Chapter 1306
The Kiras Brothers: Hey hey hey! We're back again!
The Angel of the Sun, Sandmae, can move at high speeds within high-temperature, high-pressure lava, making it an incredibly adaptable creature. Its shell, evolved over countless years, has pushed heat resistance to its limits; the hard outer carapace gleams with a dark red sheen under intense heat. Its body encounters almost no resistance as it glides through the lava, and the scorching tracks left by its years of traversing the red lava are its most familiar domain.
This guy hasn't been discovered yet.
It huddled deep within the magma, its outer shell pressed tightly against the scorching rock face. Its normally prized sensory organs were now completely retracted, not daring to release even the slightest energy fluctuation. But now, it was afraid!
What the hell is going on with the world lately?!
It sensed the distant tremors through the flowing magma. Its once-proud companions, those beings also called Apostles, were vanishing one by one under some strange force. The Third Apostle, the Fourth Apostle, the Fifth Apostle—their prized abilities were utterly useless before those monsters. How could they all be like this?
Damn it!
Shouldn't we Apostles be the strongest in this world? Born from the Tree of Life, we should be the undisputed rulers of this land, at the top of the evolutionary chain, chosen messengers to carry out the plan. Why can just any random monster bully us?! Those gigantic monsters that appear out of nowhere tear apart the Apostles' bodies with brute force, neutralizing their domains with bizarre energy—what gives them the right?!
What's wrong with this world?!
The magma rippled violently due to its emotional fluctuations, bubbles rising and bursting from its depths with gurgling sounds. "Don't let me find out who did this! Otherwise! He's dead!" Its tentacles lashed angrily in the magma, stirring up scorching eddies.
Achoo! Aaaaaaaahh ...
Sextant's sneeze caused him pain all over his body for a long time. The violent tremor aggravated his wounds, causing him to break out in a cold sweat instantly, and his body involuntarily arched up, unable to straighten up for a long time.
His body was covered in bandages, clearly indicating serious injuries. White bandages were wrapped tightly from his chest to his waist, layer upon layer, firmly securing the wounds left by the previous fierce battle, with several spots of blood seeping through the bandages, spreading a faint red hue. He gritted his teeth and rested for a while, only daring to relax again once the stinging pain subsided slightly.
Just then, the door to the ward opened.
The door was pushed open from the outside, bringing in the smell of disinfectant from the corridor. Cui Ming walked in with unhurried steps, his leather shoes making a crisp sound on the floor. His figure, backlit by the corridor lights, cast a long shadow on the floor as he walked straight toward the hospital bed.
"What are you doing here?!"
Sextant was completely flustered. His body, which had been resting against the headboard, suddenly tensed up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. He ignored the pain in his ribs, his breath catching in his throat, his face paling. That damned Cui Ming was never coming here for anything good! That persistent ghost always brought trouble and schemes with him. He must have heard about his injury and come specifically to kick him while he was down, probably plotting something nasty.
Cui Ming, observing Sextant's tense expression, smiled faintly. His gaze, like that of someone surveying prey trapped in a cage, held an undisguised amusement as he slowly stood by the bed. "I just came to check on your safety. Do you need me to call a bodyguard for you?"
"..."
Sextant stared at Cui Ming's face, knowing perfectly well that this bastard had deliberately come to mess with him! Beneath that feigned concern lay gloating and opportunistic schemes; he clearly wanted to use the opportunity to plant someone to monitor him, or simply extort money from him.
"No need! Get out! Get out!!!"
Sextant yelled at the top of his lungs, his voice booming through the ward, making the water glass on the bedside table tremble. The wound beneath the bandages began to bleed again due to the intense emotional turmoil, a slight pain spreading from his chest, making him grimace and gasp for breath. Yet, his spirit remained undiminished; his fingers gripped the sheets tightly, wishing he could kick this bastard out. Cui Ming, surprisingly good-tempered at this moment, neither angry nor retorting, simply shrugged, his face still bearing that nonchalant, deadpan expression, the corners of his mouth even slightly upturned, making him even more infuriating. "Fine."
Then Cui Ming turned and left, his footsteps fading into the distance in the corridor. The door to the ward was gently closed, and the room fell silent again, with only the sound of the wind coming from outside the window.
This made Sextant feel even more uneasy! He stared at the closed door, his brows furrowed into a knot, his eyes full of suspicion.
Oh no! This guy is so easy to talk to! There's definitely something fishy going on!!!
Less than a minute after Cui Ming left, the door opened again.
The door was pushed open from the outside, slamming against the doorstop with a dull thud. The hallway light poured in, casting a long shadow on the floor. Then…
The sextant spotted two creatures it absolutely did not want to see!
The shrunken Giras brothers, monsters. Their once mountain-like bodies were now compressed to the size of ordinary people. The red one's horn still gleamed darkly, and its round eyes glared. The two monsters squeezed into the doorway, their immense presence instantly filling the entire hospital room. They grinned at Sextant, their gaping mouths almost reaching their ears, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth. Their smiles were full of schadenfreude and ill intent, as if they were appraising a piece of meat delivered to their doorstep.
"Wait! What are you doing?! I'm telling you, I'm... Ahhhhhh!!!! Don't grab my good leg!!!"
Before Sextant could finish speaking, the red Kiras pounced, its massive claws precisely gripping his uninjured leg and yanking him downwards. A sharp pain shot from his leg bone to his head, and Sextant was dragged halfway off the bed. The bandages instantly ripped open, and the tearing pain caused him to scream in agony. His fingers flailed wildly in the air, grasping only air.
"Crack!!!"
"Aa ...
The crisp sound of bones breaking echoed through the ward, so clear it made your teeth ache, like someone forcefully snapping a dry twig, the sound reverberating between the walls.
Sextant's scream became shrill and distorted, a heart-wrenching howl bursting from his throat, shaking even the water glass on the bedside table. His face instantly contorted, his eyes bulged, veins popped on his forehead, and large beads of cold sweat streamed down his cheeks. He convulsed violently on the bed like a fish thrown ashore.
As the Giras brothers strained together, the red one pressed down on his shoulder, while the black one grabbed his calf. The two monsters worked in perfect unison, their muscles tense as they let out a low growl. Sextant's arms and legs were once again broken, his joints twisted at bizarre angles, bone fragments seemingly about to pierce through his flesh, and blood seeped from the torn bandages, staining the sheets red.
after all……
That sextant is really getting in the way; it's good to let him shut up for a bit. (End of Chapter)
