Chapter 18

: Conan Appears

In a panic, Ran ran to Conan Edogawa and knelt down in front of him. Seeing Conan swaying as he held a cup in his hand, Ran suddenly turned to look at Heiji Hattori.

"What exactly did you give him to drink?!"

"It's a Chinese liquor called Lao Bai Gan. I've heard it's good for colds. This is a gift I brought to greet you as a guest. Please don't be shy."

Smiling, Hattori Heiji unwrapped the beverage packaging, straightened his hat, and said with a grin.

Jonah blinked in confusion, dipped his finger in the remaining liquid in the glass, tasted it, and then looked strangely at the dizzy Conan Edogawa.

He hadn't expected that Conan Edogawa would get drunk after just one sip of such strong liquor, but considering that his own life experience was that of a child soldier, Jonah decided not to say anything more.

Jonah took Conan Edogawa from Ran Mouri and was about to take him upstairs to rest when there was another knock on the door of the detective agency. A woman dressed modestly but still exuding an air of elegance stood at the door, looking at the people in the detective agency with an impatient expression.

Upon seeing a client arrive, Conan Edogawa immediately stopped feeling dizzy and unsteady on his feet, insisting on staying in the room to listen to the client explain the contents of the request. Ignoring Ran Mouri's advice, he insisted on going with them to investigate.

Conan Edogawa wanted to go along, and Heiji Hattori, being shameless, also wanted to come along. Kogoro Mouri was a little disgusted, but considering that Heiji Hattori had brought him a gift, he was too embarrassed to refuse directly.

So the group of people, led by the client, arrived at her home.

Just as Jonah was asking Ran Mouri what a diplomat was, Kimie Tsujimura, the agent who opened the study door first, let out a terrified scream.

Upon hearing the scream, Jonah paused for a moment. When he looked up into the study, he saw that Ran Mouri, Heiji Hattori, and Conan Edogawa had already surrounded the body and begun to examine it.

A hint of confusion flashed in Jonah's eyes as he carefully recalled the murder cases he had encountered since arriving at the Mouri Detective Agency, counting on his fingers. Then he realized that his two hands seemed insufficient.

Jonah wasn't interested in solving the case. This time, the police arrived quickly, and Jonah looked around but didn't find any particularly dangerous people. So he hid to the side like an invisible man and didn't participate in the investigation.

Jonah accidentally killed the snake on his phone again. He blinked, feeling a bit thirsty, and wanted to find some water to drink. Just then, he saw Ran Mouri anxiously running downstairs with Conan Edogawa in her arms. After putting Conan in a lounge, she hurriedly ran out again.

Realizing that something might be wrong with Conan Edogawa, Jonah rushed to the lounge and saw Conan Edogawa lying on the bed, looking pained and somewhat delirious.

Jonah wasn't a doctor and only possessed some battlefield first aid knowledge; he had absolutely no idea what to do in this situation.

Remembering that Ran Mouri had run out to find a doctor, Jonah thought for a moment and then ran to the kitchen to get Conan Edogawa a glass of water, hoping to ease his discomfort.

Jonah ran back to his room with his water glass. He frowned as he watched Conan Edogawa writhing on the bed in discomfort, preparing to restrain him to prevent him from unknowingly hurting himself.

However, just as Jonah placed the water glass on the table beside him, Conan Edogawa on the bed suddenly underwent a change that shocked Jonah into a daze.

Under Jonah's watchful gaze, Conan Edogawa's body began to change little by little. After instinctively breaking free from the shrunken clothes, he transformed into a man about the same age as Ran Mouri in a very short time.

Seeing Conan Edogawa lying on the ground, panting heavily, Jonah was utterly bewildered and dazed for the first time since arriving in this world.

Seeing that "Edogawa Conan" was waking up, Yoko instinctively lowered his pace and ran out of the room. After reaching the corner of the stairs, he squinted and stared intently in the direction of the room.

A moment later, Conan Edogawa, now dressed in a blue suit, emerged from the room, panting. He first ran to the bathroom to wash the sweat off his face, then began running around the house, rummaging through the trash cans.

Jonah had been secretly following behind "Conan Edogawa" and watched him walk up the stairs, appearing openly in front of everyone at the crime scene without any intention of hiding himself.

Immediately afterwards, Ran Mouri's words, a mixture of surprise, worry, anger, and grievance, about "Shinichi," left Jonah, who was behind the door, frozen in place.

Shinichi? This man is Shinichi Kudo? He's Ran Mouri's classmate, her childhood friend, and also the Shinichi Kudo who supposedly disappeared after encountering a difficult case?

What's the deal with Conan Edogawa? Jonah witnessed firsthand that Shinichi Kudo was transformed from Conan Edogawa.

The scene before him was far too complicated for Jonah to figure out the reason. He could only stand there blankly, watching as Shinichi Kudo overturned Heiji Hattori's reasoning and helped the police catch the real culprit. Then, he squatted down with a pained expression.

Jonah blinked as Ran Mouri, who had once again run out in fright to find a doctor, continued to follow Shinichi Kudo, who was staggering away from the scene. He watched as Shinichi reached the first-floor bathroom and was then blocked inside by Ran Mouri.

"Hehe, Sister Xiaolan."

Jonah remained silent as Ran Mouri opened the bathroom door, revealing Conan Edogawa dressed in oversized clothes.

His intuition and reason told him that something was wrong; a normal person could never grow bigger and then shrink.

In other words, Conan Edogawa is Shinichi Kudo.

But why?

The doubts in his heart remained unanswered, and Jonah instinctively chose to conceal his discovery of the day. However, after returning home, while Ran Mouri was taking Conan Edogawa to see a doctor, he made a phone call to Eri Kisaki.

"Hey, Jonah, are you missing me?"

Eri was still very happy to receive Jonah's call. Although she was trying her best to visit Jonah, she could only manage to come once a week.

She herself felt somewhat ashamed, but Ran Mouri was already very happy. She praised Jonah many times for this, because when Eri Kisaki came to visit Jonah, she would meet with Kogoro Mouri. If they could meet once every two or three months, Ran Mouri would be burning incense with gratitude.

"Um."

After fending off Eri's enthusiasm, Jonah finally found an opportunity to ask her the question he was curious about.

Although it was a bit strange, Fei Ying thought it might be a cute idea that Jonah had seen in some cartoon or movie and that led to the birth of a child, so she didn't pay much attention to it.

"In real life, of course there are no people who can change size at will, Jonah, don't confuse cartoons with reality."

"...I understand, Auntie."
