Chapter 19
Losing Reason
John was shot in the chest, and a mouthful of blood rushed to his ventilator, spitting out with a "pfft".
Hank was hit in the abdomen, stumbled, and flew backward, rolling on the ground.
Fortunately, they had switched to level 5 armor, so Ash's bullets did not penetrate their bodies directly.
The other person was unfortunately shot in the neck!
There's no armor protection there!
A 12.7*55mm bullet hit the neck! It shattered the entire cervical spine, and the head flew to the side and rolled twice.
His body fell straight backward to the ground.
John was seeing stars from the beating, his eyes filled with terror. Why! Why was the warden here?
They came up from downstairs? That's impossible!
Then there's only one possibility!
The warden wasn't downstairs; he was waiting for them on the second floor!
Why! Why did the warden know their route?!
Shouldn't the map boss's activity area be fixed? How did it end up here?
Why did the warden leave his personal guards to act on their own?
John had a million questions in his mind, but he didn't have time to think about them. He pulled the trigger of his M4A1.
Fire wildly towards the door!
There was no breath-holding, no aiming.
He was completely devoid of reason, driven solely by instinct and fear!
As soon as the warden at the entrance landed, a black smoke bomb exploded and disappeared from their sight.
Hank, on the other hand, was still rational. He immediately got up and pulled John, who was on the ground, to hide in a nearby cell.
He knew perfectly well that as the black smoke billowed out, the next step would be for bullets to emerge from the smoke and blow their heads off!
He had no choice but to hide immediately and throw the last Molotov cocktail in front of the door to block the road and stop the warden for a while!
"They actually hid," Han Che thought to himself. "Using incendiary bombs to block the road, they're smarter than I thought."
Han Che didn't charge through the incendiary bomb; all three of his shots hit their mark, yet he only killed one person!
The other two are Level 5 Armor!
There's no need for a head-on confrontation, after all, Han Che only has one life, and the current funds aren't enough to revive him.
Killing them would be easy, but if they were betrayed and replaced, there would be nowhere to turn for help.
Han Che then disappeared into the smoke, while the music continued to play...
"Captain! Calm down!" Hank pressed down on John, who was struggling on the ground.
"Why! Why did this happen!" John roared, throwing the gun to the ground and clutching his head with both hands.
"I have all the information! I watched the live stream! I executed the plan!" He kept scratching his hair and scalp with both hands.
"Why are we facing obstacles at every turn! This is completely different from the plan! What are these explorers even doing?!"
Hank peered out of the cell's bars. The warden hadn't come over, but the somber music sounded like the warden's footsteps, and every beat of the drum made his heart clench!
"Where are the samurai swordsmen?" Hank suddenly remembered that the club had previously contacted them to negotiate for help.
People?
"Oh yeah, where are those people?" John also remembered this.
They saw these three people on the elevator shaft platform, planning to take advantage of the insurance company, but they didn't interfere.
"These three pigs! All they do is eat!" John slammed his fist against the wall.
"It was agreed upon in the club's negotiations that we would gather in the cells after the prison broadcast came on and ambush the map boss!" Hank's brows furrowed, his expression grave.
"Now that such a big commotion has happened, no one has come..."
"Captain, do you think those three... might have been killed by the sniper again?" Hank voiced his conjecture, finding the possibility unbelievable.
Even if those Japanese are as stupid as pigs and as greedy as dogs, they shouldn't make the same mistake twice!
"Damn it! Who knows? They'd better be dead, or I'll make them, the Samurai Sword Club, give me an explanation!"
"What should I do?" John's anger gradually subsided, leaving only panic and fear...
Instead of being the team leader, he started asking Hank about his plans.
Hank didn't hesitate and immediately began analyzing, "The music hasn't stopped, the warden should still be nearby!"
"We don't know why he came to the second floor of the cell block, but judging from the current situation, his activity area is likely the entire cell block area!"
"We're down one man now, we've thrown all our projectiles, and I have a leg injury!"
"Besides, the warden is blocking our way ahead, so it's not realistic for us to force our way out in our current state."
John panicked upon hearing this, "What do we do then! This is an evacuation point; if we don't go this way, we'll get lost!"
Hank shook his head and continued, "Precisely because this is an evacuation point, the other teams will have to come sooner or later! Let's leave from here first, find a safe place, and wait for the next power outage!"
"If other teams can kill the warden, we can reap the benefits!"
"Even if we can't kill them, we can still take advantage of the chaos and escape together!"
John immediately thought it was feasible. "That's the only way... Let's go. It seems that we Bald Eagles won't be able to hunt down the warden this time."
John still felt regretful... The plan was so perfect, but he never expected this.
The warden is so cunning!
And these prison guards! They're all so cunning!
John and Hank exchanged a glance, then slowly opened the gate and looked toward the iron gate where the warden had just appeared.
The music was still playing, coming from behind that iron gate.
The two men, rifles in hand, slowly retreated in the direction they had come from, into the depths of the corridor on the other side.
John glanced downstairs. The guards had vanished from where they had been, and even the prison guards had hidden themselves again, disappearing without a trace.
Large beads of sweat dripped from John's forehead. For the first time, he felt that these hidden NPCs were more terrifying than the shouting soldiers in other maps.
He was not so embarrassed by the combination of machine gunners and flamethrowers, but it was these bare-armored prison guards who made him tremble with fear.
He continued walking, down the stairs, and further ahead he would be able to leave the prison area!
At least, I won't have to face the warden anymore.
The music grew fainter and fainter, drifting further and further away.
John's right leg is completely numb; it's hard to say whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.
He felt a chill in his legs, but it was alright, everything was fine! He had escaped after all, and as long as those teams pulled the plug, he could still evacuate!
Strangely enough, people who die in dangerous areas can be resurrected in the real world unharmed.
This is something every player operator knows.
But even in dangerous areas, covered in wounds and in excruciating pain, they were willing to be killed.
Only the fear of being lost can drive them to suicide.
The moment of death may be painful, and the experience of death may be real.
They all loathed this feeling.
Therefore, they will do everything in their power to survive and evacuate from dangerous areas.
It's just ahead!
You'll leave the cell once you go through this gate!
Then you won't have to worry about that nasty map boss anymore!
John stepped out through the gap in the iron gate.
The helicopter's blinding light shone directly onto his face.
John was stunned. What was that so bright?
When I came to my senses, I realized I was already out of the portal and in the real world!
