Chapter 48
. Isn't the point of wearing it out to be seen by others?
After finishing their meal, the four of them strolled back to their dormitory, chatting as they went.
"I'm truly fed up. Every time that lady serves me food," Hao Junran gestured, "she takes such a big spoonful, and by the end, there's only half a spoonful left!"
"Then next time you can tell her, 'Auntie, your hands shake faster than I can when I'm poking a tube,'" Liu Tianqi said, suppressing a laugh.
"Go to hell!" Hao Junran laughed and cursed upon hearing this, "I don't have that kind of fetish."
"You're just bragging," Liu Tianyu continued to tease him. "Every time I clean, I find some paper balls in your mess."
As Yu Heng listened to their nonsense, his phone vibrated.
Bai Xinran said the live stream would resume in the afternoon.
He typed back: "Then you can broadcast as usual. I'm going back to my dorm to rest for a while. I'll go back this afternoon."
The group had just returned to their dormitory and lay down on their beds when the dormitory door was pushed open.
Qin Lu stood at the door, a smile on her face: "Is everyone here?"
"Counselor!" Hao Junran sat up in bed with a start. "What brings you here?"
"Just passing by, thought I'd drop by." Qin Lu walked in, her gaze sweeping around the dormitory. "Two of you in your dorm signed up for the basketball tournament, right?"
Yu Heng sat up in bed: "Yes, it's me and Hao Junran."
As he spoke, his eyes swept over Qin Lu's calves.
She wore stockings again today, black ones, but different from the last time.
This time, the side of the ankle features a row of small silver letters, which looks quite exquisite.
Balenciaga?
Qin Lu seemed to notice his gaze and slightly brought her legs together: "Then let's meet at the playground this afternoon. There are 10 boys in our department who have signed up. Our department's PE teacher said that you will have a scrimmage this afternoon to select the starting lineup."
"Play this afternoon?" Hao Junran perked up. "Sure!"
Yu Heng squinted and asked Qin Lu, "What time?"
"Three o'clock," Qin Lu said. "The PE teacher asked me to notify you. Just be there on time."
She paused, then added, "Oh, and wear sportswear, and it's best to bring a pair of basketball shoes."
"Okay." Yu Heng nodded, his gaze falling on her stockings again.
Qin Lu clearly sensed it this time, glanced at him, and said in a dignified tone, "Then I won't disturb your rest."
"Take care, counselor." Yu Heng grinned.
Qin Lu's eyes crinkled into a smile as she turned and left.
Yu Heng clicked his tongue inwardly.
Changing the style again? Maybe next time you should change the fishing net?
Haha, that's probably unlikely.
As soon as the door closed, Hao Junran immediately leaned over and said, "Holy crap, was our advisor blushing just now?"
Liu Tianqi leaned against the bunk and muttered, "Yu Heng, where the hell are you looking?"
Yu Heng lay back on the bed: "What was I looking at?"
"What the hell are you pretending for!" Hao Junran whispered. "Your eyes are practically glued on!"
"What's wrong with me looking at stockings?" Yu Heng said without changing his expression. "The counselor wears them so obviously, isn't it for others to see?"
Liu Tianqi gave a thumbs up: "Awesome, you can actually say that."
"Alright, stop talking nonsense and get some sleep," Hou Xudong rolled over. "You two have to play ball this afternoon, don't be out of breath after just a few steps."
Hao Junran chuckled: "Don't worry, with my physique, I can run the whole field without stopping."
"You're just bragging," Liu Tianqi pulled the blanket up a bit. "Last time in PE class, during the 1000-meter race, who was the last one to reach the finish line and then threw up?"
"That's because you ate too much for breakfast!" Hao Junran retorted, sticking his neck out. "It has nothing to do with stamina!"
The afternoon's match was a foregone conclusion.
Or rather, it's no different from my previous life.
As Yu Heng ran around on the field, his mind was filled with déjà vu.
This ball looks familiar...
Actually, I had this feeling many times before I was reborn.
But this time it's for real; he really experienced it.
