Chapter 75
Jonah's Bizarre Adventure
The farce caused by the Kudo couple quickly came to an end. After their true identities were recognized, the two stopped pretending and returned to the United States in less than a week.
This week was unusually peaceful for Jonah, the only thing that made him regretful was that he couldn't get in touch with Mr. Oshima (Cohen).
However, considering that the other party's profession was an assassin, and that the last time they contacted each other, the other party mentioned that he would occasionally go abroad to carry out missions, Jonah understood the other party's state of being out of contact.
If Jonah couldn't get in touch with Cohen, he wouldn't be able to ask if Cohen could help him get some more weapons to satisfy Jonah's desire to increase his firepower.
With a sigh, Jonah walked alone back to the detective agency.
Jonah and Eri had arranged to have dinner together tonight. After dinner, Jonah took Eri home. He was originally going to take a taxi back to the office, but he suddenly felt restless and wanted to go for a walk.
He kept eliminating possibilities in his mind. Professor Agasa was too old to do it, and although Conan Edogawa had become much more lenient with Jonah, he was still quite strict with himself. He couldn't ask Conan Edogawa to help him fire the gun either.
What about Ai Haibara? Jonah thought Ai Haibara was capable of shooting, but her fear of the Black Organization was too great. If a real battle broke out, the psychological pressure might affect her performance.
Thinking of this, Jonah couldn't help but sigh.
Among the people around him, Jonah felt that the most suitable helper was Kogoro Mouri. Kogoro Mouri's performance in the wargame had impressed Jonah, but in terms of pistol shooting accuracy, Jonah felt that Kogoro Mouri had surpassed him.
However, Kogoro Mouri knows absolutely nothing about what Conan Edogawa is going through.
Scratching his hair, Jonah suddenly felt a pang of nostalgia for his days on the battlefield.
Although the soldiers at those bases weren't strictly speaking his comrades, their presence did draw a lot of attention for Jonah.
砰-
Jonah's steps suddenly halted, and his previously calm eyes instantly sharpened.
If one sound could be a mishearing, then the subsequent gunshots confirmed Jonah's judgment.
Looking in the direction from which the gunshots came, there was a construction site where work had been suspended.
After thinking for a moment, Jonah put on the hood he always carried with him and ran over.
Jonah isn't interested in the conflicts inside, but he'd be very happy if he could find some guns.
As Jonah entered the first floor of the construction site, his eyes lit up. He saw four corpses, each holding a pistol!
Jonah ran over happily, put on gloves, and picked up the pistols one by one, putting them into his backpack.
Jonah's ears twitched. He heard gunshots coming from above the building, so he picked up a pistol, checked the bullets, and silently crept up.
The firefight upstairs was more intense than expected. Not being familiar with the surroundings, Jonah didn't dare to approach rashly, but he found that the gunfire was getting closer and closer to where he was hiding.
With his hands gripping the pistols, Jonah was ready to fire at any moment, but the gunfire suddenly stopped.
With a furrowed brow and holding his breath, Jonah didn't rush to act but instead prepared to observe the situation. In the next second, he suddenly turned around and pointed his gun at the stairs behind him.
At the top of the stairs, a pistol was also pointed at Jonah, but the person holding the gun let out a surprised "Eh!" after seeing his target clearly.
"How can there be a child?"
Although Jonah wore a hood, his height and build made it easy to tell his age at a glance.
Seeing Jonah suddenly appear, Furuya Rei was stunned. He subconsciously ignored the pistol Jonah was holding. Furuya Rei turned around with a serious expression and fired several shots at the stairs behind him, revealing his position and stopping the pursuers. Then he turned to Jonah and whispered.
"Get out of here quickly, go down that way!"
With his finger already on the trigger, Jonah blinked in confusion as he looked at the man who showed no hostility towards him but instead instinctively protected him.
"Damn it, were you scared?"
Seeing that Jonah didn't move, Furuya Rei gritted his teeth and turned around to pull Jonah away first to ensure the child's safety. But as soon as he turned around, his expression changed, and he suddenly lunged forward, using his body to block Jonah's side.
With a bang, Rei Furuya was shot in the abdomen, but he also fired back, killing the enemy who was tumbling down from above.
Jonah looked at Furuya Rei with a hint of disdain in his eyes.
Jonah had just locked onto the man who had fallen and was about to pull the trigger to kill him when Rei Furuya suddenly rushed over and blocked Jonah's gun, taking the bullet himself in the process.
Is this guy an idiot?
Jonah initially wanted to shoot Rei Furuya directly and eliminate the man who had seen him earlier that day, but considering that the man had protected him despite his injuries, Jonah felt that shooting him now would be going too far.
"Damn it, kid, get off at the stairs right now, it's dangerous here."
Clutching his wound, Rei Furuya was sweating profusely from the pain. He urged Jonah to leave again, but upon hearing footsteps, he suddenly raised his gun and aimed it forward.
boom!
A bullet struck Furuya Rei's raised pistol precisely, knocking it away. A burly man in a white shirt and blue jeans emerged from the shadows, his uneven eyes glaring fiercely at Furuya Rei, who was clutching his wound.
"Hey, Amuro! This isn't what we agreed on! Why are there so many people here today?! I agreed to trade arms with you, but I only allowed you to come alone!"
"This was an accident, Dave, calm down and listen to me!"
"What do you mean, 'calm down'? And what's with that brat next to you?!"
"He's just an ordinary kid who wandered in here by mistake, Dave! Don't point a gun at him..."
Bang-bang-
Two shots were fired in quick succession. One shot knocked the pistol out of the hand of the man named Dave, and the other shot hit his thigh, causing Dave to cry out in pain and kneel on one knee.
Both Rei Furuya and Dave stared wide-eyed in shock as Jonah, who had swiftly and decisively completed his shot, looked directly at him.
"Amuro! This is just a normal kid!"
"...Little boy, guns are dangerous. Don't play with them. Give them to your older brother, okay?"
Before he could even process the fact that Jonah had accurately hit Dave, Rei Furuya instinctively gave Jonah a gentle smile, wanting to take the pistol from Jonah's hand first.
"Is he an arms dealer?"
Ignoring Furuya Rei's smiling face, Jonah fixed his gaze on the man named Dave and asked thoughtfully.
"Ah, yes, but he's not an enemy, he's your friend. There's no need to point a gun at him all the time, it's dangerous. And your brother isn't a bad person either. Actually, I'm a police officer, little...little kid?"
Staring blankly at the gun that had suddenly turned towards him, Furuya Rei's eyes widened in bewilderment.
He didn't understand why Jonah had suddenly pointed a gun at him when everything had been fine before.
"You're too noisy."
"Damn it! Amuro, I knew you were up to no good! You're a cop?! I must have been blind..."
砰-
"You're too noisy."
