Chapter 47
The Prisoner's Resurrection
"Sir, sir! It's your bill!"
"Huh?" Han Che finally snapped out of his daze from the screen. "Oh, okay!"
It was already dark. Han Che found a corner to put all kinds of food and drinks into his system space, then strolled over to the river.
"New technology... what kind of trouble are they causing now?" Han Che kicked a small pebble into the river, splashing water with a "plop".
"These guys have nothing better to do all day, and they still don't know when to stop even after being beaten like this."
Han Che now has over 200 million in his personal account, and he's completely unfazed. How powerful can these players really be?
Gherros's extreme stats combined with his Demon King-like mindset.
It would be as easy as kicking them to death.
Stop overthinking, put on a black trench coat and a mask, and leap into the water.
Welcome back, Your Excellency the Warden.
Back at the prison, as I emerged from the cell evacuation point, I was surprised to find many prison guards patrolling the cell area, contrary to my expectations.
They all saluted and greeted the warden.
"What's going on? Why are you patrolling here?"
Han Che randomly grabbed a prison guard and asked him.
"Your Excellency Warden, all the prisoners have been locked in their cells, and we are conducting a routine patrol."
"Prisoners? Weren't they all dead? Were there any who escaped?"
"Uh," the prison guard didn't know where to begin, "their sudden appearance was arranged by Captain Shi Ning."
Seeing that he couldn't give a coherent explanation, Han Che didn't press him any further and hurried toward the warden's office.
Along the way, we did see that many of the previously empty prison cells were now filled with prisoners.
"Shi Ding, Shi Ding!" Han Che called Shi Ding urgently as soon as he arrived at the office.
"Your Excellency Warden, what's wrong?" Shi Ding heard the call and came into the office.
"Where did these prisoners come from?"
Upon hearing this, Shi Ding scratched his head and said, "I was just about to report this to you when you returned."
"When I was cleaning up the mess in the prison with my team, I discovered that some prisoners were coming back to life."
"So I urgently called on my brothers to lock them all up in jail."
"Let our men patrol and keep watch until you return and give the order."
Han Che tapped his fingers on the desk. "Did they resurrect with weapons?"
"Weapons?" Shi Ding recalled for a moment, "They're still with us, similar to before. I told the brothers to surrender all their weapons."
Han Che nodded, "Alright, we're a prison, it's normal to have prisoners, let's just keep them locked up like this for now."
"Oh right," Han Che said, taking out the various foods he had bought from the supermarket from his system space.
"Call Shi Lei and the others over and take these things to the cafeteria. It was a tough day, everyone worked hard, have a good drink."
"I have something to do, I'll go later. You don't need to wait for me, just eat first."
After making the arrangements, Han Che left the office alone and walked towards the prison area.
Arriving at a special cell, I opened the observation window on the iron door and saw a raven doing push-ups inside.
Han Che knocked on the prison door, making a clanging sound, before opening it and going inside.
"Raven, what are you doing?"
"What are you doing, Warden?" Raven continued doing push-ups, speaking irritably.
Han Che's face turned pale. "Those prisoners, did you resurrect them?"
Hearing this, the raven stopped and got up from the ground.
"Resurrected? How could I be resurrected, Warden? You haven't taken some kind of drug, have you?"
Bang! Han Che slammed his fist against the wall, making a dull thud.
"They're all dead, how come they're jumping around in their cells now?"
The raven slowly raised its head to look directly at the white mask. "Warden, Warden, weren't I dead too? How did I come back to life?"
Han Che laughed in exasperation, momentarily speechless at the question.
He then sat down on the iron bed in the cell.
Raven was taken aback; he hadn't expected the warden to have this attitude.
"How did you suddenly appear in my prison? You've disrupted my plans."
"How did I end up in prison?" Raven asked, a hint of confusion in his voice.
"Didn't you Hafk arrest me? Did you want to make me Asara's spokesperson?"
"This brain-computer interface, wasn't it you Hafk who put it on me?"
"Aren't these scars all inflicted by you bunch of Hafk's lackeys?"
The raven's eyes turned sinister, and its tone became resentful and insane.
Han Che shook his head. "Then why did you only show up today?"
Raven paused, and fine beads of sweat began to appear on Han Che's forehead, which he couldn't see.
"Wha...what? You suddenly appeared? I escaped from prison while you were out!"
Han Che felt that Raven's attitude seemed less vicious than before, for some reason. Was it just his imagination?
Han Che thought to himself, "It seems this memory was just refreshed. It's all background story from the game, and I can't get any answers from asking it."
It seems these prisoners can be resurrected by the ravens themselves. Luckily, I wasn't tricked by the system into spending money to resurrect them.
"Oh well, we're already here. We'll see each other all the time."
"Uh...ah?" Han Che noticed that Raven's lips were clearly clenched, and he wondered what he was planning to do.
"My uncle Yusuf was a usurper; his throne was made of sand..."
"Huh? Why are you reciting lines again?" Han Che was taken aback. What was he doing?
Ever since he was reborn and arrived at Tide Prison, he has been able to communicate easily with these shield soldiers, snipers, and even ordinary prison guards.
How come I ran into someone who likes to recite lines all the time?
"Madness is my friend, death is my kin," the raven said, its voice rising and falling with emotion, almost deliberately so, "We dance together on this desolate stage."
"Alright, alright, stop reading." Han Che stood up and went to the cell door.
"From now on, I'll let you out to play for a while when you're not busy, but don't cause trouble during operations, okay?" Han Che sighed helplessly at the ravens reciting with great emotion.
"Alright, fine. You and your buddies did a good job today. These are for you."
Han Che placed a cold dish and a few bottles of beer he had bought at the supermarket on the table. "I'm leaving."
He then closed the cell door, and only stopped reciting his lines and breathed a sigh of relief when the clicking footsteps faded into the distance.
"Finally gone. If I had asked a couple more questions, I really wouldn't have known..." he muttered to himself.
"Resurrect me, and I'll give you food and wine in return?"
Raven scratched the back of his head and casually wiped the fine beads of sweat from his forehead with his sleeve.
"Is that how Gherros should be? Is he really that close to the raven?"
Raven opened the plastic box, opened a bottle of beer, and sniffed it twice. "It shouldn't be poisonous. If they wanted to kill me, they wouldn't have resurrected me."
Then he broke open a pair of disposable chopsticks, picked up a slice of sausage, and took a big gulp of beer, instantly sending bubbles rising from his mouth to his head.
"Ah, that feels great! It's been over three months since I last had a drink, and I never imagined I'd be drinking here again!"
"Holy crap, something's not right?"
As Raven drank his beer, something occurred to him, and he suddenly froze in shock.
"Could it be true, as some unofficial historical accounts suggest, that Geherus was actually interested in the raven?"
