Chapter 40
These stockings are really beautiful
"Ning Yutong is talking to you about this?" Yu Heng shoveled a mouthful of rice into his mouth and looked up at Shen Yueling.
Shen Yueling slowly picked up a piece of potato: "What, is that not allowed?"
"Sure, of course." Yu Heng grinned. "Have you two made up?"
"When did our relationship start to sour?" Shen Yueling raised an eyebrow. "Weren't we always getting along fine?"
Not stiff? Okay, I guess that's how it is.
Yu Heng narrowed his eyes. Luckily, he didn't say he was going to act as a peacemaker in front of the two of them, otherwise he would have been in a difficult position.
"Alright, I'm finished eating." Shen Yueling stood up. "Are you busy this afternoon?"
"Hmm," Yu Heng glanced at the time, "Qin Ya is going to be live streaming at two o'clock."
"Qin Ya?" Shen Yueling raised an eyebrow. "Who is she now?"
"Our counselor's daughter," Yu Heng explained simply, "dropped out of school and is now trying out live streaming with me."
Shen Yueling was silent for two seconds, then suddenly laughed: "Your place is practically a shelter."
"What shelter?" Yu Heng retorted, "My place is a talent incubation base."
"Say what you want." Shen Yueling picked up her bag. "I'm leaving. Tonight..."
She paused, not finishing her sentence.
"What about tonight?" Yu Heng pressed.
"It's nothing." Shen Yueling turned and left.
Yu Heng watched her retreating figure; this woman always only said half of what she meant.
After finishing his meal, he strolled back to the villa.
My phone rang as soon as I entered the door.
It's the courier's phone number.
"Hello, your package has arrived and has been left at the station."
"Okay, got it."
The camera has arrived.
Yu Heng glanced at the time; it was 1:30.
There's still time to get it.
He locked the door and walked towards the school's express delivery station.
I ran into a few classmates on the way and nodded to them in greeting.
Upon arriving at the delivery station, I queued up to pick up my package.
The box wasn't big, but it was quite heavy.
Yu Heng carried the box back, already thinking about how to test the machine.
If you were to film Ning Yutong, what would be the first video you film?
Disguise?
Or should we just start dancing?
We need to find a better background.
The living room in the villa has good natural light; it should be fine with the lights on at night.
Or should we go to the school and find a place to take the photos?
Just then, my phone vibrated again.
Ning Yutong messaged me: "How about we have hot pot tonight? I know a new place that just opened, the broth is really delicious!"
Yu Heng typed with one hand: "Okay, you decide."
"Okay! I'll wait for you at the school gate at six o'clock!"
Yu Heng put away his phone and quickened his pace.
We got back to the villa at exactly 5:50.
He put the camera case in the living room, and then the doorbell rang.
The door opened, and Qin Lu stood outside. Today she was wearing a light gray knitted long dress with a khaki trench coat over it.
Her hair was still tied up, revealing her fair neck.
"The counselor is here," Yu Heng said, turning to the side. "Where's Qin Ya?"
"Behind you." Qin Lu stepped aside.
"Come in quickly." Yu Heng stepped aside.
Qin Ya peeked out from behind her. Today, instead of wearing a hoodie and shorts, she was wearing a long down jacket.
So she does feel cold after all.
As she was muttering to herself, Qin Ya took off her down jacket, and lo and behold, underneath she was wearing a vest and shorts.
Yu Heng looked at Qin Ya: "How was yesterday's live stream?"
"It's alright." Qin Ya pouted, but her eyes glanced into the living room. "Is it still that ugly suit today?"
"For now," Yu Heng said. "I'll design a leather case for you, and you'll be able to use it in a while. But you have to promise to come and broadcast at least five days a week."
"Fine, I'll broadcast it then!" Qin Ya snorted and went straight upstairs.
Qin Lu changed her shoes and straightened up: "This child has no manners at all."
"It's alright," Yu Heng smiled, "It's good to have personality."
The two walked to the living room sofa and sat down.
Yu Heng poured a glass of water and handed it to Qin Lu: "Counselor, have some water."
"Thank you." Qin Lu took it, took a sip, and said, "Yu Heng, there's been progress on the club matter."
Yu Heng's eyes lit up: "How so?"
"The hospital has agreed in principle," Qin Lu put down her water glass, "but there are conditions."
"Please speak."