The offensive tactics, defensive habits, and even the timing of the passing errors of those guys on the other side were almost identical to those in the selection tournament in my previous life.
"Damn, Yu Heng, that was a great pass!" Hao Junran caught a bounce pass, used his size to squeeze into the paint, and sent the ball into the basket with an awkward but effective hook shot.
After landing, he wiped his sweat and gave Yu Heng a thumbs up.
Yu Heng waved his hand, thinking to himself that in his past life, Hao Junran hadn't caught the ball properly, and it had bounced out of bounds.
Looks like this fat guy has a pretty good touch.
After playing for more than an hour, the PE teacher blew the whistle to stop them.
"Alright, that's enough." The teacher was a middle-aged man in his forties. "Everyone, come and assemble."
The boys swarmed around, all of them drenched in sweat.
Yu Heng picked up a bottle of mineral water from the sidelines, took two gulps, and squinted as he listened to Teacher Zhao call roll.
"Let's decide on the starting lineup," Teacher Zhao said, flipping through her notebook. "Yu Heng, Hao Junran, Song Xinyu, Zhou Yuhang, and Li Haoran. Just the five of you."
Those whose names were called looked at each other.
Hao Junran grinned and nudged Yu Heng with his elbow: "It's a sure thing."
Yu Heng didn't speak, his gaze sweeping over the other three people.
Song Xinyu is in their class. He's quite tall, about 1.85 meters, but he's as thin as a bamboo pole, and his basketball skills rely entirely on his arm span.
Zhou Yuhang and Li Haoran were in the next class. Yu Heng had played a few games with them in his previous life, but they weren't close.
There's basically no contact between them.
"Make a note of the substitutes too," Teacher Zhao continued reading, "Wang Shuo..."
Yu Heng raised an eyebrow.
Wang Shuo?
That guy who was pursuing Meng Shirui so diligently, and who spoke in a sissy manner.
He turned his head and saw Wang Shuo standing at the back of the crowd, looking down at his phone.
This guy can play basketball?
Is this Kuroko's Basketball?
"Yu Heng," Teacher Zhao suddenly called his name.
"Huh?" Yu Heng came back to his senses.
"You'll play point guard," Coach Zhao said. "The responsibility of organizing the offense is now yours."
"Okay." Yu Heng nodded.
He played this position in his past life too.
"Hao Junran, you're playing center, so the inside game is your responsibility. Be careful not to foul when you're grabbing rebounds."
Hao Junran patted his chest confidently: "Don't worry, teacher, with my size, I can dominate the backboards!"
Several boys around him laughed.
"Song Xinyu, you play power forward, help Hao Junran on defense more often."
Song Xinyu adjusted his glasses: "Okay, teacher."
Yu Heng looked at his bookish appearance and clicked his tongue inwardly.
This guy was really good at defense in his past life, but he was prone to fouls. He fouled out before the third quarter was over.
I hope I can hold on a little longer in this life.
"Zhou Yuhang and Li Haoran, you two play shooting guard and small forward, respectively. Run around more and find open shots."
The two nodded.
Teacher Zhao closed his notebook and adjusted his glasses: "The competition starts on November 1st, so there's about a week left. Use this week to practice your teamwork as much as possible, stay in good physical condition, and avoid injuries."
He paused, then emphasized, "Especially you starters, during the game you are strictly prohibited from staying up late, drinking alcohol, and... well, basically, you need to take care of your health."
The boys exchanged glances, trying to suppress their laughter.
Is it strictly forbidden to go to a hotel with a young girl?
"Did you hear that?" Teacher Zhao glared.
"We heard you!" came the scattered responses from the crowd.
"Alright, dismissed." Teacher Zhao waved his hand.
"Let's go back to the dorm to shower," Hao Junran said, draping his coat over his shoulders. "I'm all sweaty and feel terrible."
"You go back first," Yu Heng said. "I'm going back to where I live."
Bai Xinran should be on air by now, right?
But why hasn't Qin Lu mentioned sending Qin Ya over for the live stream yet?
