then suddenly remembered something: "Do you think if we really start a club, the school will require us to create wholesome and positive content?"

"Of course," Yu Heng smiled, "but being wholesome and having viewers isn't mutually exclusive. For example, even if you occasionally do suggestive content on your streams, you mainly play games and chat, so it's not against the rules, right?"

"Where did I make any suggestive remarks? I was just interacting normally!" Bai Xinran said.

"You call that not driving?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow. "Your live stream is practically Mount Akina."

"That's for the sake of the show!" Bai Xinran said matter-of-factly. "Besides, I didn't even show my face. What's wrong with the suit making some suggestive remarks?"

Yu Heng shook his head and continued eating his noodles.

"Oh, right!" Bai Xinran suddenly said, "I'm planning to try ASMR next week. It should generate a lot of revenue, and it will definitely attract a new batch of fans."

"ASMR?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you won't shut down the live stream?"

"What are you thinking about!" Bai Xinran glared at him. "It's the kind of sound that's very serious, like the sound of rain or turning pages!"

"That would be best," Yu Heng said with skepticism.

Bai Xinran angrily snatched the mouse and clicked on a video: "Look, this is how it is!"

The video features a virtual anchor simulating various environmental sounds; it's quite serious.

However, Yu Heng felt that judging from the perverts in the live stream, this ASMR would eventually go wrong.

After finishing her late-night snack and cleaning up the trash, Bai Xinran yawned and said, "I'm going back to my dorm to sleep. I have to get up at 8 a.m. tomorrow. Oh no."

"Okay," Yu Heng nodded, "Remember to record the submission video tomorrow."

"Okay—" Bai Xinran said in a drawn-out tone, then went back to her room to change her clothes.

Yu Heng sat alone in the living room, opened his laptop, and began searching for templates for club proposals.

Looking at all those rules and regulations, he felt a bit of a headache.

Writing this kind of stuff was the thing I hated most in my past life.

But for the sake of long-term development, we endured it.

"I'm leaving!" Bai Xinran said, carrying her bag.

"Wait a minute!" Yu Heng closed his notebook and put it in his bag. "I'll go with you!"

The two walked out of the villa one after the other. The night breeze was cool, and Bai Xinran shrank her neck.

"Cold?" Yu Heng glanced at her.

"It's alright," Bai Xinran rubbed her arms, "I just caught a bit of a chill after taking a shower."

Yu Heng took off his coat and handed it to him: "Put this on."

Bai Xinran paused for a moment, then took the coat and put it on: "Thanks, boss."
