Chapter 62
"Things" Remain, "People" Are Not
Han Che strode ahead towards the office.
When did this happen?
"Not long after," Shi Ding followed closely behind Han Che, "I was exchanging yesterday's combat experience with the brothers down below when someone suddenly reported to me that they saw Da Zhuang move."
"I rushed to the water-powered canal to bring him back to your office, and then came to the cell to wait for you."
Han Che was certainly happy that Da Zhuang had been resurrected, but why?
Was it resurrected by the system? No!
At least it wasn't an achievement reward for that day.
[A change in the host's mood has been detected]
[Congratulations, host, you have achieved the accomplishment. I am Geheros.]
[Rewards are being distributed]
When Han Che, who was immersed in pain at the time, heard this news, he thought that the system was going to take pity on him and help him revive Da Zhuang.
Unexpectedly, a round metal emblem appeared in his hand.
[The Warden's Badge]
The system then fell silent, without explaining the purpose or usage of the badge.
Logically speaking, the time limit for reviving Dazhuang has already passed.
How could he have come back to life out of thin air?
Han Che had never realized that the cell and the warden's office were so far apart.
Pushing open the door, I saw that familiar figure, dressed in heavy armor, sitting on the sofa with his back to the door.
With the machine gun at his feet, he looked up and surveyed the office's decor and layout.
Hearing the door behind him being suddenly pushed open, he immediately stood up and turned around.
"Dazhuang!" Han Che saw the tall figure turn around.
I walked quickly up to him and patted his arm hard.
"You're back!"
Upon confirming the face beneath the bulletproof mask, Da Zhuang was indeed back, and a unique emotion welled up in Han Che's heart.
"How are you? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?" Han Che asked with concern, looking at the large, charcoal-black burn marks on his body.
"No...no, nothing's wrong," he said, looking at the warden who seemed concerned for him, a little flustered and reserved.
"It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back! I'm sorry you had to go through that yesterday's operation, Dazhuang." Han Che patted his arm, his tone tinged with self-reproach.
"...My machine gun is jammed a bit." The machine gunner, with his massive body, pointed to the Gatling gun on the ground and said with a hint of grievance.
Han Che was taken aback for a moment, then laughed and said, "It's been burned, so the parts don't fit together very well, which is normal."
"It's alright, I'll go and maintain the armor and machine gun in a bit."
"You take a rest first. I bought some food. Let's have a drink with the other guys in the prison."
Han Che turned around and instructed Shi Ding, "Take Dazhuang down first, and then call all the prison guards to assemble at the canteen."
"Yes, Your Excellency Warden!" Shi Ding then led the tall machine gunners out of the warden's office.
He felt much more relaxed. Fortunately, he wasn't stingy when he went to the supermarket to buy meat and bought quite a lot more than he should have.
He's such a big guy, otherwise there might not be enough for Dazhuang to eat!
Han Che couldn't wait to gather all the prison guards in the canteen to share the joy of their lost possession.
"Everyone! During the last two prison opening times, three player operators used cheats to kill us prison guards indiscriminately."
"Even I'm troubled by it!"
"However! With Dazhuang joining us, our prison's overall defense capabilities have been greatly enhanced, but he was surrounded and killed because of this." Han Che said in a low voice.
"Now, I've found the secret to defeating those players! And Da Zhuang has been resurrected! I'm so happy."
Han Che raised his wine glass high on the stage.
"Today, the prison will open again, and I will deliver a crushing blow! I will utterly crush those vile maggots!"
After the speech, the prison guards began to eat heartily, especially the tall machine gunner standing next to Shi Dinghe and Shi Lei.
Prison guards kept coming over to toast him, expressing their admiration for his prowess in single-handedly suppressing three bald eagle agents.
He simply didn't know what to say in response, so he gave a simple, honest smile and downed his drink in one gulp.
Han Che, holding a wine glass, walked past each table, greeting the prison guards and drinking with them.
These prison guards had been with him day and night for so long, and they trusted him every time they went into battle, even when the equipment was outdated and the risks were extremely high.
Even if it means certain death, they will still take a piece of the enemy's flesh.
"Your Excellency Warden! We are not afraid!"
"Yes, with you here, even if it means our deaths, it would be meaningful!"
"Yeah! When have I ever heard of Hafk soldiers chasing after player operators to kill them before!"
"Yeah, after every match with Brother Shi Ding, he leads us in training and debriefing! Now our marksmanship and movement skills are getting better and better!"
Han Che raised his glass high again, "Brothers, if we unite as one, we can definitely overcome any difficulties!"
After going around in circles and drinking a lot of wine, we finally returned to Shi Ding and Shi Lei's table.
Upon seeing the warden return, Shi Ding, Shi Lei, Lin Feng, Lin Rui, Lin Kun, and the tall machine gunner all stood up.
"Everyone," Han Che poured another glass of wine, "I need your strong support in every battle; you are my right-hand men!"
Then he looked at the machine gunner who had taken off his armor and said, "Dazhuang, you just arrived yesterday, and I assigned you such a dangerous job. I still couldn't save you. I feel really guilty..."
"But thankfully, you're back! This toast is for you!" Han Che raised his glass, tilted his head back, and drank it all in one gulp.
"Warden Jingdian!"
The others also downed their drinks.
Han Che sat down next to the machine gunner. "Don't be shy. We're all family now."
He nodded, poured himself another glass of wine, and raised it.
Han Che poured himself a glass of wine, and the machine gunner lowered his glass by half an inch before the glasses clinked together.
Han Che was slightly stunned.
"Thank you for your care, Warden. Let me raise a glass to you!"
He was about to take back his wine glass and drink it all when Han Che grabbed his hands that were holding the glass.
"Dazhuang, what did you call me?"
"Um... Your Excellency the Warden?" The machine gunner's expression was a mixture of surprise and fear. "I saw Shi Ding and the others call him that... Did I call him the wrong person?"
Han Che stared into those eyes for a long time before slowly releasing his grip on them.
The machine gunner looked at the warden as if he were scrutinizing a prisoner, and for a moment, his glass was raised in mid-air, unsure whether he should drink it or not.
Han Che's eyes flickered slightly, and finally he let out a heavy sigh.
He swallowed the wine in his glass in one gulp, and the machine gunner quickly finished his own glass as well.
He had already drunk several cups of liquor, and only now did he realize how pungent it was, choking him so much that it took him a while to speak.
"Cough cough cough... Dazhuang."
"I'll still call you Dazhuang. From now on, you'll be with my personal guard, under my direct management."
Da Zhuang bowed slightly, clasped his hands together, and said, "Thank you, Warden. I will strictly obey your orders from now on!"
Han Che nodded, placed his wine glass on the table, and said, "You guys eat, eat more!"
He then got up and left the prison canteen.
He felt drunk, his steps were unsteady, and he staggered.
"Ah, Warden... Your Excellency..."
