Chapter 32

Yellow Smoke

Li Junhao, the team leader of the Hibiscus Club, peered inside from the wall.

Kim Soo-min lowered his voice and asked, "Captain, aren't we going to go with the Bald Eagle Association and the Samurai Sword Club? What if the Americans blame us later..."

"What's it to blame?" Captain Li didn't turn around. "They made a mess of their own business, they can't evacuate, and some people got lost. How can you blame us?"

"Besides, their club hasn't given our club any benefits. Do they expect us to work for free? We're not going to take the bullets for them."

"But today's equipment... Level 3 helmets, Level 4 armor, the exploration team's equipment is better than ours. The Bald Eagles are all Level 5 protection, if we run into them, we'll definitely be at a disadvantage."

Captain Li shrank back and patted the bulletproof vest on his chest. "Don't you understand why we're given this equipment?"

The two team members shook their heads vigorously, unable to understand how they could be given such poor equipment for a pioneering mission.

"The message from above is very clear: fight less, cause less trouble, search for whatever you can, explore whatever you can."

"If they're dead, they're dead. We're not expected to create miracles. Just don't end up like the Bald Eagle Society, losing both your wife and your army."

Another team member, Park Ji-hoon, suddenly realized, "They just want us to slack off. We're all dressed in rags anyway, and if the 'White Eagles' really want our help, they won't be interested after seeing our gear. So, should we still go in?"

The three men looked at the towering prison standing on the island and felt a chill run down their spines.

"That's precisely why we need to go in. The higher-ups have no hope for us, so we'll do anything! We'll sneak in some loot while things are in disarray, and all the profits will be ours. Let's go!"

Suddenly, gunshots rang out from inside the prison, like firecrackers going off, one after another.

"What's going on?"

"Why was there a gunshot?"

Captain Li paused for a moment, then immediately said, "It looks like a fight has broken out between a group and the prison guards! Perfect, let's sneak in while there's chaos! Quick!"

"Speed up," he said.

The three men slipped into the prison by hugging the wall.

It was even noisier inside, with gunshots echoing through the concrete corridor, making it impossible to tell where they were coming from. This, however, became the source of information for the Hibiscus Squad.

They avoided the sounds of gunfire, choosing quiet tunnels to navigate, winding their way to the core area.

They reached the side door of the administrative area, where the gunfire seemed to have moved upstairs. The first-floor corridor was deserted, with spent shell casings on the floor and splattered bloodstains on the walls. A prison guard's body lay beside the fire door, his bulletproof vest riddled with bullet holes.

"The prison guard is dead?" Park Ji-hoon asked in a low voice.

"Which team got here so fast, ahead of us?"

Lee Junho made a hand gesture. Park Jihoon and Kim Soo-min positioned themselves at the corner of the corridor, guns at their sides, and then Lee Junho pushed open the fire door.

Behind the door is the administrative lobby. It has marble floors, and a large badge hangs behind the reception desk. To the left is a corridor leading to the archives, and to the right is a staircase. The second floor is a circular corridor, with all the office doors tightly closed.

More bodies lay in the center of the hall. Guards' bodies and prisoners' bodies were intertwined. Some were still clutching guns.

"What... what's going on?" Lee Junho was so shocked by what he saw that he couldn't close his mouth. How could so many prison guards have died?

And what are these people in yellow clothes? I've never seen them before. I've never seen NPCs dressed like that in the Explorer's first-person perspective livestream.

"I don't know... Be careful! Let's go up to the circular corridor upstairs; the terrain here is too dangerous."

Team Leader Li directed his team to move slowly and quietly toward the stairs, while remaining vigilant of their surroundings.

Then, a melodious whistle rang in the ears of all three of them at the same time.

Then they saw the yellow smoke.

The three men immediately pointed their guns at each other, and no one spoke.

The gunshots that had been coming from all directions seemed to have disappeared, and the prison returned to its previous deathly silence.

All that could be heard was a piercing whistle coming from the other side of the smoke.

A cloud of yellow smoke suddenly billowed toward them, and a smoke grenade was thrown not far from their bunker.

"Oh no! Watch out!" Lee Junho reacted immediately and tried to dodge, but the smoke still engulfed them when it exploded.

Suddenly, the scene before my eyes distorted and warped, and everything appeared to be blurred.

Even his every step became unsteady, and his arms began to falter as he could no longer hold the gun.

Immediately afterwards, a figure emerged from the edge of the fog.

Then the figure rushed out of the yellow mist.

So fast!

Lee Junho only had time to think of this.

The figure rapidly approached, accompanied by maniacal laughter. As the distance closed quickly, a sickly face wearing a half-mask came into view.

"Retreat immediately!" Captain Li shouted.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

boom!

Li Junhao felt as if his right shoulder had been hit by a hammer. He stumbled backward and fell behind cover. The second bullet shattered his helmet and flew past his scalp.

The level 4 armor did nothing to stop the bullets; a single shot nearly rendered Captain Li incapacitated.

Park Ji-hoon and Kim Soo-min were startled and fired at the same time, but dared not expose themselves, and almost all of them fired into the open space.

"Retreat! Return the way you came! Quickly!" With Lee Jun-ho incapacitated, Kim Soo-min immediately made the decision.

"Drag him away!"

Kim Soo-min, pulling the wounded and fallen Lee Jun-ho along the wall, headed back towards the door they had come from. Park Ji-hoon, while firing blindly in the direction of the yellow fog, slowly retreated back towards them.

Boom!

Park Ji-hoon didn't even see which direction the shot came from.

One shot to the chest, one shot to the brow.

Two shots in one frame, instant death!

Kim Soo-min didn't dare to stop for a moment; his legs were trembling as he dragged Lee Jun-ho back to the fire door they had come through.

Ding ding!

The moment the door closed, the fire door behind him exploded twice, startling Kim Soo-min so much that he covered his head and fell to the ground.

At this moment, he had no intention of resisting anymore.

After a few seconds, seeing that the man hadn't chased after him, Jin Xiumin got up, leaned against the wall, panting heavily. His hair was soaked with sweat, and his limbs were weak, making it impossible for him to pick up the gun.

Lee Junho lay on the ground, his body twitching slightly, blood seeping from his right shoulder and slowly flowing onto the ground.

Seeing that he was still alive, Kim Soo-min quickly got up, took out a surgical kit, tourniquet, and medical kit from his backpack, and began to treat him.

Li Junhao was turned over. He was shot in the right shoulder near his collarbone. It was easy to see from the bullet hole that the level 4 armor was torn like paper and had no protective effect whatsoever.

"He's like this because the shot didn't hit a vital spot!" Kim Soo-min shuddered. After injecting all the medicine into Captain Lee's body, he carried him on his back. He needed to find a safe house to hide in.

The figure in the yellow mist inside the hall saw the fire door close and stopped chasing. He stood still, his revolver hanging at his side, watching them leave.

Because the raven heard more footsteps approaching from the second-floor corridor.
