Chapter 38

The Rice-Stealing Mouse

"Is it... over?"

The fire door on the side of the administrative hall was ajar, and an eye peered out from the shadows of the gap.

Tidal Prison has returned to silence.

This sudden silence has happened several times before, but each time it hasn't lasted very long.

Kim Soo-min had been listening intently to the fire door for a long time. Lee Jun-ho, the captain of the Hibiscus Squad, regained consciousness shortly after the bleeding was stopped and he received his medication.

But at that time, the sounds of gunfire, explosions, and shouts outside were so loud they felt like they were going to blow the roof off. They didn't dare to make any rash moves, so they just lay there listening.

Peace finally returned after a man claiming to be Geheros took the person away.

They crouched low, their gun barrels scanning the administrative hall as their eyes followed their movements.

Team Leader Li made a hand gesture, and Kim Soo-min nodded. The two took turns providing cover as they slowly slipped into the area where the fighting was most intense.

The scene was indeed horrific, with many people lying haphazardly on the ground.

Captain Li easily identified two of the corpses as members of the Samurai Sword Squad, but he didn't see their captain.

There was also a corpse whose head had exploded in two from its mouth; it was barely recognizable as Hank from the Bald Eagle Society.

Nearby were several corpses of Thor, wearing metal self-isolating helmets and yellow prison uniforms. Even more striking was a man leaning against the corner of the wall with a lingering eerie smile on his face.

"My God..." Kim Soo-min lowered his voice, his Adam's apple bobbing. "The Bald Eagle Association and the Samurai Sword Club? They were all fully armored at level 5, how could they be in such bad shape?"

"What exactly are these prisoners? These NPCs weren't here before, were they?"

Lee Junho didn't answer immediately. He cautiously looked around before speaking.

"I don't know, but let's not worry about that for now. With so much equipment and supplies, we need to act quickly."

"We need to be careful of the warden and his guards. We have no chance against them. Quickly loot the place, take only the valuables!"

Kim Soo-min nodded emphatically, understanding his captain's meaning. His shock and fear were suppressed by the resources before him, and his eyes immediately turned greedy.

Without further ado, the two quickly split up to loot the corpse's belongings, while keeping a close eye on their surroundings.

Li Junhao headed straight for Hank's corpse. The Bald Eagle's equipment was top-notch, something he had been eyeing for a long time. Now that he had such a good opportunity, he certainly couldn't miss it.

The fully modified M4A1 assault rifle that Hank carried was worth almost as much as all of Li Junhao's belongings, not to mention it had level 5 protection.

Although the damage was severe, with the bulletproof plates almost completely shattered, it was still far more valuable than their current four-piece armor and three-headed suit that had been shot once.

Kim Soo-min found the bodies of the two soldiers who died in the samurai sword squad. One of the bodies was in a particularly gruesome state, with its head and arm stuffed into its stomach from the neck.

Kim Soo-min forced himself to endure the nausea and stripped off the weapon. His armor, soaked in blood and stretched taut by the bloated chest and abdomen of the corpse, was too heavy for him to bear.

The Bald Eagle Squad and the Samurai Squad fought their way to the administrative district after respawning, with no supplies left in their backpacks or ammo pouches, only some unused medical syringes.

Lee Junho focused his attention on the man leaning against the wall. The smile and mask stirred up his memories. This must be the Park Ji-hoon teammate who whistled in the lobby and killed them with a single shot.

Such a character is definitely not as simple as an ordinary NPC!

After removing Raven's bulletproof vest, Li found that the front and back bulletproof plates had been shattered, and his body was riddled with bullet holes, rendering it worthless.

But the helmet was intact, and he put it in his backpack along with his revolver.

After a quick search, only four strong prisoner corpses remained, each carrying an MP5 and a two-handed iron hammer.

"Captain, do we still need these prisoners' hammers? They seem to be of good quality, but they're a bit hard to carry," Kim Soo-min asked, turning around.

"Too heavy and worthless, pick the light and valuable ones, and take all their guns."

Lee Junho didn't even look up; his gaze was drawn to a silver metal plaque on the ground.

The metal plaque was small, with some wear on the edges, and engraved with the Fallen Prince—Raven.

Lee Junho clutched the nameplate in his hand, examined it carefully, and then put it into his inner pocket. He had a feeling that this nameplate might be more than just "valuable".

"That's about enough, Kim Soo-min!" Lee Jun-ho had already put the main weapons he had looted into his bag, along with some undamaged armor and helmets. "Any more and we won't be able to run anymore."

"Hurry, the prison is about to close, let's get out!"

Without lingering, the two bent over and quickly evacuated through the fire door along the route they had come from.

A few minutes later, the warden's guards, following the warden's orders, escorted John and the other two to the basement before returning to the location.

Shi Ding looked around the battlefield, where several corpses lay scattered about, and stopped in his tracks.

The air seemed to freeze for a moment.

His gaze slowly fell on the location of the raven's corpse, where there were obvious signs of it being ransacked and searched.

The weapons beside Hank and the samurai's corpses not far away had also disappeared.

Shi Ding did not go back to report to the warden; instead, he gave a direct and extremely concise order.

"Chase them!" Shi Ding whispered. "Outside the prison, at the delayed evacuation point, find them!"

The five then quickly headed towards the delayed evacuation point via the shortest route.

Before the prison opened, Shi Ding was instructed by the warden to familiarize himself with the prison and train the prison guards.

He knew the map like the back of his hand, and even though he was wearing armor and carrying a riot shield, he was still running at the very front of the group, and his speed was not slow at all.

Shortly thereafter, they arrived at a hole in the prison, from which lay an artificial pool enclosed by a dam.

Just then, I saw two figures swimming towards the evacuation point in the water.

"Lin Feng, Lin Rui, Lin Kun! Give them a good beating!"

The three prison guards standing behind the shields immediately stepped forward, their QBZ-95 assault rifles aimed at the figure on the water, still within their firing range at this distance.

Rat-a-tat-tat-tat, bullets pierced the water, splashing water everywhere.

"Damn it, how did these warden's guards manage to track us all the way here!" Kim Soo-min, suppressed by the firepower, dared not surface and suddenly realized that Captain Lee beside him was gone.

Looking back, he saw red blood mist spreading in the water. Captain Li had been hit by a bullet in the water and was sinking.

Without hesitation, he immediately dived down, grabbed Captain Li's arm, and pulled him toward the surface. However, given the current situation, there was no chance of surfacing, let alone climbing to the evacuation point.

boom!

A flash of fire appeared in the distance, and the Shi brothers, Shi Ding and Shi Lei, immediately raised their shields and stood in front of the three rifle guards.

With a clang, it blocked a bullet flying from a distant evacuation point.

Shi Ding's eye twitched as he looked toward the evacuation platform.

The three members of the Dragon Soar team waited to evacuate on the platform, where there was a glaringly bright reflection.

They have snipers!

boom!

Another bullet, trailing a white contrail, hurtled through the air as it hurtled towards them.

Shi Ding deflected the bullet with his shield.

Two people on the platform were aiming their guns at this side, while another player on the other side was pulling Kim Soo-min and his companion onto the platform.

Then Shi Ding and the sniper exchanged glances, watching as the players disappeared onto the platform at the same time.
