Chapter 1378

Daigo Shinjo: Can we not mention this?

Cui Ming turned around, his gaze shifting from the backs of the two people on the tarmac to An Qi's face.

His expression was very serious, as if he were stating some undeniable fact.

"Daigo and Shinjo are very powerful."

His voice wasn't loud, but he enunciated each word clearly, with an undeniable certainty that made it impossible not to believe him.

"They were no ordinary pilots. Their reaction speed, operational precision, and on-the-spot judgment were all top-notch. If they weren't ace pilots, they would have been dead long ago."

Cui Ming paused, then tapped his finger lightly on the table, making a crisp sound.

“They never encountered ordinary enemies, but terrifying monsters. The mobility, destructive power, and attack methods of those things were completely beyond the scope of conventional air combat. Anyone else would have been torn to shreds on the first encounter, without even a chance to parachute.”

After listening, Anqi nodded, her confusion fading and replaced by an expression of understanding.

She relaxed her shoulders, leaned against the table, and crossed her arms over her chest.

"That's true. After all, the opponent is a monster."

Her voice trailed off, as if she were processing the explanation, but then her brows furrowed, her lips twitched, and she revealed an indescribable, strange expression.

"But I still don't understand, these two seem to be incredibly unlucky. Even after the battle was over, they still managed to crash their plane. The battle was over, the monsters were dead, yet they still managed to slam their plane to the ground. That's just too much."

She stopped mid-sentence, shook her head, as if mourning for the two people.

Cui Ming was silent for a moment, then smiled, a very rare occurrence, a smile that carried a hint of helplessness and agreement.

He nodded, his tone even carrying a hint of emotion.

"I completely agree. Those two are indeed in such an unfortunate situation."

His gaze returned to the tarmac, where Daigo was squatting on the ground inspecting the fighter jet's landing gear, while Shinjo stood beside him with his hands on his hips, gesturing at the wing with a frustrated expression, seemingly muttering something under his breath.

The setting sun cast long shadows of them, and the two ace pilots looked rather desolate from behind.

"The battle is over, the alarm has been lifted, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Only those two could still cause problems at the last moment."

Cui Ming shook his head, his voice carrying an almost sympathetic sigh.

"Sometimes the engine suddenly stalls, sometimes the control system malfunctions, and sometimes a bird just crashes into you. In short, it always manages to do something new when things shouldn't happen."

Anqi couldn't help but chuckle, then quickly pursed her lips, her shoulders trembling slightly.

"So this isn't a technical problem, it's a problem of luck?"

"You could say that."

Cui Ming nodded, his expression returning to calm, but a trace of sympathy for the two men remained in his eyes.

"Technology can't save you from luck; even ace pilots have to bow to fate."

Daigo and Shinjo were standing on the tarmac when they sneezed almost simultaneously.

"Ah!"

"Ah!"

The two rubbed their noses, looked at each other, and their eyes revealed a sense of bewilderment.

"Who's talking about us?"

Xincheng muttered something and rubbed his finger on the tip of his nose.

Daigo didn't reply, his gaze passing over the parked fighter jets and landing on the silver-white ship in the distance.

The Yukikaze sat quietly in its designated berth, its streamlined hull gleaming with a cold metallic sheen in the sunlight, like a sleeping falcon.

Envy unconsciously showed in his eyes. The ship's performance, firepower, and maneuverability were all far superior to the Flying Swallow No. 1.

Just then, the air beside the Yukikaze suddenly distorted, and a pale blue particle of light quickly condensed into shape. Kaina's projection appeared outside the bridge, her long green hair swaying gently in the virtual breeze, and her exquisitely beautiful face displaying undisguised disdain.

She raised her hand and slowly extended her middle finger towards Daigo and Shinjo.

Daigo and Shinjo were both frozen in place.

Although it was very impolite, Daigo and Shinjo knew that this person had already given them a lot of face.

After all, given Kaina's original personality, it was already a great act of mercy that she didn't directly throw virtual bombs at them.

"She's still holding a grudge."

Xincheng sighed, his shoulders slumped, and his voice was full of helplessness.

Daigo gave a wry smile and nodded.

"Understandable."

Last time, Kaina assisted the two of them in battle, and things were going well.

Her calculations were accurate to the millisecond, her evasion routes were meticulously planned, her fire support was timed perfectly, and she even took into account wind speed and airflow.

As a result, both of them were shot down!

It wasn't that Shinjo was hit by the monster's main cannon, nor was it struck by any fatal attack. Instead, Shinjo made a sharp turn while dodging and nearly collided with Daigo's wing. The two fighter jets slammed into the ground like drunkards, exploding into two clouds of thick smoke.

This caused Kena to become withdrawn for a while.

She locked herself deep within the system and didn't appear on any projection device for three whole days, not even responding to Cui Ming's calls.

Later, Cui Ming explained to her that it wasn't that her AI assistant was incompetent, but that the two of them were cursed!
At the time, Choi Myung was leaning against the bridge of the Yukikaze, holding a cup of coffee in his hand, speaking to the air in a flat tone.

“Kaina, it’s not your problem, it’s the two guys’ constitution. Even if you calculate the avoidance rate to be 100%, they can still find that 0% probability of crashing on their own.”

The system remained silent for a long time before Kaina's muffled voice finally came through.

"Really?"

"Really, I can testify."

Cui Ming nodded and took a sip of coffee.

"You've never had a problem assisting me, right?"

"Of course!"

Kaina's tone instantly regained its usual pride, and she bristled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

"So, it's their problem, not yours."

Cui made his decision.

Kaina therefore forbade the two of them from getting close to the Yukikaze and Hiten-1, which she controlled, fearing that the two of them would cause trouble for her!

Her exact words were delivered directly to their ears via the ship's internal broadcast system; her voice was crisp and venomous.

"Listen up, you two crash maniacs, stay far away from the ships I control from now on, not even within ten meters! I don't want to be infected by your bad luck. I need to save my computing core to assist the truly reliable people!"

Daigo and Shinjo stood there, watching Kana's projection gradually dissipate into the air, leaving only the upright middle finger lingering like a fleeting afterimage.

"Shouldn't we ask Cui Ming for advice on how to break this curse?"

Xincheng scratched the back of his head, looking somewhat embarrassed.

Daigo shook his head, his gaze falling on the newly repaired Flying Swallow No. 1 at his feet, its fuselage still bearing several patch-like repair marks.

"Forget it, he'll probably teach us how to avoid colliding with each other first." (End of Chapter)
