Chapter 77
My Comrades Are Here Now!
Not understanding why Dave was looking at him like he was a family member, Jonah quickly ran to the man in the suit, turned him over, and put his finger in front of his nose.
A moment later, Jonah stood up with a grim face, looked at the silenced pistol in his hand, and angrily threw it onto the body of the man in the suit.
Jonah had aimed at the man in the suit slightly to the right of his back, but the bullet somehow pierced the man's heart, killing him instantly.
This was different from Jonah's plan; he had originally intended to keep one alive to ask about the organization!
"What's wrong?"
Ignoring the bleeding from his thigh, Dave curiously reached out and picked up the pistol Jonah had dropped. As Jonah cautiously drew his gun and aimed, Dave calmly disassembled the pistol, carefully examined the barrel, and then laughed out loud.
"It's not that you're bad at shooting, it's that this bastard modified the barrel himself, making the bullet trajectory of this pistol deviate to the left. He probably wanted to prevent the pistol from being stolen and used immediately. He only knows how to use such petty tricks."
"You saved my life, my good brother. Forget about the time you shot me before. Hurry up and help me pack my things. This bastard actually found this place. Looks like I need to find another place."
Staring blankly at Dave, who acted as if he were one of the family after being rescued, Jonah hesitated for a moment before helping Dave move some of the boxes he had found to his car.
Jonah didn't understand what was going on with Dave, but judging from what had just happened, Jonah knew that Dave and the people in that organization must have a grudge against each other, that is, they were enemies.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend! Jonah didn't quite understand this saying, but he decided to try to put it into practice.
"Bro, I'm Blazein Dave from America. Thanks a lot today."
Dave quickly drove away from the exposed safe house, changing cars twice along the way and taking a 30-minute detour to reach the residential area on the other side of the bar street, which was separated from the safe house.
"The more dangerous the place, the safer it is. Besides, I'm most familiar with this place, so I can react immediately if there's any danger."
Dave enthusiastically opened a bottle of beer for Jonah, but seeing that Jonah didn't touch it, he scratched his head, bent over, and rummaged through the refrigerator for a while before finally finding an unopened carton of milk.
"So, bro, aren't you going to have a chat with me?"
"Do you have a grudge against that person?"
"Haha, what you really want to ask is whether I have a grudge against that organization, right?"
Amused, Dave was certain that Jonah wasn't very old, even though he was still wearing the hood. This was evident from Jonah's manner of speaking.
His agile movements, precise marksmanship, ruthless and cold-blooded killing style, and the feeling that when he fired his gun, it wasn't like a killer's sharpness, but rather like he was always charging forward.
"I never expected to see child soldiers in Japan."
Jonah's gaze shifted as he looked at Dave, who was sitting opposite him, laughing and drinking beer. He began to wonder if it would be more reassuring to kill Dave right there and now.
"Calm down. I don't have any bad intentions. I told you, you saved my life, so we're brothers now. Besides, we're both enemies of that organization. You need weapons, and we have a lot in common."
With his hands raised to express his stance, Dave, in order to gain Jonah's trust, took the lead in explaining why he had become enemies with the organization.
Jonah then realized that the American had traveled all the way to Japan to avenge his father and to investigate and hunt down a man named Rum.
Jonah didn't know the name Rum. The only names of the organization's executives that Ai Haibara had heard from her were Gin and Vodka, whom she had fought on the rooftop of the Beika Hotel that day.
Oh, and Piske, but he died without making any impression on Jonah.
"So, how did you get involved with them?"
I can't tell you.
"Ah, that's so honest, though it's heartbreaking."
Dave chuckled at Jonah's blunt rejection, not taking it to heart.
"Well then, let me tell you what help I can offer you. You left with me before so you could get weapons from me, right?"
"Didn't you say you were going to rest and recuperate tonight?"
"Sorry, I was just kidding."
"..." Jonah looked at Dave, who was grinning at him, and after a moment of silence, he decided that he could trust this somewhat crazy man in front of him.
After all, it was true that the organization sent assassins to kill him; if Yo hadn't been capable, Dave would definitely be dead in his room.
"I want some new firearms that are easy to carry and conceal."
"That's too easy. What do you have on hand right now?"
"I have an AKS-74U and a Browning MK3."
"The MK3 is passable, but the 74U is garbage. Leave it to me, I'll get you some good stuff in a week."
"How much?"
"What money do you want? I'll give it to you. Do you think my life isn't worth a few guns?"
Dave looked at Jonah with a grin, becoming happier the more he looked at Jonah.
Like himself, he has a grudge against the Black Organization, is an excellent marksman, has outstanding mobility, and most importantly, has a very deceptive appearance.
Having already encountered many difficult situations while traveling alone in Japan, Dave felt that having a companion like Jonah would be something he could laugh about in his sleep.
"However, I have another suggestion. I wonder if you'd be interested, brother?"
"What?"
"Let's join forces. Leave the weapons and logistics to me; all you have to do is be my teammate and work with me against that damned organization whenever I need help, okay?"
"...I'd like to think about it."
"No problem. I also need some time to recover from my injuries, then I'll get you a gun. How about we meet next week?"
"Okay." Jonah looked at Dave seriously, and he was also looking forward to it. A person who could be in charge of logistics, had certain combat capabilities, and had a clear hatred for the Black Organization, wasn't this the teammate Jonah had been looking for?
Even if I can't introduce this teammate to Conan Edogawa and the others, it's good to keep in touch privately!
Jonah, however, remained wary and did not reveal his real name directly. After a moment of silence, he uttered a name that even he himself found somewhat vague.
You can call me Jonathan.
"Dave, it's a pleasure to meet you, my brother Jonathan!"
......
Having fulfilled his wish, Jonah happily left Dave's safe house. After taking a taxi back to Professor Agasa's house, he was surprised to find that the lights in the professor's living room were still on.
Curious, Jonah pushed open the door and saw Conan Edogawa and Ai Haibara sitting on the sofa, arms crossed in the same posture. Upon hearing the door open, they both opened their eyes and stared sharply at Jonah, then paused in their tracks.
These two men, who together wouldn't be a match for Jonah's one-handed attack, were putting immense pressure on Jonah at this moment.
"Jonah, you're back. Come in, I have so much to tell you."
"...I want to go back to sleep."
"No, now, right now, get in here!"