"First, club activities must not disrupt the normal teaching order." Qin Lu held up one finger. "Second, all live-streamed content must be wholesome and positive, and cannot skirt the rules."
She paused, then looked at Yu Heng: "Especially the second point, which the hospital leaders particularly emphasized."
Yu Heng clicked his tongue inwardly.
Healthy and positive?
Not skirting the rules?
Then what's the point of live streaming?
But he still smiled and nodded, "Understood, understood, we will definitely follow the rules. So when can recruitment begin?"
"We can start now," Qin Lu thought for a moment. "You start recruiting, and I'll figure out a classroom for you."
"Okay!" Yu Heng rubbed his hands together. "As for the equipment and stuff..."
"The hospital can borrow some of your lighting equipment," Qin Lu said, "but you'll mainly have to rely on yourselves."
"Alright, it's fine," Yu Heng grinned, "Let's take it slow."
He hadn't expected the school to provide anything materially.
The living room fell silent.
Yu Heng glanced at Qin Lu, who was looking down at her phone, her clothes open, the black stockings covering her legs gleaming with a delicate sheen.
Are you not wearing flesh-colored stockings today?
These black stockings are really something. His throat felt a little dry, and a bold idea popped into his head.
"Counselor," he said, his voice lower than usual.
Qin Lu raised her head and looked at him.
Yu Heng met her gaze, smiled slightly, and said, "Your stockings look really nice today."
As soon as the words left her mouth, a look of surprise flashed across Qin Lu's face, followed by a complicated expression and a hint of anger in her voice: "Yu Heng, speak properly."
"Haha, just telling the truth." Yu Heng chuckled awkwardly, knowing when to stop, and didn't continue the topic. Instead, he asked, "Advisor, is Qin Ya's father away most of the time?"
Qin Lu glanced at him: "Why are you asking that?"
"I was just asking casually," Yu Heng said casually. "It seems like you have a hard time taking care of her all by yourself."
Qin Lu was silent for a few seconds, then said calmly, "He works in another city and may not come back even once or twice a month."
"Oh..." Yu Heng nodded, "That is indeed quite difficult."
"I'm used to it," Qin Lu said in a flat tone.
Qin Ya's voice came from upstairs: "What's it to you how old I am?"
Yu Heng and Qin Lu exchanged a glance and both smiled.
"This child..." Qin Lu shook her head, but her eyes were filled with a smile.
Yu Heng felt a stirring in his heart as he looked at her smiling face.
When this woman smiled, the fine lines at the corners of her eyes actually added to her charm.
The charm of a mature woman is something a young girl can't compare to.
"Advisor," he spoke again, "you're usually alone, what do you do on weekends?"
Qin Lu looked up at him: "Why are you talking so much today?"
"Haha," Yu Heng chuckled, "sitting here is sitting anyway, so let's chat."
"Let's read books, watch movies," Qin Lu said, "and occasionally take Qin Ya out for a stroll."
"Oh..." Yu Heng nodded, "That's quite leisurely."
Qin Lu didn't reply and continued looking at her phone.
Yu Heng didn't ask any more questions.
These things can't be rushed; we have to take it slowly.
After a while, the noise from upstairs stopped.
Qin Ya shuffled downstairs in her slippers, her face beaming with excitement: "Mom! Someone gifted me a Captain title today!"
"Captain?" Qin Lu frowned. "What is it?"
"It's a gift!" Qin Ya ran up to Qin Lu. "It's worth over a hundred yuan!"
Qin Lu looked at Yu Heng.
Yu Heng explained, "These are virtual gifts given by viewers, each costing 138 yuan. After the platform takes a cut, the streamer gets half of that."
Qin Lu frowned even more deeply: "This money..."
"Legitimate income," Yu Heng quickly replied, "legal and compliant."
Seeing Qin Ya's excited expression, Qin Lu smiled indulgently: "That's pretty good for the second day."
"Right!" Qin Ya chuckled as she sat down on the sofa. "I streamed for an hour and a half today, and at its peak, there were over thirty people watching online!"
Yu Heng raised an eyebrow: "You've improved quite quickly, that's great!"
"Of course," Qin Ya said proudly, raising her chin. "I learn things very quickly."
Yu Heng smiled. The proud and aloof little girl was so flattered that she lost her pride and became less arrogant.
"Could you last three hours next time?" Yu Heng asked her, looking at her. "The longer you broadcast, the better the viewership will be."
